A CIVIL WAR REPORT: Part One—A Tale of Two Christian Martyrs, First Up: John Brown Who Launched a Hot American Civil War
I am presenting the first of two “sent away men.” My dog-eared 1970 edition of the American Heritage Dictionary defines the source of that phrase in the following word in many-layered ways:
Apostle 1. Usually capital A. One of a group made up especially of the twelve witnesses chosen by Christ to preach his gospel. Luke 6:13-16. 2. A missionary of the early Christian Church. 3. A leader of the first Christian mission to a country or region. 4. One of the twelve members of the Mormon administrative council. 5. One who leads or advocates a new cause. John Brown was a New Englander born in Connecticut in 1800. He spent much of his religiously formative years in New England’s Abolitionism central, the Commonwealth (US state) of Massachusetts. This frontiersman, farmer, tanner, but first and foremost a devout Puritan Christian zealot, added preacher to his many trades and callings, and in the latter days of his 59 years on Earth, Brown became a fire-breathing, sent away man from New England all the way West, armed, along with many of his grown sons, on his crusade into a proto-civil war bleeding the Kansas Territory in guerilla-on-guerilla conflict between pro-slavers and anti-slavers, both trying to convert Kansas, with statehood looming, to either become a pro- or anti-slave state.
In October 1859, Brown was sent at last away to meet his final destiny, leading 21 men in a raid on the US arsenal at Harper’s Ferry, in the slave state of Virginia, with secret funding from many of New York and New England’s leading Abolitionists—one of which was the husband of Julia Ward Howe, who would later write a new setting, composed of passionately biblical lyrics, to a popular Union soldier’s marching song originally called “John Brown’s Body.” Julia Ward Howe would replace the bawdy lyrics and changed the song’s title to the Battle Hymn of the Republic. It became the theme song of the Northern Blue States, a stirring hymnal of their righteous cause in the American Civil War waging war against the slavery of the Gray-clad forces of the slave states of the Confederate South.
All of this came to a head in great consequence of what John Brown did at Harper’s Ferry—not passively pray to God for, but hear God in his heart take ACTION—his long-plotted plan to arm the Southern Slaves in full rebellion, similar to that which Haitian slaves had successfully achieved, overthrowing their French white masters in Haiti in a slave war of liberation (August 1791- January 1804).
In Louis A. DeCaro’s introduction to his 2005 book Fire from the Midst of You: A Religious Life of John Brown (New York University Press), he wrote, “As an evangelical Christian, [John Brown] not only read the Bible as God’s word, he read the Bible as God’s word to John Brown. He believed that the scriptures continued to speak to life situations, radiating fresh truth and directives without obscuring its original and primary meaning. For him, God was speaking afresh on the enslavement of the African, and this was the ongoing theme of his devotional life. It guided his actions, guided his values, and gave him strength. His piety was inseparable from his deeply felt call to destroy slavery.” In short, DeCaro later added, John Brown believed that he was “an instrument of God.”

Brown survived his raid at Harper’s Ferry long enough to be tried and hung by the State of Virginia for inciting a slave riot. In 1861, and on the second-year anniversary of his martyrdom, the song “John Brown’s Body is a moldering in the grave,” was often heard being sung by Union Bluecoat columns at the opening of the American Civil War. The war would kill, wound and bury those who died of disease and exposure to the elements, moldering with Brown in 615,222 Northern blue and Southern, grey-coated graves. Add to that 50,000 free black civilians, 60,000 documented slaves, and tens of thousands of undocumented slaves succumbing to disease moldering in graves because of what John Brown believed (and accurately predicted) was a great loss of lives that was divinely necessary. All American people, North and South, had to bear four-years of civil war and a great purging of blood to wash away the sin of slavery. Call it America’s blood sacrifice of over 1 million Americans!
Halfway through the Civil War, London’s Emancipation Society published a 22-page document, read at their public meeting on 2 December 1863, entitled The martyrdom of John Brown that righteously defended and celebrated his ultimate sacrifice as indeed “an instrument of God” that other sent away men in arms dressed in blue would finish the job Brown began as slavery’s first significant casualty of the Civil War. The London document rightly presaged that Brown’s “death blow” to slavery in the United States, his sacred obligation to initiate, would be “in full, filled.”
This John was not a meek and mild Apostle John, whom Jesus loved like a younger, innocent brother. He was a Jeremiah-fire-breathing kind of Apostle John. He found the mostly pacifistic abolitionists all talk and handwringing with not an ounce of intestinal fortitudinal “DO.” He was the movement’s sent away man. The American Heritage Dictionary’s “one who leads or advocates a new cause.”

The leading black Abolitionist Frederick Douglas was one of many key abolitionist associates of John Brown. The two of them once spent an entire night, at the Free Church in Springfield, Mass, sometime in December 1847, discussing the matter of pacifism versus violent action.
I imagine Douglas, over that long night, pondered in person the calm strength and faith confessed to him by “the Apostle” Brown bearing witness to the latter path of violence and action being the right and only way to end slavery.
Brown didn’t come to that conclusion philosophically, He learned it from first-hand experience going on clandestine trips into the South helping free slaves and whisk them north along the secret path and network of safe houses, code-named “the Underground Railway,” a network of white and many black abolitionists, including former freed slaves, that risked their lives stealing themselves deep inside the slaveholding states to liberate African Americans by the thousands.
Douglas, face-to-face, watched Brown illuminated in candlelight, intensely listening and weighing Brown’s every word. He heard Brown bear witness that even if violence was required, he was only following Christian ethics, including the Golden Rule and the Declaration of Independence as well. Did it not say that “all men are created equal?” He stated that in his view, these two principles “meant the same thing.” (See Sanborn, Franklin (c. 1900). John Brown and his friends. Frederick Douglas was a changed man after that discussion.

Killing slavers in “theory” in 1847 became practice eight years hence.
John Brown, with five of his sons, got his baptism of fire after they all moved to Kansas Territory in the spring of 1855. In the following spring, Brown and his sons killed five supporters of slavery in the Pottawatomie Massacre in 1856, marking Brown and his kin as outlaws in the eyes of pro-slavery Kansas Territorial law enforcement. In his own eyes, he was just the instrument of God’s vengeance upon those leaders whom he and his sons had plucked out of their beds in the middle of the night and killed forthwith. They led a gang of slavers with torches on horseback, riding into pro-Abolitionist Lawrence, Kansas, in the middle of the night, setting the town on fire while the people slept.
The climax of his righteous fight came when a who’s who of notable abolitionist leaders in New England and New York bankrolled John Brown’s plan to lead a raid with a small army of men, including all but one of his sons, to raid the armory at Harpers Ferry, then in the State of Virginia, that the civil war would later on divide, creating in the pro-Union state of West Virginia early in the oncoming Civil War.
When the raid finally took place, Brown only had a force of 21 men. They cut the telegraph wires in Harpers Ferry, gathered hostages there, his band turned others wagoning into town away. These people wagoned back to a neighboring town to notify the government of the raid at a working telegraph station. A company of US marines were dispatched, soon advancing into Harpers Ferry to do battle with Brown’s little band, and his sons.
You would think what happened next, before the shooting started, was right out of a Hollywood Warner Brothers’ Studio movie, like the black and white 1940 classic, The Santa Fe Trail. You might think the movie bent fact to place at the incident destiny’s three important, future Civil War icons: Brown, the catalyst who started it making a stand against US forces led by two soon-to-be future generals in the civil war.
Sometimes truth is stranger than presumed Hollywood fictionalizing.
We have the Civil War’s bible-bashing catalyst, John Brown holed up in the US Army’s Armory, surrounded by a company of US Marines led by a dashing US cavalry officer (played in the movie adaptation by Errol Flynn), who was factually none-other than future Confederate Cavalry General, Jeb Stuart. The overall commander of the Marines at Harpers Ferry would be none other than the former Superintendent of West Point Cadet School, Colonel Robert E. Lee, the future Confederate South’s finest Commanding General who led its greatest force, the Army of Northern Virginia.
When I recently saw the movie again after many years, I thought I was watching some Hollywood mythmaking when the fetchingly, handsome First Lieutenant Jeb Stuart was ordered by Colonel Lee to parley with the holed-up Brown men inside the Armory. He nonchalantly tied a white flag near the point of his curved saber and bravely stepped out into the open walking up to knock on the armory’s shuttered doors full of dangerous men and frightened hostages, to request Brown and his men surrender.
Brown, in the movie was played rather wild-eyed prophet-like by Raymond Massey. At least Massey kept the melodramatic “roar” in his gaze and replied with a measured intensity, “We prefer to die here!”
Message received, “Jeb” removes himself quickly from the door, running to the right side of the Armory, moments before the Marines unload a hail of led from breach loading carbines at it, with cannons blazing.
All of that was not a Hollywood moment. That was what Brown said to Jeb Stuart, and that’s how it all went down. Soon after, all of John Brown big plans had all gone “with the wind” with real gunshots and shells. The best laid plans of mice and sent away Apostles, would not see thousands of slaves rise in rebellion around Harpers Ferry, Virginia, with Brown’s men handing them pikes and muskets. Only a handful of slaves came along to fight and mostly die before withering US Marine gunfire.
Brown’s detailed Provisional Constitution that he had composed, as a revised version of the US Constitution for a freed of slaves United States, never got read. The Marines battered down the main doors with seven of Brown’s men killed, these included his son Oliver Brown who fought in Kansas and died from his wounds at the Armory. The other son Owen, also a veteran of Kansas, successfully escaped the disastrous raid. Also killed were four townspeople earlier with one Marine wounded and another killed in the final fight. Ten of Brown’s men were wounded and injured, including John Brown going down with a Marine carbine’s butt to the back of his head after the Marines charged in.
Historian Paul Finkelman leaves us a general assessment of John Brown’s rebellion, concluding that he showed himself to be nothing more than a “bad tactician, a bad strategist,” even, “a bad planner,” but all the same, adding that “he’s not a good general”—but unlike Raymond Massey’s melodramatics portraying him, John Brown was “not crazy.” (See, Ken Chowder. ““The Father of American Terrorism”. Virginia Governor Henry A. Wise would interrogate the prone and head-bandaged Brown for several hours in the Armory Office where the survivors were held and would request his state’s right over Federal court to charge Brown for treason committed against the State of Virginia. President James Buchanan didn’t object. Brian McGinty, author of John Brown’s Trial (Harvard University Press, 2009) explained Buchanan’s agreement:
The answer provided in 1859 was more political ~ than legal. The president of the United States and the governor of Virginia decided that Brown would be tried in Virginia for treason against the Commonwealth of Virginia, and that is where he was tried. This decision thrust Virginia rather than the United States into the role of the offended sovereign and contributed incalculably to the widening abyss between North and South. John Brown was condemned not as an enemy of the American people but as an enemy of Virginia and, by logical extension, of Southern slaveholders.
The week-long trial was held in Charles Town, the county seat of Jefferson County, Virginia. On 2 November the jury deliberated for only 45 minutes, finding him guilty of all three charges of murder, “conspiracy to foment a slave insurrection,” and treason. Virginia State law required that capital punishment happen exactly a month later, to be hung by the neck until dead, set for high noon, 2 December 1859.
According to court procedure, the convicted was permitted if he wished to speak before the court and argue his reasons for not seeing his capital punishment imposed. Hence, John Brown, still suffering from his concussion, rose from his cot and kept his balance with one hand steadying himself on a desktop. He then made the following recorded statements, a speech that Ralph Waldo Emerson later on declared was equal to President Lincoln’s Gettysburg Address delivered later in the middle of the Civil War that presently would soon follow not long after Brown was hung.
In my opinion, Emerson’ judgment is more emotional than factual. Brown’s first objection, as I understood it, was denying that he ever intended to incite a rebellion, slave or otherwise, which I think is a stretch on credulity. However, what he explained next in his second objection was spot on when speaking back to power; moreover, it was prophetic:
I have another objection; and that is, it is unjust that I should suffer such a penalty [of death]. Had I interfered in the manner which I admit, and which I admit has been fairly proved (for I admire the truthfulness and candor of the greater portion of the witnesses who have testified in this case), had I so interfered in behalf of the rich, the powerful, the intelligent, the so-called great, or in behalf of any of their friends, either father, mother, brother, sister, wife, or children, or any of that class, and suffered and sacrificed what I have in this interference, it would have been all right; and every man in this court would have deemed it an act worthy of reward rather than punishment.
This court acknowledges, as I suppose, the validity of the law of God. I see a book kissed here which I suppose to be the Bible, or at least the New Testament. That teaches me that “all things whatsoever I would that men should do to me, I should do even so to them” [Matthew 7:12]. It teaches me, further, to “remember them that are in bonds, as bound with them” [Hebrews 13:3]. I endeavored to act up to that instruction. I say, I am yet too young to understand that God is any respecter of persons. I believe that to have interfered as I have done as I have always freely admitted I have done in behalf of His despised poor, was not wrong, but right. Now, if it is deemed necessary that I should forfeit my life for the furtherance of the ends of justice, and mingle my blood further with the blood of my children and with the blood of millions in this slave country whose rights are disregarded by wicked, cruel, and unjust enactments, I submit; so let it be done!
Over the next month before his hanging, John Brown received a mountain of letters of support, and he tried to answer hundreds of them. Despite fears that he should not speak to the press as it might incite more division in the nation and more threats of slave rebellion, once convicted for death, all restrictions were dropped. The press flooded in to record his motives and intentions.
To those who wrote their desire to rescue him from his fate, he declined any rescuing as he excepted it as God’s will that he be martyred for what he tried and failed to do. Interest in the doomed man spread through newspapers to Europe. Even Victor Hugo, the author of The Hunchback of Notre Dame and Les Misérables, who was at the time exiled from France, living in Guernsey, Britain, made great efforts to gain Brown a pardon, for if it wasn’t granted, he foresaw civil war coming next in America. He then put the forecast in writing in an open letter sent to the London News soon to be read across Britain and later all over the British Empire:
Politically speaking, the murder of John Brown would be an uncorrectable sin. It would create in the Union a latent fissure that would in the long run dislocate it. Brown’s agony might perhaps consolidate slavery in Virginia, but it would certainly shake the whole American democracy. You save your shame, but you kill your glory. Morally speaking, it seems a part of the human light would put itself out, that the very notion of justice and injustice would hide itself in darkness, on that day where one would see the assassination of Emancipation by Liberty itself.
On the morning of his hanging, John Brown’s last words—his last accurate prophecy—sometimes underlined with emphasis, were written down for posterity’s sake:
Charlestown, Va, 2nd December, 1859. I John Brown am now quite certain that the crimes of this guilty, land: will never be purged away; but with Blood. I had as I now think: vainly flattered myself that without very much bloodshed; it might be done.
He set his handwritten words down just before he was led out on his last life’s ride, sitting calmly on his own coffin on a slow-moving wagon, heavily guarded by ranks of US Army infantry, the solemn procession heading to an open grassy space were the gallows waited for him surrounded by more arrayed US soldiers in a square formation around the gallows. The overkill providing security caused the commander Major Preston to remark that, that man who was about to be strung up in public would be witnessed by “the greatest array of disciplined forces ever seen in Virginia!”
One year, four months and ten days later, the American Civil War would erupt. Virginia, and much of the other seceding Southern States, including border states like Maryland, Kentucky and Union States like Pennsylvania, would see far larger arrays of massive armies doing battle. Even President Lincoln in 1864 would watch a battle in the distance outside of Washinton D.C., regarding the masses of men in blue and masses in grey as they sought to kill each other, brothers against brothers, firing, grappling and bayonetting each other with deadly discipline in far greater hosts than Major Preston or any American before him could have ever conceived possible back on that cold December day, back in that soon-to-be forgotten pre-war world before the civil war broke out and forever changed the nation.
Few, however, would ever forget that man henceforth, swinging by a rope, who had moments ago mounted the scaffold, alone, without need of a consoling preacher by his side as he was a preacher and a Prophet himself. Witnesses said that John Brown stood there with “the most complete fearlessness and insensibility to danger and death” before Death strangled him with a rope around his neck.

Like Victor Hugo, like the martyr Brown has foreseen and accepted as God’s will to an uncivil land, the American Anti-Slavery Society foresaw John Brown’s execution, if it hadn’t happened, if he was granted clemency instead, that would have deflated “so much capital…out of the Abolition sails.”
John Brown as a buried martyr, “a molding in the grave,” gave rise to more militant feelings in the soon-to-be-blue and heavily mobilized abolitionist Northern States as it did equally speed up the secession and mobilization of the soon-to-be-clad-in-gray Southern pro-slavery state forces.
Responding to news of Brown’s death sentence, Ralph Waldo Emerson presaged that “[John Brown] will make the gallows glorious like the Cross.” (See David W. Bright’s article, “He Knew How to Die”: John Brown on the Gallows, December 2, 1859″)
Brown would become in the North one of the most significant Christian martyrs in American history—a feeling that’s still quite alive even to this present day. In death he was a Christian Rock Star—or better, A “Rock of Ages, Come to Me” rolling star, as the famous hymn was sung across African American communities in the Northern States on 2 December 1859. They even let ring their church bells in honor of his sacrifice upon that day. He had become a prophet, even to notable African Americans leaders such as Martin Delany, Henry Highland and the formidable Harriet Tubman, of “Underground Railway” fame. She regarded John Brown as a mentor and longtime friend. Fergus M. Bordewich said of her that “Tubman thought Brown was the greatest white man who ever lived”, (see “John Brown’s Day of Reckoning”. Smithsonian Magazine. October 2009).
US historian Paul Finkelman would add that Tubman further declared that John Brown did more for American blacks than Lincoln did. According to Brown’s friend and financier of his Harpers Ferry raid, the rich abolitionist Gerrit Smith, he said, “If I were asked to point out the man in all this world I think most truly a Christian, I would point to John Brown.” (“Gerrit Smith and the John Brown Raid”. Frederick Douglas in his writings and speeches when civil war came in 1861, visualized the soul of John Brown marching with the blue-coated Union troops against the Gray. As I pointed out earlier, the first year of baptisms of blood and fire saw many a Union unit marching down dusty or muddy dirt roads heading to battlefields singing to the steady and stalwart rhythm of a popular soldier’s marching song, named “John Brown’s Body.”
The sometimes-vulgar lyrics were intended to anger the Confederates they were firing at. Here is a sample of the lyrics:
John Brown’s body lies a-moldering in the grave;
John Brown’s body lies a-moldering in the grave;
John Brown’s body lies a-moldering in the grave!
His soul’s marching on!
CHORUS:

Julia Ward Howe, the wife of John Brown’s chief patron Samuel Gridley Howe that I introduced earlier, together were deeply involved with ant-slavery politics and staunch supporters of the Union’s cause. Mr. Gridley Howe was one of John Brown’s “Secret Six” fundraisers backing Brown’s anti-slavery crusades and especially his history-changing act of compassionate terror at Harper’s Ferry.
Julia as I wrote earlier was a talented poet. She took that soldiers’ song John Brown’s Body, changed the title and lyrics, calling it The Battle Hymn of the Republic, and sold her poem for $4 to the Atlantic Monthly in February 1862, read by millions across the Union.
The South had jaunty marching tunes like Dixie, and The Bonny Blue Flag that their bands played into battle, but John Brown’s Body, uplifted by Mrs. Howe’s lofty words of religious grandeur, became the entire North’s iconic Marching Song, raised to a higher level than “John Brown’s” rather vulgar “moldering” one moment, then singing of giving Jefferson Davis the Confederate President diarrhea before they hung him by a tree, and so on. Mrs. Howe’s cleaned that soldier trash talk up and turned it into something sublime.
That marching song became holy, like the Bible, bonding the Union to the Lord’s vengeance on Judgment Day with extracts from Isaiah 63: 1-6 and Revelation 19, plus Revelation 14:14-19 inserted.

His truth is marching on…!
(Julia Ward Howe doesn’t just intend these lines meant for only the Passion of Christ’s crucifixion. It is not only Christ that is marching with the troops or having built him an alter to preach. It is not only Jesus who had let loose a fateful lightning with his terrible bold swift sword. It is also John Brown’s sword. Julia Ward Howe’s stirring words are equally meant for the Spirit and the Passion of John Brown and his ultimate sacrifice!)

If the US Congress continues to sustain and intensify a partisan deadlock between Republican and Democrat legislators into the early decades of the twenty-first century there will be a Balkanization of America, either caused by a bloody civil war or revolution, beginning by 2020.

History doesn’t repeat itself, but it does rhyme.

One hundred sixty-five years, nine months and eight-and-a-half-days after John Brown’s neck was fatally broken by a hangman’s noose around noon (Eastern Time) on 2 December 1859, a conservative American Christian Nationalist, political activist, entrepreneur and media influencer, Charlie Kirk, faced an equally instant death, fatally shot in the neck by an assassin’s bullet. He had just answered a question about his views on gun violence. It was during an opening “question and answer” session attended by a crowd of several thousand mostly college students in an open-air amphitheater on the campus of Utah Valley University (UVU) in Orem, Utah, on 10 September 2025. Kirk was killed 23 minutes after high noon (Utah Mountain Time). This married young father with two small children was one month and four days away from celebrating his 32nd birthday.
Most Americans heard about Charlie Kirk’s assassination by the following day—a somber day of remembrance for Americans. It was September 11. The shock of Kirk’s killing—after the news had spread on the twenty-fourth anniversary of 9/11 terror attacks—cast a further gloom on that terrorism anniversary day. What made that day even darker was how it conjured up half a nation mourning, and half the nation not mourning at all, about Charlie Kirk’s brutal public murder. The social media was rife with liberal media influencers, professors, politicians and an assortment of wokishly insensitive people Tik-Tok-ing gush about, and X-“posing” their brazen celebrating of Kirk’s murder with a “liberality” of psychotic gay abandon, that would lose many their jobs for it. That instant karma just made such celebrators of Kirk’s death even angrier.
9/11/2025 harkened back to other dark American times when it seemed that the United “States” of America might actually experience what the United States “is” becoming the United States “are” again. In other words, a new threat of a breakup of the union of states in preparation for a repeat of the last American Civil War moving beyond the previous conflict of Blue Union Northern versus the Gray “Confederation” of Southern states. Charlie Kirk, a sent away man, a Christian Apostle embraced by a new generation of conservative youth. Many of these had “seceded” from the Blue Democratic Party in the 2024 election, to swing the vote to Donald Trump and the MAGA (Make America Great Again) movement.
This is not “repeating” a John Brown’s martyrdom making Kirk a catalyst of a new civil war. History rhymes but it also reverse-mirrors the past in present, karmic-echoing times. The country’s people are dividing up once again into two polarized halves, Blue liberals and Red conservative Americans rather than Blue anti-slavery and Gray pro-slave states.
The new division of the American people is a reverse reflection of the last civil war, and I feel like Alice in the Looking Glass passing into that potential future mirrored with many things reflecting backwards.
For instance, the Blue Americans mourned Brown’s death, rang bells for him, girding their resolve to do something about saving the Union while the Gray Southerners, fed up with the Union, were dancing in the streets celebrating Brown’s hanging.
The Grays of the past were a karmic echo for the Red conservatives of the present. Now they’re the ones mourning Charlie Kirk’s assassination, and for the first time are deeply, collectively angry at those over in the Blue “dis-Unionists” camp who virtually danced on his grave.
The Blue Union liberals past, like today’s Red MAGAS today, were slow to burn until John Brown’s hanging changed all of that over the months that followed.
In the Looking Glass I see the Red MAGAs having been slow to burn. Over the last several years they stoically absorbed the 2020 election fraud, the Blue liberal lawfare hits, like the Federal government under Biden persecuting thousands of people who “didn’t” riot in the Capitol Building on 6 December 2021, many of which were stuck in jails for months before even getting their day in court.
The Red Americans today, like the slow-to-burn Blue States shortly before last civil war, for the first time showed real, collective anger at the blue Liberal Americans dissing a dead Kirk. Fires of blue lefties were also fanned by Trump’s new FBI’s rush to judge that a liberal meanie in love with a furry transgender man did the deed, even though Tyler Robinson is looking more like a Lee Harvey Oswald patsy. I don’t know if the Feds have even let him see a lawyer yet.
There are wrongs on both red and blue sides blazing.
Red America is mad about the vicious celebration of death of a major MAGA influencer. For the first time I’m seeing online many MAGAs openly venting and talking for the first time about a fight coming, soon over the horizon of the future, with the blue side. Ugly, Red, Tik Tok talk has put a target crosshair on Blue Democrat Americans, as a warning.
Before the Looking Glass of 1860, True Blue, once hated slavery, but in the looking glass today, they now seem open to suppression of free speech, cancel culture, even pier pressuring some of their own mentally vulnerable numbers, to self-enslave and imagine their mental disorder of gender dysphoria, and all the mental confusion over it, is a sacred right, rather than a mental disease requiring psychological assistance.
Don’t any non-bluey point out how that’s not a sane move.
Who knows? Maybe the next thing the Woke movement will defend as an inalienable right is standing up for sociopathic or psychotic actions as your sacred American freedom to pursue at the threat of other Americans.
Woke cancels you, off handedly, if you are against this line of irrational thinking. In the looking glass, the Blue Unionists of 1860 have become in 2025, more open to severing Unionist ties with Red states once and for all in this new “looking glass” rhyme rather than fighting to keep all Americans and their states in the United States union.
History rhymes and reverse images itself also in periods of time that both John Brown and Charlie Kirk experienced through prophecy’s looking glass as a growing period into their destiny, then acting, and dying for it:
John Brown talking with Frederick Douglas all-night, one December night unspecified in 1847, bore witness to his friend that pacifism won’t bring freedom to the slaves, but violent action might. Brown had just then concluded and converted himself into being a Righteous Christian warrior in 1847, with a new vision ready to bleed the nation of its slavery sins.
By 1855 he stopped talking and started spilling blood. He marched right into the proto-civil war that was beginning to bleed the Kansas Territory. By the following year, he was killing slavers aided by his sons. By 1857 he was looking for funding his long thought-out plan to launch a Haitian-style slave revolt, an uprising of African slaves in the South.
By 1859, John Brown had the abolitionist financial support, and his band of slave liberators made their attack on Harpers Ferry Armory to start that slave rebellion that failed. By 2 December 1859, John Brown was hung for it, becoming a martyr for the cause of Abolitionism.
The time lapsed that it took John Brown, starting in December 1847 to violently act and be tried and hanged for his attack on Harpers Ferry, an act that immediately made his hanging the catalytic agent for rapidly ripping asunder the North and the South in a “hot” American Civil War, staring on 12 April 1861, was 13 years, 4 months and 12 days.
We come now to Charlie Kirk’s time lapsed. We start on 5 June 2012, when Kirk founds his TPUSA (Turning Point USA) that soon becomes a major revival of Christian Nationalist force that would be pivotal in carrying Blue young, moderate Democrats tired of their party leadership and direction being overlorded by an extremist Woke minority, started listening to Charlie Kirk. Through him young blue moderate Democrats joined with MAGA Trump conservatives to help President Trump win a second, delayed final term in office with a majority control of the House and Senate at least for the first two years of his final term. Charlie Kirk only continued to rise in influence in the MAGA/Blue moderate Democrat movement until he is shot dead in Utah on 10 September 2025.
From destiny defined and launched on 5 June 2012 to his assassination on 10 September 2025 took 13 years, 3 months and 5 days.
In my view, John Brown’s hanging immediately leads to the unravelling of the Union between the Blue and Gray States. It was seamless. He was the match, his death struck—and the tinder of civil war was dry and aching—for the in-flame-ation of the nation starting on 12 April 1861.
Not so with Charlie Kirk.
Things in the potential approach of a second “Cold” Civil War are more open-ended and a bit murkier because it is argued by me earlier that the “Cold” Civil War has already been slowly, cold-bloodedly slithering like a reptilian snake in slow-motion actions since the fraud Presidential Election of 2020 has already seen Democrats in power begin the boa-constriction of a cold civil war of lawfare on Red American conservatives.
The Presidential Election of 2024 has now given the ever-vengeful Trump and the Reds in power in House and Senate a chance to take revenge and reply with their own cold boa construction, applying the same, tightening, suffocating outrages of lawfare against the Blue Liberal Americans with the Red slim minority in the US House and the US Senate. The Cold Civil War has been on since 2020, and it will reach its climax in 2026.
So, here is how the rest of the first half of President Trump’s final term in office could potentially pan out.
If Trump stops abandoning his MAGA base and brings more attention to his domestic promises that they voted for, the Cold Civil War cold-cocking American democracy altogether might be avoided.
Trump has very good astrological help in his final two years if he could just suffer through his nasty aspects tempting tyranny as 2025 ends, up to the midterm elections near the end of 2026.

A CIVIL WAR REPORT: Part Three—A Deeper Dive into Charlie Kirk And the Limit of Genius vs. No Limits to Mediocrity when a False Socratic Approach to Debating may be Masquerading as a Proselytizing Sophism
Charlie Kirk (even his last name comes from the German word Kirche (i.e. Church) was not always a humble Christian when he was debating people, or so I contend. He even made “Prove me Wrong” his challenging motto, postered on the tent he sat under, inviting one undergraduate after another to test what measure of learning they possessed that their parents spent a fortune on in their college education. One after the other these undergrads underperformed. They got caught on camera, experiencing public embarrassment over being shown how stupid their expensive teachers had been as their teachers, becoming blubbering products left standing in the aftermath of Kirk’s incisively righteous “know it all” approach. For the most part, he did know much more than they. And “Goddam!” He was secretly proud—perhaps even secretly unknown by himself—showing off what deconstructive powers he had over stupid people.
There was “ego” involved and that is contrary to the Socratic method that Socrates created, for he was an Enlightened man with no ego remaining. He knew that he knew “nothing.”
Kirk believed he knew something, as only a “believer,” rather than a “knower,” can mistake.
The Socratic method has been defined as a form of dialogue, where a teacher (called a partner) guides a student (known as the interlocutor) through a series of questions to stimulate critical thinking and lead the interlocutor to his own conclusions, rather than lecturing them or providing pontificated answers.
This method aims to encourage deeper understanding by innocently challenging underlying beliefs, unquestioned “givens” and dogmas. It’s a kindly process delving into illogical inconsistencies in the way that are dropped in a journey of self-discovery achieved through persistent, but even-handed and respectful, questioning. In a way, the method is akin to the Indo-European root for the world “Doubt.”

A CIVIL WAR REPORT: Part Four— Further Reasons Why 2020 was the Year the Cold Civil War Began
Indeed, the year 2020 marked a big step towards a second civil war where a hysterically motivated shut down of the country and its economy tried to slam the door shut on the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic though a national quarantine, stopping American life in its tracks, ignoring Americans’ First and Fourth amendment rights of free speech and privacy.
That was the first unnerving social blow that happened in 2020, and it set the stage for the next, having a nation sequestering all voters in the 2020 Presidential and Congressional elections via mail-in ballot that turned out to be rife with ballot fraud, uncounted ballots, ballots with the same name and address on thousands of ballots, all favoring the election of Joe Biden, who was sealed away and hiding in his basement for most of the presidential campaign to sequester him from cameras that could better document in public his gathering dementia…
These are the kind of partisan, uncivilized, undemocratic and unconstitutional threats coming at the nation from two men who would be a certifiably senile Biden, and Trump later, beginning his descent into dementia. In Biden’s case he won via millions of fraudulent ballots. Four-years later in Trump’s case he won fair and square but would take his revenge for what happened to him in the 2020 election. So what I astrologically warned above [in 1997 that a Cold Civil War might begin in 2020] is not a prophecy about only the near future after the 2020 election.

He wrote it in 1900 while protesting the Philippine-American War, by lampooning America descending into Imperialism:

I’ve said over the last few years that we would have to weather many Cuban Missile Crises, like we did a year ago starting in October 2024, just before the election, when moribund-brained President Joe Biden, via automatic mechanical penning of his orders written by others, launched my foretold “Ukrainian Missile Crisis” firing long-range US-guided missiles deep inside Russia, to which Russia declared such actions as “an act of war by the United States upon Russia.”
We’re all still breathing today because President Putin of Russia and the Russians showed restraint, while eventually hunting down and destroying all the launch platforms, and their CIA crews, put in Ukraine that fired the missiles. Then Biden and his auto-pen pushers ran out of time on 20 January 2025, when Biden had to be rolled out of office to let Trump replace him.
Crisis over?
Here we are now, as I write this, I see Trump becoming Biden’s cognitively declining twin president, more aggressive and mentally incontinent, even. At this moment, Trump has turned from peacemaker of the Alaska Summit to full-scale neocon. And he is openly considering right now, while tomorrow might become another “missiles of October” moment, a possible Cuban Missile Crisis moment waiting for the Halloween trick or treating month, thinking of giving Ukraine Tomahawk missiles, and other missile systems to strike at Russia’s fuel industries.
Here we are…again!
It’s October again…tomorrow as I write this article.
We’re on the verge of entering a SECOND Ukrainian Missile Crisis.
But it doesn’t end there.
I hope I’m wrong but at the time of writing on 30 September, a second and catastrophic round of attacks on Iran by Israel involving perhaps US forces may be finding a place to explode upon us in October.
[UPDATE: 9 November 2025, war loomed but it did not strike. That doesn’t mean we are out of the danger. Sometimes in such times like Mars in Scorpio from 23 September through 4 November is not when wars erupt. By the time you read this, Hamas will have released the last surviving Israeli POW hostages that Zion’s jet bombers haven’t “Hannibalized” already, i.e. killed as part of the ongoing Hannibal Directive that has the IDF seeking to kill Israeli hostages so that the Zionists don’t have to trade swap each living Jewish hostage recovered for freeing hundreds of Palestinian prisoners, many of them women and children, stifling for years in Israeli prisons built in the West Bank where nearly a million Jewish settlers illegally live among 5 million Palestinians whom they oppress.
Step one of this Ceasefire is achieved, out of 21 steps, far more difficult and contentious steps, to go. I predict the First Step will be the last step, because either side is not going to go through all the harder steps, like Hamas giving up its weapons and Israel abandoning the Gaza Strip, allowing peacekeepers, mostly Moslem Indonesian troops, so the rumor has it, to play security guards keeping the peace between the two factions.
Long before the time you are reading this, you’ll already know this ceasefire is a cease-farse and the genocide and the denying of food to the starving Palestinians has resumed…

The Russian Ministry of Defense (MoD) in their daily reports have never been more open, confident and detailed about what is going on at the different Ukrainian fronts, including their intentions to put a ring around Kharkov next year, after the Kupiansk pocket is destroyed by the Russians bagging 20 Ukrainian brigades. The MoD also made it clear in the mapping of their goals that they intend to take more Russian-speaking Oblasts back into the Russky Mir (the Russian civilized world) beyond the Dnieper River, including Nikolaiev and Odessa.
I’ve been documenting the following vision for years. The Russians keep extending the battle line so that when breakthroughs and encirclements develop, the Ukrainians generals and clown president begin to panic. The Ukrainians pull units off already sorely pressed defense lines at the Prokovsk and Kostyantynivka encirclements to thin them there while trying to save 20 brigades being encircled in Kupiansk, Kharkov Oblast. That would only hasten the Russians finishing the encirclement and destruction of 40 Ukrainian brigades at Prokovsk and Kostyantynivka.
[UPDATE: 9 November 2025, I wrote the above around 24 September. Prokovsk has fallen to the Russians, just now. Thousands of Ukrainian soldiers of 20 brigades are trapped on the east side of the Oskal River and the Russians hold the western bank either with boots on its ground or a cloud of killer drones over it, diving on any Ukrainian tank, truck or lonely soldier tring to wade through the open marshy land to escape. The Russians are also collapsing the Ukrainian defense line farther southwest in Zaporozhye province. Life disappearing from this small planet will make the whole universe so poor that it will take millions of years to come again to this state where consciousness can become enlightened.
