Friends,
I haven’t had much gas left in the word tank to pump you up with part two of my midterm election predictions assessment since my last blog posting back on 8 November. Eight days passed. In them I typed 30,000 words into a rough draft of Predictions for 2011.

I want to post this blog before birthing this book takes me away again. Now here is part two of my midterm prediction assessment.

If you like, you can review all the midterm prophecies by clicking on 2010 midterm election predictions).

Here we go. First in bold font the predictions, followed by my assessments:

Just under five months ago, I expanded upon my midterm election prophecy in the blog article Uranus Retrograde: Chaos we can believe in? In the following passage I spoke of the key astrological influence of Uranus (the ruler of change) retreating while the ruler of status quo limitations and conservative reality checks advanced towards the midterms:

“Starting 7 July [the day of this blog’s posting] and intensifying by 21 July, Uranus retreats to its place in a very powerful grand T square with Pluto in Capricorn opposing Saturn in Libra (status quo and reality checks). Pluto in Capricorn defines a generational age, an era of systemic crisis leading either to global civil disorder and fascism or democracy’s renewal between now and the first months of 2024.

“We will be feeling the influence of this powerful T square throughout the summer in extreme heat waves, floods, violent weather, hurricanes, cyclones and typhoons. I would be pleasantly surprised if the world does not endure a major seismic disaster or two between now and Halloween — metaphorical earthquakes that are political, economic and literally seismic.

“A thread of destiny pulls backwards out of the T Square in the guise of Uranus in retrograde, starting mid August, retreating into the spacey sign of Pisces. Expect to see civilization’s rug pulled underfoot starting in mid-August, shaking things up when hidden enemies to change — our collective conditioned reflexes against it — pop out from the undercurrent of mass unconscious from August through to the Christmas Holiday Season. Then Uranus goes direct course on 6 December 2010.”

I then added this assessment on November 1 about the above:

The summer [of 2010] certainly had its share of lingering triple-digit heat waves, tornadoes, hurricanes, typhoons and cyclones. Christchurch, New Zealand was hit by a 7-magnitude temblor. Another 7.7 magnitude quake off Sumatra pushed a tsunami washing away many villages yet as significant as these are, they are not the kind of large scale seismic events seen earlier this year in Chile and Haiti. The year 2010 during the Uranus retrograde did endure a historic natural disaster of another kind. A lingering monsoon deluge flooded a fourth of Pakistan displacing 25 million people.

ASSESSMENT (Note: all of these come from 17 November 2010)
The summer of 2010 did endure triple-digit heat waves in North America. Monsoon floods inundated a quarter of Pakistan displacing upwards of 25 million people. Typhoons, such as Megi were severe. The North American tornado season continued late into the summer. America from coast to coast endured in October the strongest nationwide wave of non-tropical, low-pressured storm fury yet recorded. What also began in July with the retrograde was momentum lost by Obama and the Democrats as the Tea Party rebellion and Tea Party candidates began their surge that shook the House of Representatives out of Democratic control of the full US Congress.

A Tea Party interpreter would say the hidden enemy to change is president and Democrat majorities in Congress who only talked of change but didn’t do enough to turn the country around in the short space of two years. The Democratic interpretation would counter that forces of a no-saying, status quo elements worked to undermine progressive forward progress. There was ever a bureaucratic resistance on the one hand and billions poured into right wing candidate coffers on the other by big business to fund a propaganda campaign that effectively twisted Obama’s successes.

This issue is examined in great detail in three of my twelve chapters in Predictions for 2011. I will say this today; the estimated 4 billion dollars flooding this midterm election from corporations only slightly favored the Republican/Tea Party candidates over the Democratic. The hidden enemy of democracy is set to manipulate the fears of both the left and the right for their own ends, which is to usurp citizen power.

There is a corporate takeover of the United States ongoing since special interests managed to hide their huge investments in 2008 into Barack Obama’s run for president. They work again, with the Supreme Court’s blessing, to hide whole corporations behind the definition of being equal “citizens” apposed to citizens of little to no means to influence elections beyond their single ballot cast, such as you or me.

What about that forecast of a political earthquake by Halloween? It will come 2 November — a day after the original date celebrating Halloween, All Soul’s Day, 1 November.

ASSESSMENT:
The political earthquake shaking up Washington in 2011 is not what it seems to simple left, center or right wing progressives. It is a generational struggle not experienced since Pluto transited Capricorn over 248 years ago. A new global power elite tries to influence both sides of the political spectrum to suppress emergent passions for freedom we see in growing middle classes of Asia and a stagnating middle class hollowing out in America.

Let us examine the astrological makeup of tomorrow’s election day [2 November 2010] — the most significant US election since the year 2000 saw Al Gore win the popular vote but lose the Electoral College vote to G.W. Bush. Perhaps a basic explanation of tomorrow’s planetary aspects might consciously rather than unconsciously influence your vote.

On Election Day, the Sun (ruler of the ego) will be in Scorpio, the sign of fundamental transformations, death and rebirth. The American world will be greatly changed after 2 November.

ASSESSMENT:
That is certainly the case. The country is going to slide to a progressively right-leaning revolution counter to Obama’s “Change we can believe in.” The liberal voters might call it a counterrevolution. I call it the Obamabacklash. He lost the thread of his narrative of change. Now he pays for it.

Mercury is also in Scorpio and it is sextiled (positively aspecting) the Moon (ruler of emotions) in Virgo. The minds of voters might be moderated by the Moon’s discernment to temper sharp and harsh language, such as what one sees on the placards against Obama in Tea Party rallies or in the angry rancor of leftists and rightists grappling for sound bytes and scratches on Cable TV talking “head job” shows.

ASSESSMENT:
Election night was surprisingly free of rancorous acceptance and concession speeches. The rancor would begin in the following days, once everyone waiting to exhale watching the returns.

Mercury in Scorpio can also motivate mistrust. There will be a number of ballot fraud claims because of this.

ASSESSMENT:
Tea Party candidate Joe Miller threatened to legally dispute write-in ballots for incumbent Republican Alaskan Senator Murkowski. Sarah Palin’s endorsed Miller. She has had a lot of success with her endorsements of late, except in her own state where she quit the post of Alaskan governor to play Fox News pundit and reality show star (Sarah Palin’s Alaska on TLC). As of today, Miller has officially lost against Murkowski’s write-in candidacy.

There will be new excuses, some warranted and mostly not, to create new conspiracy theories on both sides of the political spectrum. The mood of mistrust will not bode well for incumbents whether it is earned or unearned. Change for change’s sake is the reasoning of Mercury tomorrow. Damn the consequences.

ASSESSMENT:
Change came undefined and as vague in the 2010 midterms, for its own sake as it did when the same mass minded energy carried Obama and the Democrats into power in 2008. The American people flailed about to the left in 2008, now they swiping and flail to the right in 2010. Prepare for a riotous congress in 2011 as the consequence.

Change for change’s sake is the reasoning of Mercury tomorrow. Damn the consequences. That’s why I think Democrat Senator’s Barbara Boxer of California and Patty Murray of Washington State are likely to lose. So is Democrat Senator Russ Feingold of Wisconsin.

ASSESSMENT:
I got Feingold right but my prediction of a loss for Murray and Boxer were wrong, though Murray won by a small margin against Rossi. Barbara Boxer’s run against Fiorina wasn’t close at all. Perhaps if I had thought less and let the Oracle I use do the talking, it would have written a more accurate observation.

Venus, (ruler of relationships) on Election Day is also in retrograde, wanting to retreating from past relationships, such as with the president who wooed her so well in 2008.

“You are not the president I married!” cries Venus in Scorpio, while under the sign of passionate yet karmic love relationships. Venus in Scorpio is in its detriment. In a political context, Venus lets passion rule reason in the American Vox Populi.

In short, Obama suffers a lover’s breakup coming on 2 November. His jilted “lover” is the American electorate. They passionately embraced the alluring if vague dream of his 2008 troubadour love song of change they could believe in. Venus in Scorpio when under such affliction can be the catalyst of a love-hate relation-abandon-ship in the works. If there is a perception of being unheard by the lover, or neglected, love can turn to hate and cold indifference. Obama’s independent swing voters followed him to the left in 08. Now watch many of the same voters, mute and indifferent to Obama’s last minute political rallies vote against his party. The thrill is gone. They lurch to the right on Election Day 2010

ASSESSMENT:
One might say Obama was served a referendum by the voting public he wooed and swept off its feet in 2008. The flighty girlish electorate has come down to earth. The relationship after the presidential inauguration’s honeymoon was not the one to which she intended to merge. Two years later, she has sent Obama a notice of separation by ballot. Obama is now suffering a marriage crisis, as it were, with the American people. Whether he will or even can resurrect himself as the great changer they can believe in is the subject of one of the longest chapters in Predictions for 2011.

There will be some Democratic Party gains in state governor elections: Cuomo in New York, geriatric Jerry Brown in California. A senate victory in Connecticut…

ASSESSMENT:
All correct predictions.

…yet Republican Pat Toomey will be a new US Senator from Pennsylvania

ASSESSMENT:
Correct. Toomey won against Democrat contender Joe Sestak.

The Republican Mark Kirk will win Obama’s Illinois Senate seat as well.

ASSESSMENT:

Correct. Mark Kirk got 48.4 % to Democrat Alexi Giannoulias’ 46.1%Tea Party candidate Rubio and Rand Paul will win a Florida and Kentucky Senate seat respectively

ASSESSMENT:
Both correct predictions.

…and I do not rule out significant roles for these Tea Party leaders, rubbing the Republican establishment raw in Washington DC.

ASSESSMENT:
I think we’ve already seen some of that role of behind the scenes influence with Senate elect Rubio and Paul twisting the arm behind closed doors of Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell to about-face on his stance not to support a moratorium on earmarks in legislation passed in 2011.

Impetuous Mars is in Sagittarius on Election Day. The God of war and new beginnings seeks to be carried off by the enthusiasm of the crusade of disgruntled voters. Watch their exit poll interviews. The voters will be Marian in their directness, in their Sagittarian arrow shots at Obama and the Democrats.

ASSESSMENT:
That happened.

The martial slogan, “Take back America!” will out trump the old “Change we can believe in!”

ASSESSMENT:

That happened in the House of Representatives, certainly! But the GOP-Tea Party tsunami could not manage to flood a majority back into the Senate, though the Democrat majority is slightly treading above water with 51 seats including 2 leftist-leaning independent Senators against 46 Republican-Tea Partiers. Where the Republican tsunami did drown Democrats was in 19 state legislatures switching from Dem-Blue to deep Republican red. They also made gains in state governor seats.

The new slogan [“Take back America!”] is just as vague-faith based and irrational as the old. The next two years will repeat the last two. These mantras lose their mojo exhausting themselves in their own too often uttered chant, sound and fury, signifying no significant change and definitely no America returned to normal, whatever that ill-defined, chest beaten “normal” might actually be.

ASSESSMENT:
Remember this prediction in 24 months. I will prompt it up for review after the 2012 elections in that far off future November.

Jupiter (the planet of higher expansion) on Election Day is in Pisces in retrograde conjunct wacko Uranus, also in retreat. This configuration of planets in magnified combination and retrograde can give an a more conscious individual the capacity to feel compassion and deep feeling for others, but in politics, the lowest potentials of a mob-ocracy mindset can make the voting public undisciplined, impatient, irascible, expecting too much change to come too soon. They brusquely seek to burn the bridges over from where change might finally arrive.

ASSESSMENT:
Another prediction that time will judge. I will elaborate on this vision with a detailed account in Chapter 2 of Predictions for 2011 about what we might expect in the first and second halves of the new year in a riotous US Capital.

Saturn in Libra rules the paradigm of accomplishing good through cooperation with others. When afflicted it can help a Supreme Court warp the letter of constitutional law deeming that a corporation is a human being, a citizen with equal First Amendment free speech rights like you or me who do not generally have an army of lobbyists and lawyers, or billions of dollars available to influence campaign advertisements.

ASSESSMENT:
A coup by corporations masquerading as regular citizens is underway.

These new citizens are more “equal” than you or I during this midterm election. These corporations-cum-citizens can dig deep into their deep transnational company pockets to spend a record breaking half-billion dollars on political campaigns, left-wing or right, without revealing the money bag’s location, even if the cash comes from other nations, like China, trying to influence American elections.

ASSESSMENT:
The number is in the billions of dollars actually. Unprecedented influence of multi-national “citizen” corps is now influencing your votes from 2010 onwards. It is the most significant threat to American civil and constitutional rights in my lifetime of 55 years and counting.

Without such “citizens” the Tea Party, movement would not have been taken for a ride by the Washington DC Republican establishment into the halls of power when the new US Congress convenes in early 2011.

ASSESSMENT:
One of the greatest Washington scandals in 2011 will be a revelation to what extent foreign money financed both sides in the 2010 elections but especially what flushed the Tea Party movement with multinational cash. Remember you read a heads up here.

Uranus on election day is also in dreamy, politically delusional Pisces and it will influence a collective subconscious and impractical idealism of those who would replace the vacuous Democrat mantra, “Yes we Can,” with their own simplistic mantra: “Take America back!”

ASSESSMENT:
That is what is happening. The coming six months will vindicate that contention, I’m sorry to say.

Uranus (ruler of change) retreating will influence a majority of voters to pass a mandate of anger that brings into power legislators that will avoid unpleasant challenges and realities for two years. They may keep planning for the short term, deregulate the banks, avoid the issue of establishing a functioning Health Care system, let the housing bubbles bloom, cut taxes whilst the debt bomb, buried around the corner of America’s near future like a hidden IED is waiting.

ASSESSMENT:
When all is said an done, when all the chest thumping and talking pundit head pumping is over in 24 months, little progress will have happened. We’re heading for a split Congress, for gridlock. It will lead to the most fractured presidential election since 1860. I speak at length about the future scenarios of entangling candidacies for 2012 in Predictions for 2011.

Uranus in retrograde will, “Drill baby, drill!” past oil’s peak. There will be no talk of real sacrifice to gain America’s energy independence. The world’s weather will keep changing. Mother Nature’s fevers will rise but denial of global warming will reach even higher temperature levels. America will waste two years it and the world can ill afford to lose. It will not be a leader in the defense against increasing Climate Change unless the President finds that voice as well and leads us there with a public pressuring for congressional support.

The people tomorrow [2 November 2010] will vote in a historic two years of political gridlock on pressing global issues, such as climate change just as the tipping points of our civilization’s unsustainable consumption of Earth’s resources approach.

ASSESSMENT:
Climate change is the great game changer on all levels of human life and hopes of or fears about the future. Obama must turn the tide of the man I predicted that came to his destiny too soon. Change comes unripe. The year 2011 is critical. Obama must “change” and grow up, or fail as I detail in Predictions for 2011.

Neptune retrograde in Aquarius is like a fog on Election Day, throwing caution and reason aside. The irrational vote is king and crazy talk is the language, paranoia and conspiracies the projection.

Speaking of the heroically crazy, Delaware Tea Party candidate Christine O’Donnell the reformed masturbating witch of Bill Maher’s 1990s show Politically Incorrect will lose her Senate election bid but gain a seat at Maher’s TV panel table.

ASSESSMENT:
Correct. She lost big time in the election as one of the Tea Party embarrassments. We’ll see if she appears on Bill Maher. That’s a real prophetic long shot.

However, there is another contestant running for the unofficial title of weirdest candidate most likely to embarrass herself in the hallowed halls of the US Senate. Yes folks, Sharron Angle, will defeat incumbent Democrat Majority Leader, Harry Reid tomorrow unless Las Vegas can rig the election in his favor.

ASSESSMENT:
Wrong. She lost receiving 44.6 % to Reid’s 50.2. It was a margin of 40,000 votes. I would say though that Harry Reid “did” get his political machine high rolling in the capital of casinos that the mafia built. There was the million-dollar last-minute media blitz. We will find what IOU’s Reid got politically paid and to what extent he had to pay politically karmic IOU’s to corporate interests to retain his seat. There’s a scandal waiting for him in 2011. The Republican opposition will exploit it to deflect attention to their own corporate whoredom.

Last but not least to explain what is the astrological background on election day. This is year two of an era starting in 2008 setting the stage for a history show that won’t exhaust its run until 2024. I speak of the transit of Pluto through the sign of Capricorn. Pluto last passed through Capricorn just shy of 250 years ago. It enjoyed the theater of another Tea Party movement consisting just as the modern day variant did of predominantly white folk, faces painted, clad in exotic costumes, causing a ruckus.

The first Tea Party dressed like American Indians, hatcheting and flinging wooden boxes of tea off British ships in Boston harbor to protest taxation without representation. They also tarred and feathered folk who didn’t agree with them or supported English trade.

The new Tea Party isn’t drop-kicking tea boxes but it will help the Republican party pitch over the side a historic number of incumbents.

ASSESSMENT:
The Democrats lost 67 seats in the House of Representatives in the largest sweep since the Democrats added 75 seats in 1948. The GOP won 6 seats in the Senate dramatically shrinking the Democrat majority there. The GOP took 5 state governor seats from the Democrats. More than 100 new freshman House Representatives are coming to the Capital next year. The election was an incumbent turkey shoot.

THE FINAL ASSESSMENT:
This was my first try at mid-term election forecasting. My oracular strong suit is presidential elections, based on victory by popular vote. So far, after 11 tries since 1968, I have had 11 successes.

So let’s review how I did for Midterm election forecasts:

WHAT I GOT WRONG
1. Republicans win both houses of Congress.
2. Democrat Senator Barbara Boxer loses California Seat
3. Republican Sharron Angle takes Democrat Harry Reid’s Nevada Senate seat.
4. Democrat US Senator of Washington Patty Murray loses to Republican Dino Rossi.

WHAT I GOT RIGHT

1. Republicans sweep the House of Representatives.
2. There will be a historic sweep of incumbents out of office.
3. Democrat Cuomo wins New York governor’s seat.
4. Republican Toomey beats Sestak in Pennsylvania’s US Senate bid.
5. Tea Party candidate Rand Paul wins US Senate Kentucky seat.
6. Tea Party candidate Rubio wins US Senate Florida seat.
7. Republican Christine O’Donnell loses bid to win Delaware’s US Senate set.
8. Republican Kirk wins Obama’s old Illinois US Senate seat.
9. Jerry Brown will be California’s new governor.
10. Russ Feingold loses his Wisconsin US Senate seat.
11. The midterm elections will be a referendum on President Obama.
12. Democrats win the US Senate seat in Connecticut.

I would say there were a number of other prophetic successes that time will bare out, but if we just look at the most objectively verifiable 16 predictions, I got 4 wrong and 12 correct. I scored a 75-percent accuracy for my first oracular stab at a US mid-term election forecast.
