I stumbled across your 1998 Almanac [1000 for 2000 Startling Predictions for the New Millennium] in a most profound and inordinate way. I was duly impressed by your formidable effort to produce this catalogue and more so by the contents and their correlations. I believe you to be a man in awe of the Creation and its Author, a man with a passion for the conversion of knowledge to reverent wisdom, thereby paving the way for truth and justice to stand unopposed. For this alone I raise a hardy, bravo!

With deep respect for your individuality and the privacy that it commands, I ask in all seriousness a question that on the surface seems quite benign. My reason for prying into your psyche is one of maligned ego perhaps, nonetheless my curiosity requires taming as I feel your response may align with my own deliberations as to the subject matter.

My question, if you care to answer… “Does wearing a beard have particular significance to you and if so could you elaborate?”

As you are no doubt aware, the wearing of a beard is obligatory for men of certain faiths and although I myself am a devout Christian, I concur with the dissertations of these faiths in relation to the nature of mandatory beards as a mark of respect for natural processes bequeathed by the Creator and duly sported by His earthly incarnation, Jesus. Your view?

Dear Lou. I love your question, so much so that I will share it and my response to the entire Hogueprophecy Internet community.

It is natural for a man to have a beard, just as it is natural for a woman not to have a beard. Why should one do violence to one’s face by cutting across it each day? Moreover, if you grow your beard long enough, you will not even feel it on your face, whereas, when you shave all the time or wear a short beard you will always feel its scratch. At a certain point I felt it ridiculous to do further violence to my face so I stopped shaving in my early twenties and have never shaved since.

The other advantage to having a beard in a world of shorn men is that I always know if people see “me” – what lies underneath the physical. Some people are immediately exposed as being “skin deep” when they can’t get beyond the way I look. Some people aren’t even skin deep. They are so imprisoned by their imposed cultural habits that they can’t see down even to my skin. They see the beard and stop there.

There’s also something to say about how many mystics all over the world often have beards. I think it comes from the general thread of thinking or feeling that to be mystical is to be relaxed, venturing inward and thus that relaxedness inwards shows itself in a let go into naturalness outwards. The mystical men and women I’ve known are often natural. The men don’t shave; the women don’t shave their underarms and short hairs. Why do such violence to the body, especially in such tender places?

Some will say one should shave for the sake of hygiene. Some will use the “H” (hippie) word like others look at black people and use the “N” word. It’s the same. It is prejudice hiding behind the name of hygiene. I for one have known many “hairy” people and they were all very clean and hygienic. They also didn’t have infected faces, underarms and panty lines from shaving burns and razor rash. They didn’t wear the sickly stink of aftershave and perfumes. They didn’t paint up their faces like clowns using makeup.

I have no problem with clowns who shave and wear colognes and perfume, other than these things making me sneeze and bringing tears to my eyes. I don’t mind that I have to wash my face when I kiss them because their clown makeup came off on me.

I try to live as best as I can naturally in an unnatural civilization without disturbing the robotic habits people are forced to adopt when being conditioned to be functional cogs in the wheels of societal thinking. It isn’t their fault or mine that we have been conditioned to take on the mask of being creatures of cultural habit. Meditation has helped me see my conditioning and begin a rehabilitating return to living in a natural state appropriate for my unique equality to all other unique beings.

People have their own timing to change. I wouldn’t force a person to stop being society’s costumed, groomed clown until they are ready in their own good time to pull the false eyelashes off, the false clown faces and put away the razors, etc.

Then I think, if Jesus wore a beard and was OK with it, why not me? Why not every clean-shaven Christian?

Did you know that the image of Buddha in the statues is not the way he looked? He was a bearded holy man. The image used for Buddha was that of clean cut and shorn Alexander the Great who had invaded India a few centuries after Buddha lived. Up to that time the symbol of Buddhism had been a Bodhi tree. Isn’t it strange that an egoistic man opposite to meditation and enlightenment in every way would become the image of millions of idols of egoless Lord Buddha?

In my book Messiahs I wrote a whole essay about how we put upon the face of authentic masters our phony names and egoistic images. Yeshua becomes Romanized with a fake name, Jesus Christ. His people call themselves even today by a derogatory name the pagan Romans gave them, Christians. It means “mini” or “little christs”. Cult pigmy Christilites.

It is an “N” word, folks. And you who call yourselves Christians have adopted this N word and pray to your master addressing your prayers to a completely bogus name that is also good for cussing.

Perhaps that is why one can yell “Oh Jesus Christ!” but one can’t gain the same angry satisfaction yelling “Oh, Yeshua!”

Perhaps this is because the first is a phony name. The second is the true name of the purported Son of God. I mean, try it. “Oh Yeshua!” just doesn’t make as good a cathartic expletive as “Oh, Jeeesus H Chriiiist!!!”

If God named him Yeshua, who are you Christenettes to call him by an Imperial Romanized name unless you are part of a Roman religious cult?

The Roman Empire never deposed the religions of the conquered. They Romanized the people, their goods, their gods, their messiahs and religions. The Romanization of Yeshua into Christ is perhaps their greatest pagan achievement, because after two millennia so few Christians seem aware of this spiritual compromise.

Again, it is not your fault. You’ve been had by your societal conditioning to misname yourselves and Yeshua. Now that you have become aware of this, perhaps you can rediscover this beloved one in a fresh and new light. Your prayers can ascend with a new enlightenment to the right source.

This is my hope: if you are offended by what I have said just now about the name Jesus Christ and Christianity, consider for meditation that it may be your conditioning that is offended. Perhaps this anger is not coming from the true “you”. It is coming from an emotionally robotic program imposed in your subconscious by others who trained your mind to be as utterably in the dark as they are about what glory and light lies trapped underneath the mask of ego.

Truth cannot be offended by anything. Only illusions take offense. What we call our selves is often a cloak of illusions imposed by others who in turn had delusions coated over their souls. Strangely enough, it is no one’s fault. It simply happens. Hell is synonymous with unconscious Happenstance.

Which brings me back to the bare faced lie of Lord Buddha being worshipped in the image of a fascist world conqueror of the 4th century BCE. In the Messiahs essay I compared this to having the image of Christ worship be that of Napoleon Bonaparte.

Have you ever noticed that all the great Fascist societies such as Imperial Rome, Napoleonic France and the Third Reich of Adolf Hitler, want their men cleanly groomed with no long hair or beards?

One could say that shaving is not only a fashion statement but also a “fascist” statement.

No more the blond and bearded barbarian. Hitler’s new German barbarian was clean cut and groomed on the outside, yet a hairy savage Nazi stormtrooper on the inside.

Look how modern society, especially American society, is lurching towards the Fascist right. The short-cropped democrat president Barack Obama governs more like a neo-Richard Nixon Republican moderate. Heck! Ronald Reagan wouldn’t be elected in a Republican primary these days.

Even sexuality is becoming cleaner cut Fascist.

Look at the intimate erotic fashion popular these days with young women on the prowl for a man. They bare their little trimmed Adolf Hitler pubic mustaches to the Nair smoothed and unfrocked follicle member of a prospective mate for a frolic.

Let’s be fair though. Yeshua wore a beard but also Osama bin Laden wore a beard. Buddha was a vegetarian, so was Hitler and Yeshua ate meat. A beard being mandatory in certain faiths and theocracies is just as Fascist an idea as making it obligatory to be clean-shaven in others. Dogma is ever a shallow minded phenomenon. It makes the religious fixate on the surface look of things, bald or hairy-pated. They miss encountering and exploring the soul, which has no beard or clean-shaven original face.

How the human mind is programed to take the natural or the unnatural in twisted ways says less about the virtues of being clean cut or being natural and says more about the collective human mind’s current state of unconsciousness and insanity. And if at this point some of you are asking why I am going on about this subject at length in a prophecy website it is good for you to know that the generally unconscious state of your minds make the future what they will, rather than your suppressed souls under a mind’s sway. If we are unconscious to our insanity and do not bring humor and meditation’s light to shine on it, the future will be as un-funny dark and hairy as my beard rather than as clean as Kirk Douglas’ dimpled chin. The Latin  sanus is the root of the English sanity, and health. Sanus is also the root word for “clean”, for sanitation.

Being Clean or natural is the same as being sane.

So let us have a good brain washing.

Our brains are full of crap borrowed from others to cake a dark ego coating over our luminous souls. Let meditation give our minds a good moment-to-moment cleansing so that they can be sane, clean again, with naked, naturally intelligent innocence.

So look at yourselves and at others beyond the shaved faces, the beards, the bald or bushy underarms or the Hitlerite lean to hippy lush short hairs. Look deeper than the beard on my face. Look inside at the insanity that is the motor of our dire destinies. Wake up. Get sane and see your futures turn golden.

“Deepak” from India took me to task in Mumbai 9-11: Part Five (see 26.11, India’s 9-11). In the series I tried to explain how Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorist commando attack on the financial district of Mumbai India on 26 November 2008 was intended to pull India into another — and potentially nuclear — conflict as per al-Qaeda’s strategic aims, which are to unite the Islamic world to fight infidels thus fulfilling Islamic apocalyptic prophecies. Mahatma Gandhi, before his assassination had predicted that partition of Pakistan from India would create four large-scale wars. Three of those wars have since been fought. If there is a fourth, it could be nuclear effectively killing more Pakistanis and Indians in South Asian than all who died in the First and Second World Wars combined.

In the Mumbai 9/11 series, I reprised segments of an earlier set of articles describing the border standoff in late 2001 early 2002 between India and Pakistan just after al-Qaeda had launched its terror attack on New York City and the Pentagon on September 11, 2001. Kashmiri rebels trained by al-Qaeda elements had tried storming the Indian Parliament in December 2001. After which, Pakistani and Indian forces gathered along their shared frontier. Nuclear arsenals of both belligerents were on a hair trigger. More frightening to me than this were the mass rallies in Indian and Pakistani urban centers. Millions on either side urged their governments to drop the atomic bomb on the enemy. Many blithely believed that nuclear blast effects and plagues of radioactivity were nothing new to what Indians and Pakistanis suffer from earthquakes or monsoonal floods. They could take it — please drop the bomb with our blessings. Our India, our Pakistan will live forever, according to our prophets.

This incredible naivety lurks underneath the masses. Perhaps it embeds deep in the mind of “Deepak” who wrote the letter below.

All religious fundamentalists of every cloth, be it orange of Hindu, black of Islamic, or the somber cloth of Protestant collared reverends or the rich raiments Catholic priests, presume divine beliefs prevail untested. I wrote about it in greater detail here: See Messiah. The righteously faithful serenely believe they will survive any apocalypse they might have to unleash on others. Here is one of them:

I read your article and well don’t agree with your Analysis. India survived 1,400 years of Islamic and British rule. Swami Vivekananda and Swami Ramakrishna were the reincarnation of Lord Ram and Lord Krishna. They did not predict the destruction of India ever. They have only spoken of India’s rise. Many other saints have predicted the same. Indian horoscope also shows the same.

HOGUE
There is a famous story of Ramakrishna giving his disciple Vivekananda siddhi (psychic) powers and was admonished to use them wisely. Instead, he used them to plant a thought in a simple disciple’s mind that he should throw into the river the rocks he used to represent the gods for worship. Ramakrishna found out and promptly took the powers away. Vivekananda pleaded for them to be restored but Ramakrishna compassionately forbid their use as long as Vivekananda lived because his ego was too strong to resist misusing them and he needed to learn humility.

He was sincere and a great messenger for his Master, Ramakrishna, but his master tried very hard to help him go beyond that self-absorbed spiritual narcissism. Ramakrishna’s message was delivered well by Vivekananda to the West, and he is one of the pioneers of the great shift of spiritual values from the East to the West gradually taking place. Vivekananda, however, was only a messenger and not a living “message.”

When I see Ramakrishna (left), still as a statue, propped up by his bewildered disciples, in the famous picture, gone, gone, completely lost in the light of the gap… Who cares about who was born as whom? All distinctions are lost in that blissful light of Now-Eternal. Only top-heavy people lost in the dark recesses of minds piled high with religious jargon and thoughts care about whether Ramakrishna was Lord Ram. As I see him in the photo, Ramakrishna is not thinking. He is free. He is beyond all dry-boned and drop-dead punditry. He is gone, gone, beyond Lord Ram.

You don’t know for sure, Deepak, but you would like to think Ram and Krishna never said there would be an end to India.

All things of this world — India included — end. Lord Krishna “had” predicted your end, my end and India’s eventual end, albeit indirectly. Read the Gita. Krishna often speaks of transience of the egoistic world. With that in awareness, think. Where is “Bharat”? Gone. Where is the Mogul Empire? Where is the British Raj? Gone, gone completely gone.

India? Pakistan?

It takes no prophet to tell you that your current political construct called “India” will go the way of Ashoka’s Empire and the way of the Kaurava’s whom Arjuna slaughtered with his arrows with Lord Krishna guiding the chariot.

Where too has Arjuna gone? He has also passed to the Himalayas in an icy tomb of avalanche. The evil, the good, all the chapters of India, even “chapters” as a concept will pass away in Kalpas (great cycles of time) coming.

India will end. What is important is whether the witnessing Atma ends. Who cares about transient illusions like India, or the USA, or this “John Hogue” or that “Deepak” — all dust. What about the consciousness behind these masks of illusion, Deepak? That ought to be your concern, not the further existence of the idiotic political posturing of Maya.

Then they are projecting their chauvinism. India will vanish like Mohenjo Daro and Harappa, like the throne of Hastinapura. It is the nature of things. Yet, egoists like your saints and astrologers would project their belief as fact against the passing of kalpas. Such folly.

DEEPAK
There will be problems which Indian horoscope shows and K N Rao predicted about the turmoil in India during the Bombay attack. Indian astrology is quite competent to show what lies ahead and its also has a dark warning for the coming years.

HOGUE
Indian astrology is the most competent. I know from direct experience. I’ve lived in India and met with many of your astrologers. Unlike the West, Indian Astrology keeps the calculations simple and doesn’t clutter them up with the needless additions of every piece of floating space rock to clutter the interpretation with noise.

I have a large South Asian readership. They’ve been asking for predictions about India and I will provide them with many in my forthcoming book Predictions for 2011. I will say this, one dark warning for which India must prepare is a natural disaster of floods and storms in the next Monsoon Season of 2011 that will rival those besetting Pakistan in 2010. Orissa, West and East Bengal in particular should brace themselves. Also, there will be more terrorist attacks in September and November of 2011 issuing out of Pakistan from Lashkar-e-Taiba. Once again the targets intended will be where Westerners gather and spiritual retreats. If security is high and awareness vigilant these attacks will not succeed.

Back to Indian Astrology. It is the finest in the world. However, that doesn’t mean that on occasion egos like those possessed by some of your Indian-chauvinistic seers will be any less myopic than chauvinistic American astrologers are about believing and projecting upon the stars an illusion of the eternal progress of America. All things of this mortal world rise and fall like a wave on eternity’s ocean.

The question I ask my self is this: shall I fixate on an identity of wave or remember that I am the ocean?

I will stand with Ramakrishna transfixed and gone in devotion of Ram.

First, a few words about “the Great Lie.”

Hitler in Mein Kampf freely shares his secrets on how he would seduce a people to adopt his intolerant vision with their eyes wide open. Keep your propaganda simple, and if the lie is brazen — lie big, because as Hitler accurately forecast, “Only a big lie succeeds in politics!”

Hitler before he committed suicide in his bunker in 1945 foresaw the return of Fascism. If that was more than the vain hope of a dying madman it will succeed because people of the present and the near future adopt his fundamental political device.

Tell a lie as the truth and keep telling it until it becomes a hypnotic suggestion.

Tell a lie like Newt Gingrich let slip in an interview on Fox last week that all Muslims are synonymous with Nazis, or foment and follow that popular right wing suggestion that “Obama is a Muslim.”

Tell these lies frequently and with time we will see more and more people believe it as we are seeing today in America. Use then this rote lie to undermine fact, undermine truth. Undermine the world.

The above was a hard thing to say but it must be said. Said and balanced by alternatives. Bitter beginnings are a blessing, because they can lead to sweet endings.

I offer the final installment of the Path of Trust Series, taken from my book Messiahs. I have only altered the opening (see brackets) to cover an important milestone approaching in my spiritual life.

[October 15 is not only Nietzsche's birthday but it is my birthday. My second birthday, actually. A new birth. On that day, seven weeks and four days from this posting it will be 30 years-and-counting that I met Osho in India. I've been testing his] experiments, and I haven’t really figured out anything. In the beginning I had many questions. When my master responded, he didn’t answer them as such; it was as if he made my questions vanish. Over time the clouds of questions slowly disappeared and left behind just a sky made of answer.

Not all of his hypotheses agreed with me, but that was not a problem. My master always encouraged me to follow my own way, to celebrate being as equally unique a human being as he was. If something didn’t work, it only meant that we still needed to find techniques in meditation or therapies that harmonized with my individuality. The essential hypothesis he suggested to me was that ultimately existence itself is the teacher.

Life is the master.

When I also discovered this through my own experimentation, I began to see the master’s sutures of insight slowly become my own.

Thus I begin to understand the second step a disciple takes with a master. You begin to experience union with him or her. In the beginning you fall into a rhythm with the master as your most cherished beloved, but it is not a romantic affair of soul mates. The one-on-one coupling I’ve shared with women in this life, as rich and fulfilling as it has been, is nothing compared to the disciple-master relationship. It is one-ego-on-no-ego. It is one I-diot in love with a Nobody. It is a one-on-zero affair. You are somebody. You are trying to be something whereas the master is a no-thing being. And there’s the mysterious paradox. He is full of this emptiness, he is a monsoon cloud bursting with rain, and like rain his emptiness nourishes a thirsty soul. Even the pitter-patter of his showers on the roof of your resistance is comforting to you.

The master is an empty void that has a bright awareness about it. You feel that he has arrived. Yet he is a vacant, non-present presence. A body walks up to you and talks to you. A man dances with you but even though the body is total and animated in its moves, it appears just as empty as a corpse. You dance with him and become aware that this corpse is far more alive than you. It is as if the sky decided one day to hide inside the shell of a human body so it could relate to you and love you. The only hint of the sky’s masquerade is the bright and penetrating emptiness of his eyes.

You find yourself falling in love with zero. It is like the legend of the great lovers, Tristan and Isolde. They adored each other with such intensity that they both disappeared into that love. They became so aware of love that they became love. Love liberated them from being egos, from being limited in time or confined in sexually identified minds and bodies. They became love’s eternity, love’s endless sky. In the same way, staying close to a master you begin to disappear into his state of union and non-separation. Tasting his no-thing-ness, your starved soul begins to become wet with his nectar. Once this has happened, once the master gets his emptiness under your skin, his physical existence becomes irrelevant. The sky was not the body. It was just visiting you. You are not the body either. In those moments when the master merged with you, he showed you that you are also the sky hiding behind form.

To merge with a master is called Satsang. There is no appropriate translation in any Western language for this Sanskrit word. I can say this, from my own experience: Satsang happens when you come close to a master, so close that his emptiness helps you to dissolve into “it.” Suddenly, unexpectedly, you disappear into his whole in the clouds. The mind and all its thoughts fall away; the emotions and all their turbulence of hurts and expectations vanishes. You become light and lightning-bright with the same focusless attention of the master. Satsang is a coupling. He has disappeared and so have you. For a moment there is no master, no disciple. No-thing.

At this juncture prose must be left behind. The language of books is a language of the clouds, of the idiots; its expression is extraordinary. Language separates, distinguishes. Words and sentences are like Tristan-and-Isolde egos before they dissolved into no-ego. Language dissects the flower of a master-disciple union into its parts. Language divides and dismantles the mystic flower of Satsang until it lies in pieces on the floor, killed. The only way to understand what I’m saying is to find a master, sit with him or her and disappear into his love and awareness.

A look with no intention.
A robe of green, fluttering,
Like a poplar tree sage in a desert.

A moonlight leaf,
Causing the cockerel to purr in the almond tree.
The hum held in your hands,
The eyes wide open gazing backwards
At something beyond the seen:

The one you recognize in me.

A rocking moves my frame from nowhere,
And meeting draws closed our eyes.
And you never saw me.
And I never saw you.

So that we could re-member.

Through moments of Satsang with my master I have tasted the essence of the Apocalypse [Revelation] of the Awakened Ones. As far as I understand it, this is one of their secrets: No messiah as such is coming to save us. The savior sleeps within each of us.

Worship not the awakened mystics. Understand them as the reflections of your own divine potential. Their physical sojourn on this earth is an invitation to ignite the fire of your sleeping consciousness. To indicate this truth, they led you from the periphery of the outer apocalypse to the untapped majesty hiding within self.

Five hundred fires across drought-stricken Russia burn a failing wheat crop while a monsoon flood displaces 14 million Pakistanis. The monsoon has at least two more months of downpours to wring from tempestial skies. The drought in Russia will also continue into October if what the Boulder Colorado-based National Center for Atmospheric Research says is correct and Russia’s drought is linked to the powerful climate engine of monsoons in South Asia growing wetter and more extreme. The NCAR reports that a 2 degree Fahrenheit rise in the Northern Indian Ocean since the early 1970s has juiced up the monsoon low-pressure storms that by consequence strengthen drier and stationary high pressure centers over Russia and Siberia.

Back in Part Two of The Path of Trust, we looked at the poetic, ancient meaning for the Sanskrit word Guru. It depicted a spiritual teacher as someone full of love like thunderclouds in a monsoon swollen with rain that cannot contain it. The Guru in an over abundance of monsoon bliss must let “its” sky open wide to drench all, whether gales of compassion should nourish the starving soil seeking new inner growth or fall upon insentient rocks and the opened umbrellas of sterile hearts.

What is happening across Pakistan and South Asia is the antithesis of this metaphor. The dried mind of collective human egoism is unconsciousness incarnate, heating up the climate with its pollution, raising ocean temperatures that feed more ferocious weather phenomena of deluge and drought not seen in living memory.

The Guru of enlightenment’s silent thundering and choiceless release of love may be the remedy. Here then is a somewhat autobiographical overview of my own guru experiences taken from my book Messiahs. The guru that showered upon me helped me walk upon the path of trust down within my own inner truth in two steps. In step one, the Guru first becomes your deprogrammer then your inspiration to experiment on your own.

Real trust has no conditions attached. A real guru is an inspiration, not an enslaver. He nurtures a trust in experimentation, rather than nourishing your blind belief. An authentic master won’t give you a belief to follow. A messiah like Adolf Hitler demands blind belief. A real master strives to make you aware of many unconscious pathologies that keep you unblissfully unaware of your true nature. You know you are in the presence of a real guru when you find all your expectations exposed while living with him. If you don’t let them go they will be, figuratively speaking, rubbed in your face.

Usually incidents with other disciples reveal your ego trips in the day-to-day affairs of life in the master’s spiritual community. At the same time a real ashram also gives you a safe haven to go through often painful revelations, because you can see you are not alone. Everyone has their ego trips being exposed there. Also, you take encouragement to look deeper into yourself because you see how many around you are becoming happier and more integrated human beings.

The ashram is a hard place for ego trips to sustain themselves, but it is a garden nourishing one’s rise to clarity and happiness. Being a member of a real master’s community of disciples doesn’t make you dependent or turn you into a spiritual slave. If at first he requires you to surrender to him and to the regimens of his ashram it is no less an unreasonable request then that made by a surgeon who asks you to remain on the operating table until his surgery is finished.

It takes great intelligence to surrender yourself to a guru. He can say or do something outrageous, even unjustified, but if something he says or does as a device causes you to leave his presence in the middle of the surgery, you are the loser. You have chosen trifles over transcendence. The master doesn’t care about being politically or religiously correct, he cares about you. He wants to upset all your judgment ducks set in a neat row by your society. He has the compassion to poke a stick into the spokes of your finely tuned morality. He’s there to show that both good judgments and bad are worthless if they are borrowed.

A true master wants to destroy the chains connecting you to all arranged marriages with hand-me-down knowledge. He wants to pull the plug on your past and short out your fossilized traditions. He’s out to turn off your ego’s TV so the empty screen will reflect the couch potato pundit that idiotic life has made you. A master holds up a mirror to your face, risking his life for you, because most people don’t want to see their true reflection. They can break the mirror, persecute and even kill its holder. A true disciple, however, may cringe at the image of himself or herself, yet be grateful that the master cared enough to show the reflection of an adopted persona — a mask — no matter how ugly it may be. If the mask isn’t exposed by someone, how can you take it off and see your original face?

In the first step towards becoming unbearably light with ordinary being, the master is your surgeon. Sometimes the operation to relieve you from conditioned habits and borrowed identities is as painful as peeling off your own skin. The “honeymoon” with the guru may be over, yet one who is willing to learn must trust this mysterious doctor. You must follow the instructions of the master-midwife and bear down on the waves of contractions as you give birth to your own lost understanding of who you really are.

After the cathartic work is finished, the master’s next job is to pose experiments that the disciples must test for themselves. In my own case, my master admonished me gently but firmly to always remember that if during self-observation I dislike what I see coming up out of my unconscious, then face it. If I want to avoid something in life — never avoid. When fear stands up to paralyze me — go into that fear.

“That’s the only way to finish it,” my master said, “otherwise it will haunt you like a shadow.”

Anger, greediness for this and that, fears, pride, phoniness, etc.—name your worst nightmares from the ID (your IDiot nightmare), then see them come at you like a demon. Don’t shrink back. Do exactly the opposite of what your society’s conditioning says you should or should not do. In my case I faced — and still face — my demon programs. The ego, when faced straight-on rather than avoided or repressed, simply vanishes. I watch these programs as my master instructed, without judgment for or against, mindful of my breath, relaxing. What is watched isn’t “my” thoughts and feelings, they are “the” thoughts and feelings, passing in and out. They are mental traffic on the mind’s freeway and I’m sitting by the side of the road. Sometimes the freeway is empty; sometimes there’s a traffic jam of thoughts and emotions. The trick is not to get caught in the traffic, but just to watch the “cars” go by. Let the cars of thought honk and weave and fender-bend after their own destinations. Putting it another way, my being — my “watcher” — is like the sky. There is a “seeing” of clouds floating by — puffy-white and smiling or dark and thunderous — across empty sky.

A real master doesn’t want you to believe his or her statements. Belief to a true master is a cuddly euphemism that masks a state of blind ignorance. A master teaches you to either know something as your own experience, or to accept all that is unknown; and above all, he lays before a disciple the hypothesis that you can celebrate everything — happiness, sadness, life, death, all of it. He teaches acceptance of yourself, of others, even acceptance of nonacceptance.

A master will tell you often that he is just an ordinary human being, like you. He’s no messiah or God-man or avatar come to take up your sins or your responsibilities.

He’ll say you don’t need saving. You need “waking.”

That’s the only small difference between you and the master. You are extraordinarily sleepwalking through life and he is ordinarily awake.

Once a sleepwalker, now an awakened one, the master will declare, “If I can wake up so can you.”

(By the way, Saddam Hussein, the dictator of Iraq, intentionally set off the greatest oil slick disaster in history during the Persian Gulf War of 1991 spilling over 10 million barrels into the Persian Gulf from oil tanker harbor pipelines detonated in Kuwait by his retreating Republican Guards. Though Deepwater’s oily sheen stretched for a time across an area the size of Pennsylvania from late April to early July, now in early August NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmosphere Administration) declares 75 percent of the goo is gone. “Absorbed” to be exact. The corporate media eats up this report like anaerobic ocean bacteria tucks in tar for tucker with little to no skeptical inquiry. Also the FDA (Food and Drug Administration) chases NOAA’s happy spill of spin with their own, that all the vertebrate fish and invertebrate shell fish swimming in that dispersant rich toxic mix of “absorbed” oil still raining down on oyster beds, crab and shrimp make these “safe” to eat. Big business must go on, it seems. Get those Gulf fisheries back on net line harvesting the ocean’s oily gilled and bivalved bounty. Get those people back to work before region-wide gulf state unemployment influences their votes for the mid-term elections.

Thank you dispersant toxins for sweeping the slick under the watery rug of the Gulf ocean surface. I wonder if short term profit and political gain might postpone a serious appraisal about just what impact on human health eating hydro-carbonated marine animals will have in the coming decade. Heck, American’ts postpone tackling the oncoming Debt Bomb, why not delay a serious investigation into the effects of the dispersants in what will be a crude dispersant pestilence upon human consumers?

We have a habit of not facing our toxic problems (social, economic and ecological). It reminds me of a consequential prophetic outcome written in Century 5 Quatrain 63 of Nostradamus’ history of the future, when he augured the following: “There will be several plagues upon mankind.” Many of these pestilences implied to be man-made.

This brings me back to another similarity between the oil spill summers of 1979 and 2010. Itox in 1979 and Deepwater in 2010 share summers remembered for their record-breaking and extended heat waves across the Gulf and Mississippi River states. Did both spills somehow have a toxic influence on water evaporation in the Gulf of Mexico that lead to very hot summers across the eastern two thirds of the North American continent? The historic hot summer of 2010 spikes much higher than the record swelter of 1979. The temperature rises in intensity parallel the increased size of the third and first worst accidental oil spills in history in a body of water from where much of the subtropical heat cast over North America comes.

Climate made famished for water evaporation by hydrocarbon steroids?

There has never been recorded such a wide-ranging and lingering triple-digit heat wave across the states of the American South and Mississippi Valley. NOAA predicted a hurricane season to rival the storms crowding 2005 when Hurricane Katrina devastated the Mississippi coast and broke the decrepit levies around New Orleans. The first week of August 2010 is nearly over with nary but one minor Hurricane Alex on the books. What has dried out the Caribbean and Gulf areas like 1979? Is it coincidence. Is it a fortunate spate of off shore wind sheer cutting down the strength of the “canes” before they are “able” to murder the Gulf with winds, storm surges and rains? Is it the Gulf waters, and a lot more?

The 1979 season, like the first two months of the current Hurricane Season of 2010 had only seen one weak hurricane (Bob for 1979; Alex for 2010) briefly visit the Gulf. Both in mid-July. Unlike July 2010, the Gulf in late July 1979 did experience a gully washer torrent of rain across the Texas coastline from tropical storm Claudette making it one of the most damaging tropical storms on record never to reach hurricane force; however, no other hurricane entered the Gulf until Hurricane Henry around 17 September 1979. Henry went down on the record books as was a rare example of a storm entering the Gulf of Mexico and dissipating without making landfall. Was an oily film from the Itox spill blocking the full evaporation feast of moisture it needed?

Is it a coincidence that the last time the Gulf had suffered a scab of an oily sheen in 1979 the weather patterns drew dry and record-breaking hot. Moreover, summer 2010 like 1979, is also a year enduring a strong though currently diminishing El Nino climate altering heat-up of the Eastern Pacific equatorial waters. Nevertheless, perhaps the collapsing El Nino in 2010 has enough strength left to quiet down the Atlantic Hurricane Season like 1979 and oil slicks have nothing to do with it.

A far larger oil slick in 2010, coincides with an equally and far wider ranging, triple-digit heat wave across the Mississippi Valley states all the way north to Minnesota. These and even the Atlantic seaboard states sweltered with mid-summer temperatures in the spring months of late April and May. Is it bad luck only that the Deepwater disaster started on 20 April? Does water evaporate properly when under the skim of hydrocarbons? Can a large portion of the northern Gulf laced with particulated hydrocarbons dispersed from the surface to ocean floor depths in vast oil cloud plumes not have some impact on the watery engine of atmospheric evaporation pumping subtropical moisture far into the temperate zone?

The fossil carbon farts of oil and coal make a Greenhouse Effect trapping the sun’s heat in the atmosphere reflecting the heat back to earth. Move from air to water, from heat trapped to heat reflected. Could carbon slurry in its pre-exhaust form in the ocean inhibit enough natural water evaporation under an viscous greenhouse rainbow sheen to render a subtle altering of weather patterns to a hotter degree? My rhetorical questions are not science. My intuition might be imaginary. Then again, perhaps the future climatologists will find some correlation.

What I’m pondering is not scientifically proven. Not yet. I wonder though how much mucking with the oceans can tip a slight degree of evaporation across a large enough water surface to slightly alter the rpm of the climate temperature engine running the motor slightly too hot.

From heat waves to fires we go…

There’s fire in the sky mentioned in a number of Nostradamus’ prophecies distressing a future time. A line of heat waves drawn over the map line of latitude 48 is the subject of Century 5 Quatrain 98:

A quarante huict degré climaterique,
A fin de Cancer si grande seicheresse:
Poisson en mer, fleuue, lac cuit hectique,
Bearn, Bigorre par feu ciel en destresse.

At a latitude of forty-eight degrees
At the end of Cancer (22 July) so great (is the) drought.
Fish in the sea, river and lake boiled hectic,
(Southwest France) in distress from fire in the sky.

I wrote the following interpretation 13 years ago for Nostradamus: The Complete Prophecies:

Nostradamus warns us against creating a future drought of biblical proportions that will burn a swath across latitude 48 in the Northern Hemisphere. Drawing a line across that latitude on a map, we touch on nearly all the world’s chief grain belts. Today’s amber oceans of wheat stretching across North America and the Soviet Ukraine revert to prairies and inhospitable steppes in the next century.

[Note the] quatrain Indexing Date: “Q98″ = 1998? In my last Nostradamus book [Nostradamus: the New Revelations, 1994] I correctly interpreted the increase in global warming after the mid-1990s when the dust from the eruption of Mt. Pinatubo [1992] that slightly cooled the world had cleared the skies. With this interpretation in mind, we can expect a wave of global droughts and heat waves by July 1998. From that time onward global warming steadily kicks in, disrupting weather patterns and the climate conditions needed to grow grain, start to shift hundreds of miles north of where they are now.

The year 2010 visits upon Russia the worst drought, brush and forest fires in 130 years of recorded weather history. The Indian heat wave before the Monsoon came in June killed hundreds if not thousands across South Asia. The US had endured sustained and historic bouts of triple-digit heat waves east of the Rockies starting since mid-spring.

Yesterday, the Russian Federation announced that all exports of grain will cease due to the crop damage caused by 2010′s sustained spring and summer droughts. Flames devour Forest and brush fires have become Russian wheat field fires. Prime Minister Vladimir Putin banned all grain exports for the next 4.5 months so his country can at least feed itself.

Russia is the third largest exporter of grain on this hungry and overpopulated planet. Russian fields of desiccating grain lie mostly along Latitude 48.

The quatrain’s indexing “98″ bears a second look. In 2001, a United Nations commission on climate changes declared that the 1990s were the hottest years on record in the last millennium. Climate science reports the tropics are expanding nearly 600 miles into once temperate zones demarcated by the tropics of Cancer in the north and Capricorn in the southern hemisphere. The Science Times reported that temperatures in 1998 shattered global temperature records. Since the spike of heat in 1998, every year since then records a hotter mean temperature than all the years before 1998 and the year 2010 is poised to shatter heat records of the hottest year of them all — 1998!

Back in November of 2009, I forecast the following:

“Be prepared for cold and snow filled winters to suddenly shift into greatly warmed meltdown floods. Great torrential wets will presage land-mummifying droughts in Australia, and the interiors of all inhabited continents in 2010. The only constant theme threading through next year’s weather forecast: extreme.” (Predictions for 2010)

Friends,
The flood of comments keeps coming in from recent blogs about calling hallowed saints psychos and describing a path of trust that is perhaps higher and truer a path than those of borrowed faiths. So, let’s fill up a new blog page full of community commentary as we explore part two of the Path of Trust with something I wrote for a book published in 1999 (for more information, click on Messiah).

The word Guru is a new victim in the serial killing of beautiful words by pop-culture. Apply it in titles like “guru of golf,” or the “gurus of Washington wonk” and you have secularized this Hindu term for a religious teacher to fit any Svengali of politics, sports or the arts. The technically correct dictionary translation of the Sanskrit word “guru” is the “venerable one” or “the spiritual master,” but that definition is a dead statue to anyone who has known and loved the real living and breathing article. The seeker touched by the presence of the guru knows a far more poetic definition.

A guru is like a great cloud, heavy with rains. So burdened is the rain cloud that it cannot contain itself. The heavy cloud must give the rain to the earth. The guru cloud doesn’t put conditions on where it deposits its rains; the guru cloud will equally share its bountiful showers on the sterile rocks and the fertile, thirsty soil.

A guru is a giving phenomenon.

A guru drowns its parched recipient with a monsoon of love, a cloudburst of refreshing awareness.

A guru doesn’t do anything. Just as the cloud doesn’t decide when or upon whom it releases its showers, a guru releases the heavy, bountiful silence and peace of his presence on everyone. And as with the rain, most people will just “open their umbrellas” and ignore this intrusion, while a precious few find the “soaking” inspiring.

In this latter group are the people who seek out gurus. They gather around the guru’s tranquil eye in the center of a cyclone that is an ashram — the guru’s spiritual community, or college campus of seekers and disciples. Dozens or tens of thousands of disciples can surround the guru of an ashram, and it can appear to outsiders and followers alike that he is their leader. It can appear that he is doing something to influence them. But a guru is not a doer. You could say he is filled to the brim with being.

Is-ness is his business.

The rain cloud doesn’t make an effort to grow flowers. Let the flowers and the rocks respond as they like. They are the doers. The rock does the drying off and forgets the rain; the seeded earth does the blossoming.

A guru is a catalytic agent. He or she precipitates a process in disciples without being involved in or changed by the consequences. He may walk and sit and eat and do the things other people do. He may help precipitate a transformation in his disciples as a result of committing some action that might surprise and shock the disciple to attention. A guru can be like a thunderclap—a rain cloud thunders whether or not anyone is there to be jolted to attention. The doing — or lack of response—to the Guru’s thunder is up to the disciple.

Each seeker of a spiritual teacher must bear witness to this mystery in their own unique way. I can say from my own experience that you know you are in the presence of an authentic guru when just his presence, his silence, is enough to bring new context to your existence. Just the fragrance of the master’s “Is-ness” can resurrect a forgotten knowing. Just his aura of no-worry, no-body-ness can nourish new buds of a lost innocence sprouting in a life lived in the drought-cracked land of society’s conditioning.

The guru is full of an emptiness you once had: a cleanness of mind and spirit you had forgotten. The guru is a catalytic agent for remembrance of a time when your brain wasn’t a dustbin for other people’s ideas and emotional baggage.

The master’s call is like the first kiss of humidity against the cracked and desiccated land. It is the electricity in the dry season’s stifling heat preceding the guru thunderstorm. You are expectant like the land. You trust that wet kiss on your cracked and desert-like face more than all the so-called better judgment dumped into you by your society’s mentors and tormentors. Something magnetic awakens inside and it draws you to his presence. Your heart leads the way, dragging the ego along like a cluster of cans clattering behind a honeymoon carriage. You go to the guru dragging your rusty bits of better judgment, ideas of love, and mental training along for the ride.

You go to your master. You take a risk.

Maybe society is right, and your guru is indeed a madman like a Hitler, or Jim Jones, or an Ashahara. Still you gamble that this one will not exploit you for his or her own messianic ego trip. You put your trust in your guru as being God’s madman, or as Godliness itself wearing a persona or masquerading in a brief illusion of form as a fly lure for the Infinite Fisherman to catch your heart.

Once it becomes clear that you have, for better or worse, already thrown your “deity dice” on this person’s crap table, you become your master’s disciple — you become someone willing to learn. This is fifty percent of the journey down the path of trust. In the second half the guru helps you take two more steps on the path.

Predictions for 2010 — Fulfilled and Pending

Back on 1 November 2009 I signed off the following prediction:

Surface to air temperature increase from 1960 to 2060.

2010: the Year of the Temperature Tsunami

“I foresee 2010 as the year things get hot and stay hot in the climate, almost as if this is a temperature tsunami rolling across the earth from northern to southern hemispheres of season change… It will be reported in 2011 that a fault line in climate sustainability was breached in 2010 and thrust the global average of temperatures across the planet suddenly upward.”

Assessment
Starting with January, every month of the year 2010 has broken global heat records. So high where the summer temperatures in the southern hemisphere that the harsh winter storms in Europe and North America could not moderate the average temperature rise, see Earthweek. The most recent edition of Time Magazine filed the following report: “The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) confirmed what many might have suspected from their own recent experiences: this past June was the warmest on record. The combined global land and ocean temperature was 1.22 degrees Fahrenheit (0.68 Celsius) above the 20th-century average. According to NOAA’s National Climate Data Center, 2010 is well on its way to becoming the warmest year worldwide since 1880. The earliest date for which global data is available.”

In that blog I began to share some stories about a man who had a chief influence in my spiritual education while visiting this mortal coil. The anecdote and the picture of Osho stimulated a lot of interest, vigorous comment, debate and a few hit-and-run acts of emailed calumny. Many of you seek a clarification about my take on Osho and gurus in general and I feel the time has come to ramp the HogueProphecy narrative up a notch for a few rounds of postings. Let us explore for a bit the higher definition of prophecy beyond being the act of forecasting the future, to prophecy as the message of good news and revelations of eternal truths showered on us by authentic masters. We will still provide each posting of this four-part series with a fix on current events tied to forecasts about and fulfillment of predictions for 2010.

The time has come to define what, in my experience, is an authentic master. What are his or her traits? This is an important thing to share because when one is seeking a teacher suffice it to say one either does not know individual mastery or has discovered he or she cannot go further to know the mystery of existence without some help from those who may have gone before. The path to a master is fraught with danger because we seek them ignorant of the ultimate truth, yet one must trust in that life-and-death urgency of the seeker who at least has come to know that he or she does not know the next step on the journey and needs help.

In my experience, this trust as inner truth compass is not to be confused with faith. They are categorically different. Faith is something borrowed from outside. It is preached to you and you then choose to throw your trust like gambling chips in a “bet” that the priest, guru, or preacher seeking your following may be sincerely borrowing second-hand knowledge of the direct experience of masters who never seek your following. You surrender your spiritual path to an outside idea, a faith, a dogma that takes you away from what I mean by trust.

Real trust is not something from the outside. It comes from the deepest wellspring of inner being. It has no dogma. It has no creed but being. It resonates to truth from the outside as guidance, but it does not surrender itself to the ideas or the borrowed faiths of others. Trust remains a miracle of individual spiritual freedom. It can resonate with others but it cannot surrender slavishly. It can intimately love those who help strengthen trust to stand alone in its own truth. It can be in love relationship with another trusting being where the unique and individual presences stand separate like pillars that uphold the temple of trust’s love beyond the personal limits of either pillar. Trust can be a heroic innocence that has the courage to embrace the unknown and live blissfully in the eternally deepening, cosmic intimacy of the unknowable.

What I love about Osho was the wordless knowing that he was and “is” ever there to anoint and facilitate my trust’s innocent flowering. In the next installments of this new series I will share passages from my book Messiahs: Visions and Prophecies for the Second Coming where I define in my own words what I have experienced are stages in the path to trusting a spiritual teacher. Today, I will close part one with a passage from Osho defining the way he taught his truth:

“My approach to your growth is basically to make you independent of me. Any kind of dependency is a slavery, and the spiritual dependence is the worst slavery of all.

“I have been making every effort to make you aware of your individuality, your freedom, your absolute capacity to grown without any help from anybody. Your growth is something intrinsic to your being. It does not come from outside; it is not an imposition; it is an unfolding.

“All meditation techniques that I have given to you are not dependent on me — my presence or absence will not make any difference — they are dependent on you. It is not my presence but your presence that is needed for them to work.

“It is not my being here but your being here, your being in the present, your being alert and aware that is going to help…

“The whole past of man is, in different ways, a history of exploitation. And even the so-called spiritual people could not resist the temptation to exploit. Out of a hundred Masters, ninety-nine were trying to impose the idea that, ‘Without me you cannot grow, no progress is possible. Give me your whole responsibility.’

“But the moment you give your whole responsibility to somebody, unknowingly you are also giving your whole freedom…

“As far as I am concerned, I am simply making every effort to make you free from everybody — including me — and to just be alone on the path of searching.

“This Existence respects a person who dares to be alone in the seeking of truth. Slaves are not respected by Existence at all. They do not deserve any respect; they don’t respect themselves, how can they expect Existence to be respectful towards them?

“So remember, when I am gone, you are not going to lose anything. Perhaps you may gain something of which you are absolutely unaware.

“Right now I am available to you only embodied, imprisoned in a certain shape and form. When I am gone, where can I go? I will be here in the winds, in the ocean; and if you have loved me, if you have trusted me, you will feel me in a thousand and one ways. In your silent moments you will suddenly feel my presence.

“Once I am unembodied, my consciousness is universal. Right now you have to come to me. Then, you will not need to seek and search for me. Wherever you are…your thirst, your love…and you will find me in your heart, in your very heartbeat.”

Predictions for 2010 Fulfilled and Oncoming…

When unemployment checks are no longer being cut and delivered:

“Oh, but recovery is at hand, says the corporate editors of your television media, even though General Motors and Chrysler will sag and need more bailouts, or that another hundred banks will close, or despite the deadline for final payout of unemployment checks for millions will enjoy a few last minute federal extensions until after the mid-term elections.”

This Thursday (22 July 2010), 37 weeks and four days after I documented the above prediction, CBS News reported that President Barack Obama signed into law a restoration of benefits for people who have been out of work for six months or more after Congress approved the measure earlier that same day. A stroke of Obama’s pen ended six weeks of unemployment benefits running out on 5 million people in the program. The extension of payments will last until the end of November. The mid-term elections happen on 2 November.

Natural disasters not seen in living memory

Chicago was hit with a Monsoon downpour of 8 to 12 inches overnight, flooding large areas of the city on an a level of violent rainfall that the media is beginning to call the 100-year Chicago flood. It was caused by the subtropical jet stream shifting hundreds of miles north this spring and summer visiting upon Chicago and the northern plains and Great Lake states the kind of tornado and severe thunderstorm weather one might expect along the Gulf of Mexico. Climate watchers have been reporting earlier this year on Earthweek that a globally warming climate has seen the tropics expand north and south of the Tropics of Cancer and Capricorn bringing subtropical climates as much as 600 miles into what were once northern and southern hemispheric temperate zones. To call what happened today in Chicago a monsoon flood event is more than metaphorical. It is a fact that Chicagoans will have to live with every summer in the coming decades as Mother Nature goes to war with our bad habits that abuse her world. The Chicago monsoon flood today reminds me of what the oracle warned and recorded on 1 November 2009:

“The enemy is our unconsciousness as a species, our willingness to believe rather than know our collective soul, our willful postponement and outright resistance to awakening our responsibility to be gardeners—not rapacious parasites—of this Earth. And, if Mother Earth must, she will scourge us, starting in 2010 through 2011 with a spike in climate change disasters never before seen, bringing to a close this most ominous 00 (uh-oh!) decade of the new millennium. The potential death and destruction of this oncoming war of Earth on us will render every land and ocean a battlefield. Militant Mother Nature on the warpath will deliver more epic horrors and losses than endured in the last global World War and all 3,000 wars in 5,000 years of recorded civilization.”

Perhaps it is time to wipe the dust from that old family bible & see what God has in mind for the future of mankind since we have made such a mess of this world; and we have. John the revelator says he was ‘in spirit’ when he was shown a vision of man’s future while exiled on Patmos. Revelation 21 shows a whole new world that God will create at some future moment. I find that as something to look forward to.

The feeling or deep desire for a new start runs in many religious traditions. It is a prophetic will to power a house clean.

Roman Emperor Domitian exiled St. John the little Aegean Island of Patmos in A.D. 95. Holed up in his cave, John composed the most famous prophetic housecleaning (house-rub-outing) of the Earth. A fundamental question must be asked. What was St. John’s state of sanity when he wrote the Book of Revelation?

The last time someone tried to give John of Patmos a thorough psychological examination was in Apocalypse and the writings on Revelation by D. H. Lawrence. He penned this small book just before he died in Provence, France, of tuberculosis at the age of 44. I too share Lawrence’s view that much of John of Patmos’ macabre vision is coming from his suppressed frustrations at being exiled by Rome. I would add that his all-time end-time grump set to parchment arose from a scarred mind of someone with post-traumatic disorder. Who really knows? Maybe he was a survivor of the Roman sack and slaughter of Jerusalem in 69 C.E.

The message passed through a broken medium. The Hebrew Prophet Daniel’s end-time revelation in the Nevi’im is the language of a mystic. John’s second-rate and hyperbolic rehash of Daniel is written in the language of an angry mad man. Daniel’s book is psychic. John’s is Psychotic. Also, there are fundamental points in his narrative that clearly show he intended his prophecy for his own immediate future and not for our times. (See 666). So, if what I’m saying is true, then to summon up desire of God or anybody else to end this world is a mistake. It’s lust for ending life from one who gave up on the world.

It is an anti-life religious disorder overtaking its victims in two phases. I first described them in detail as Prophaganda (a desire to foresee the end of a world one does not understand or hates) followed by Armageddonomics (the economics of doom). Prophaganda is the hypnotic suggestion the mafia of priests and reverends use to condition believers to abuse and make the destruction of the world happen as a self-fulfilling prophecy. The usual habit is to put all that is wrong about the mess of the world on man not following God’s will. I think the future will see it differently. The blame is on God making a stupid world construct.

Why create duality?

Why create sin?

God is ultimately responsible for sin. He will have to punish us shirking our responsibilities but not punish Himself when he is the father of response-ability. He’s the creator. Thus, he has created all and everything, right? Before there was the word and God created heaven and earth, before all of that, was there any good or evil? Did God not also create these when he created the context of duality?

Back in 1980, before I left America to see India and meet Osho for the first time, I used to work at a head and occult supply shop in Ports of Call, San Pedro, California. The owner of the establishment, in my opinion, pandered to the cliché sensationalism of the occult by calling the establishment “The Prophet.” No picture of Kahil Gibran but a sign at the bottom of the stairway leading into the second floor shop with a stereotypical image of a black cat and a cauldron. If ever there was a rancid meat mirage to attract flies of evangelical attention, this sign did the trick. They came up our stairs daily to save us. The owner didn’t have to deal with them daily, but her employers did.

"For Madmen Only: Price of Admission, Your Mind" was my first read of Osho's one-on-one counseling of devotees. Pay with your mind sounds like brainwashing? I hope so. Since I read this book back in 1980 I've been trying to wash my brain each moment of all the identity, conditioning and crap society has put there with Osho's meditations. It's good to be clean.

For today’s blog, I recall two finely dressed male saviors who begged to remind me that Satan created sin in the world. I thought I’d try to test their theology with a question inspired by something I’d just read in For Madmen Only, my first book of Osho’s spiritually iconoclastic writings.

I said, “OK, I get it, Satan created sin but who created Satan?”

That question took them aback and one replied after thinking it over, saying, “God created Lucifer the angel who then decided to become ‘Satan.’ That was his free choice given by God to be evil rather than devote himself to God’s good.”

“Good,” I said. “Quite right. But who is responsible for creating Lucifer? Had Lucifer not been created, had God not given Lucifer the power to go astray… Golly, if God hadn’t even created the notion of ‘going astray’, would we have ‘Satan’ this evangel of ‘sin’?”

The evangelical duo went silent. Neither could give me an answer.

I pressed my point, “The source of evil was Satan, who was Lucifer, who was created by God. Thus, God is ultimately responsible for evil, is he not?”

One of the two faith-fettered fellows to his credit saw the logic and had to say yes. They departed quickly from The Prophet with a desire to tell further biblical “tales” tucked between their legs.

Thus if God is the creator of all, therefore even evil is his responsibility. He need not give people a choice to do good or evil. He could have just created a universe of bliss and peace.

Why did God create disharmony? The Bible in all its evolutions lead to the psychotic prophecies of St. John as its penultimate accomplishment. Even Steven King couldn’t “right” a more vengeful and censuring horror story about the ultimate criminal punishing his creations. Upon reflecting on St. John’s final psychotic book punctuating as last word the “good news” of the Bible, there’s only one revelation worth keeping. God couldn’t have channeled the bible. Men channeled it.

What they call “god” is just the message of their subconscious minds, trying to understand the miraculous mystery of divine existence. Men personified this mystery. They made God their ultimate imaginary friend, like children do. He’s bigger than life, just like a child’s immoderate worship of a hero. God judges his world, breaking his toys and creations just like a child having a temper tantrum.

It’s a new era. Time to stop being childish.

That is why Nietzsche was right to provoke the mindset of people by saying, “God is dead!”

Do you know the whole statement of Nietzsche? Here it is:

“God is dead. God remains dead. And we have killed him. How shall we, murderers of all murderers, console ourselves? That which was the holiest and mightiest of all that the world has yet possessed has bled to death under our knives. Who will wipe this blood off us? With what water could we purify ourselves? What festivals of atonement, what sacred games shall we need to invent? Is not the greatness of this deed too great for us? Must we not ourselves become gods simply to be worthy of it? There has never been a greater deed; and whosoever shall be born after us — for the sake of this deed he shall be part of a higher history than all history hitherto.” (The Gay Science)

Humanity now is free of imaginary friends. Now we can be godliness itself, sharing divine freedom and the compassionate response-ability that goes on with divine freedom from our imaginary friends. That is our golden future. We are destined to recreate a “new heaven” of inner enlightenment and a “new earth” restored to ecological harmony.

Predictions for 2010

–Plus further predictions for the US Mid-Term Elections–

I documented the prediction (below) on 1 November 2009. It comes from the Chapter Finding your Groove of Greatness. Barack Obama does have the potential as well as the karma to be another Abraham Lincoln. Many of you might not believe it. Like Lincoln, he is making generally a mess of his first few years in office. Lincoln chose the wrong generals. Obama chooses the wrong economic advisors. Still there is progress, albeit a year late. Obama has advanced his Health Care Reform as I predicted he would, despite great resistance in the Congress. The reform is a work in progress. Congress has passed Obama’s Bank and Wall Street Reform. Like Health Care, these economic reforms will take many years of struggle and regeneration to mature. When I wrote the following, Obama was still enjoying an extended honeymoon with the American People. Here is its future foretold followed by today’s assessment:

“The honeymoon of change arriving without the luggage is over by the end of 2009. This perpetual arrival era of Obama’s presidency also ends. The promise of change must ripen into real change starting in 2010 and though Obama has not a civil war to fight [like Lincoln], he has to drag the status quo over the water, and end this tug of war match with real reform destroying the systemically dysfunctional culture of our body politic and body economic. The defeats in battles of bear market runs in Wall Street are waiting, but like Lincoln, Obama must revive the battle hymn of anti-trust laws, and responsible regulation and redouble the attack once more. Mine eyes have seen the monopolies destroying all the jobs. He must fight his battles not pitting blue against gray but a moderately liberal blue opposed to a new and radical red posing as conservative philosophy.”

Assessment
Rumblings of a Euro crisis over Greece overshadow Europe. A Tory led coalition in Britain leads a movement across the Euro-zone promoting austerity measures to bring down national debts. This is in direct conflict with Obama’s philosophy of spend now to stimulate economic growth, then pay down the debt later. Obama’s forward economic progress to recovery has hit an oil slick disaster in the Gulf of Mexico that may later goo up the newest economic bubble. Unemployment check payments are running out for millions. The Gulf’s fishing and tourist industries take a slick slamming. Obama’s mistake (as I foresee it) of a six-month deep drill moratorium slams the last Gulf industry standing. Millions more across a five state region are losing their jobs. A bear market and a new recession loom after the autumn leaves have fallen in 2010.

Sarah Palin goes Grizzly Adams Bear market on the President. She plays Obama’s change game with her own “yes we Ameri-can-ism” charismatic attacks on his administration. Palin is full of hyperbole and fury yet makes that fatal GOP mistake in the mid-terms pontificating that real solutions to our economic problems with a litany of Bushism dogma, such as cutting taxes stimulates growth.

“Where have these people been in the eight years of Sarah Palin’s G.W. Bush-whacking?” say the liberals.

A great leap backwards will not win the Republicans the House and the Senate in November. Beyond the potential pitchforking of incumbents and the potential for tearing the Washington establishment all down at the ballot, the mid-term elections can be a battle of progressively conservative versus progressively liberal ideas.

An extreme right-wing red colors much of the core Tea Party movement, even though many who flock to its mostly incoherent cause are members of what I’ve called in previous books and blogs the “Invisible Majority” of American voters grown disenchanted and feeling politically disenfranchised by the Democrat-Republican duopoly running the Federal and State governments.

These independent voters are not generally extremists but they are politically homeless. As the majority of Americans are a bit right of center in their politics it is understandable that many try out the Tea Party scene, or that they might chose to vote in Tea Party candidates as a kind of protest vote.

If I have read my oracle right the aggregate swing of votes will do more to dilute the Republican Brand than throw the Democrat bums out of House of Reps. and Washington DC homes. Successful primary Tea Party candidates like Rand Paul running for the US Senate seat in Kentucky bumped a mainstream Republican hopeful for the chance. However, like many a Tea Party candidate, his extreme views might alienate the moderate mainstream voters in November.

The Democrats may read the signs better than the Republicans this fall, and gain back momentum. Obama “has” revived a battle hymn of banking and Wall Street reform in 2010 that was missing in 2009. Talk of dismantling banking monopolies to shrink “banks too big to fail” into smaller banks is finding Obama’s political push now. He has also had to listen and learn from blue dog democrats what they demand in legislation to pass Health Care in March without a radicalizing Republican Caucus in Congress. Read more…

Vincent Bridges and Jay Weidner see this as the Two Towers of the World Trade Center, destroyed by terrorists in 2001. I do not see two towers, do you? Maybe it is just a castle keep on fire.

We return again to Sarah’s letter: The moment when a lifetime desire to heal and save this planet collided with the television media’s generally sensational and fear-mongering presentation of our future options. In the middle of that nightmare, I often appear for my all-too-clipped winged and out-of-context video and sound bytes.

Why do I let myself be twisted to serve another misunderstanding person’s TV nightmare script? That is what Sarah’s visceral reaction begs me to answer in her letter, when History Channel’s two-hour documentary Nostradamus 2012 left her frightened for her child’s future:

SARAH
Today I watched the show you were in on the History Channel. In front of me, sat my daughter carefully examining her blocks.

I felt overwhelmed with sadness/panic/fear — despair. The show tried to end leaving me feeling hopeful, but I felt…. I can’t put it into words. But hopeful is NOT the word.

HOGUE
Every time I am invited to do a documentary I advise the producers and directors what not to repeat in previous shows, because I have been in just about every one made since the world got interested in prophecy in the late 1980s as the new millennium approached.

I tell them what you want to see. Not just a frightening litany of the dark possibilities of the future but also the light and wonderful alternatives.

I have given my readers those alternatives in 16 books and counting since 1987.

In Millennium Book of Prophecy, I present 777 predictions from over 100 seers throughout history. The first half of the book listed their collective visions of doomsday. The second contradicted the first offering up prophecies of “bloomsday” for the human race. In that vision there is Homo Novus (the New Man). He and she will bring a golden age to this world after understanding surmounts the travails of this century.

You are those new human beings in seed. A seed needs the right soil, air and water — the right loving teaching and teachers. In books like Messiahs, I presented visions of that new humanity and how we will grow the seed of their potential right here and right now. They will be born among us — they “are” us. We seeds of divine potential need only the right nourishment for that love and consciousness to bloom.

It is a pity this topic has not reached your eyes and ears on television. You can find it covered in my works if you but look for them beyond the boob tube. Get out of the television’s face and look beyond the “instant-hogue-caffeinated” spots dotting the TV documentaries.

My brother is ALWAYS going on about these types of things. He often uses words like “they” or “we” But I don’t know who “they” or “we” are. I think he means the government, and the people. The government isn’t doing anything, and the people just keep messing things up, or vice versa.

In all honesty, the earthquakes lately have me very freaked out. So, after seeing the show, I searched for Nostradamus and Haiti and found this blog. I read through it to this page.

You keep telling of these terrible things to come.

Watching Nostradamus: 2012 left you terrified for the future. That means on some level you bought without question what guests like Vincent Bridges, Lawrence Joseph, John Petersen and Jay Weidner, said about the Mayan Calendar ending in 2012 as the real doomsday “end of days.” I would add that many of you were equally put off by most of the same experts enthusing that the winter solstice in 2012, lining up the earth, sun and center of the galaxy causing a Pollyanna, pie-in-the-sky-zapping shift in human collective higher consciousness is another New Age nut theory. I am currently working on an eBook on 2012 prophecies that will enlarge my critique of these theorists in detail along with providing actual prophecies that enlarge the time and scope far beyond the rather hysterical fixation on one year (2012) in a century of years coming, filled with upheaval and transformation of the planet and the human race.

According to Bridges and Weidner, Nostradamus predicts everything they can imagine. He even predicted doom or bloomsday in 2012 too.

Did you see them actually quote a passage from Nostradamus with 2012 written in it?

He was famous for setting down dates spanning his time in 1555 to 1999 and beyond — all the way to the year 3797 AD.

Why not write down “2012″ — this “most important” of dates.

All my direct statements about the 2012-Nostradamus connection and the Lost Book of Nostradamus were left out of the final cut.

I am sure the footage is archived. Hours of it. If History Channel would allow the production company it hired to re-edit the show with my contrary points restored it would bring balance to the documentary. You would have seen me on camera make, albeit a little less bluntly, the following points:

What is the Nostradamus-2012 connection? Absolutely no direct connection is there.

In over 30 years of studying Nostradamus’ writings, I have never seen anything set down about 2012 in his writings. Furthermore, the current fixation on 2012 and the Mayan Calendar are blown out of prophetic proportion. It is one prophecy age cycle in a crowd rebooting in the next several decades.

The Lost Book of Nostradamus?

It is a bogus book. Nostradamus could not draw.

It is a fraud from the 17th century, relying heavily on symbolic Cathar paintings badly re-rendered from illustrations composed centuries before Nostradamus lived. In a more balanced version of the show you could have heard and seen me cast doubt and even dismantle all the projections Vincent Bridges and Jay Weidner spewed onto these spurious watercolor paintings in the book.

In my opinion, Bridges, Weidner and many others in the show, except for Rabbi Ariel bar Tzadok and Gregg Braden, got caught up in their imaginations playing a cloud gazing game. You see a giraffe or an elephant in a cloud. I see a dolphin. And so on. My experience says there is nothing in these altogether vague paintings that is prophecy concerning 2012. In other words, you can find 2012, or any other pet prophecy projection in these symbols. The images work like flypaper. Flypaper for the projecting mind.

Sarah, I told them on camera that Nostradamus does not record the end of the world for nearly another 1,800 years. It was left out.

If the documentary really wanted to tie Nostradamus with end-of-days prophecy, the title should be Nostradamus: 3797 AD

I encourage History Channel to reissue a new version of Nostradamus: 2012. Let people see both sides of the 2012 controversy. The TV audience around the world is hungry for such a thing. It would be a huge success.

PS—NATURAL DISASTERS KEEP ACCELERATING. My month ending blog on this subject will be rather long and detailed. Major earthquakes continue leveling towns flat like happened in Haiti. This time a 6.9 magnitude slamming the eastern-central region of the Himalayas this week. Pollen has become a new kind of smog in the American Southeast; fulfilling scientific predictions that global warming would visit upon us more powerful allergy seasons than ever before. Climatologists report March 2010 was the warmest month in world average temperatures since records of such were first recorded. Finally yet importantly, the volcanic eruption in Iceland has sent ash clouds across European airspace grounding all commercial air flights in England, Scandinavia, Holland, Belgium, France and Austria. This uptick in violent climate and natural disasters this year is a pre-taste of what is coming. You can see these prophecies in Predictions for 2010.

This, I believe, is what happened to St. John’s Book of Revelation. His eschatological rant was meant for his near future — his generation’s fulfillment. The name of the Beast of Revelation hidden in the code number 666 is not some antichrist of the future but for an antichrist that is now 2,000 years back in our past. 666 stands for Neron Kaisar, which is Nero Caesar in Greek. A similar conclusion can be found spelling Nero’s name in Hebrew letters adding to 666. Ever since that time, doomsayer prophets and interpreters have overlooked these facts and used their wild imaginations to project Book of Revelation’s prophecies into their generation. One bit of objective proof to why this is wrong use of prophecies is the fact that Christianity has anticipated over a hundred dates of doom — all of which have been utter prescient failures. It is easier for Christians to assume, as per the direct “prophetgating” of their priests and preachers, that the Lord their God either postponned doomsday or it is still in the future. These believers are programmed as an act of blind faith to reject another possibility: that doomsday is never going to come in the future because it was supposed to come in the times when the ink from St. John’s pen had recently dried on parchment.

The mark of the beast maybe symbolic of a form of coinage used by Roman emperors of the First Century who were popularly condemned by early Christians as the Antichrist. The tribulations of seven seals, plagues and trumpets in the Book of Revelation may encompass St. John’s more elaborate vision of plagues taking down antichrist Imperial Rome and delivering Christians, that is akin to the plagues Moses foretold to tame stubborn Pharaoh and Ancient Egypt, delivering the people of Israel.

Stars falling out of the sky may be just that — stars, nothing more. Locusts may not be helicopters but some phantasm imagined by even a good prophet gone insane. The Beast is not some future president of the European Union but a Roman Emperor like blasphemous Caligula (Beast number 616 in less known surviving editions of the Book of Revelation). He tried to place a statue of Jupiter on sacred ground in the Temple of Herod in Jerusalem. Then there is Emperor Nero (Beast number 666 in other editions), who ordered the suppression that lead to the apocalyptic destruction of Jerusalem in 69 AD, to which man believe this symbolic book of St. John foretold and not something set to happen in our near future.

One reader shares with us an insight all prophecy detectives should remember:

Having been raised in an uneducated family that believed in the literal meaning of the Bible, I can truly appreciate the excellent, recent scholarship that concludes something I have believed for a while. Most of the literal readers miss truly relevant wording such as, this will come to pass while the ‘current’ generation is alive. It also has struck me as odd that they also miss the “channeling” aspect of all this, yet denounce psychics and mediums. It also seems to me that writing down information for people so far in the future makes no sense because there is no guarantee that documents will exist that long.

The human mind, as it is, under the influence of conditioning made to seek the false before the true, will carry the Book of Revelation prophecy from generation to generation as a horrid marvel of retribution of mankind that is always coming, never arriving, for two millennia and counting. To achieve this state of prescient hypnosis one must ignore a repetitive truth drummed by St. John into his readers throughout the prophecy:

How many references to fulfillment in the Book of Revelation make it ubiquitously clear that St. John was talking about his own times, not ours?

Check the references yourself: 1:1, 2:5, 2:16, 3:11, 22:7, 22:12, etc.

Finally, at the end of Revelation we are reminded once again from the angel St. John channels that Jesus is coming post haste:

He who gives this testimony speaks: Yes, I am coming soon!” Amen. Come, Lord Jesus! (Revelation, Chapter 22:20)

Two thousand years later is not “soon.” Nero (666) or Caligula (616) are beasts of the First century. This prophecy may be 20 centuries and counting off the “mark” of the Beast.
