We return again to Sarah’s letter: The moment when a lifetime desire to heal and save this planet collided with the television media’s generally sensational and fear-mongering presentation of our future options. In the middle of that nightmare, I often appear for my all-too-clipped winged and out-of-context video and sound bytes.

Why do I let myself be twisted to serve another misunderstanding person’s TV nightmare script? That is what Sarah’s visceral reaction begs me to answer in her letter, when History Channel’s two-hour documentary Nostradamus 2012 left her frightened for her child’s future:

SARAH
Today I watched the show you were in on the History Channel. In front of me, sat my daughter carefully examining her blocks.

I felt overwhelmed with sadness/panic/fear — despair. The show tried to end leaving me feeling hopeful, but I felt…. I can’t put it into words. But hopeful is NOT the word.

HOGUE
Every time I am invited to do a documentary I advise the producers and directors what not to repeat in previous shows, because I have been in just about every one made since the world got interested in prophecy in the late 1980s as the new millennium approached.

I tell them what you want to see. Not just a frightening litany of the dark possibilities of the future but also the light and wonderful alternatives.

I have given my readers those alternatives in 16 books and counting since 1987.

In Millennium Book of Prophecy, I present 777 predictions from over 100 seers throughout history. The first half of the book listed their collective visions of doomsday. The second contradicted the first offering up prophecies of “bloomsday” for the human race. In that vision there is Homo Novus (the New Man). He and she will bring a golden age to this world after understanding surmounts the travails of this century.

You are those new human beings in seed. A seed needs the right soil, air and water — the right loving teaching and teachers. In books like Messiahs, I presented visions of that new humanity and how we will grow the seed of their potential right here and right now. They will be born among us — they “are” us. We seeds of divine potential need only the right nourishment for that love and consciousness to bloom.

It is a pity this topic has not reached your eyes and ears on television. You can find it covered in my works if you but look for them beyond the boob tube. Get out of the television’s face and look beyond the “instant-hogue-caffeinated” spots dotting the TV documentaries.

Sarah continues, explaining how scary TV fits with her brother’s cynical and baleful view of the future.

My brother is ALWAYS going on about these types of things. He often uses words like “they” or “we” But I don’t know who “they” or “we” are. I think he means the government, and the people. The government isn’t doing anything, and the people just keep messing things up, or vice versa.

In all honesty, the earthquakes lately have me very freaked out. So, after seeing the show, I searched for Nostradamus and Haiti and found this blog. I read through it to this page.

You keep telling of these terrible things to come.

HOGUE
Watching Nostradamus: 2012 left you terrified for the future. That means on some level you bought without question what guests like Vincent Bridges, Lawrence Joseph, John Petersen and Jay Weidner, said about the Mayan Calendar ending in 2012 as the real doomsday “end of days.” I would add that many of you were equally put off by most of the same experts enthusing that the winter solstice in 2012, lining up the earth, sun and center of the galaxy causing a Pollyanna, pie-in-the-sky-zapping shift in human collective higher consciousness is another New Age nut theory. I am currently working on an eBook on 2012 prophecies that will enlarge my critique of these theorists in detail along with providing actual prophecies that enlarge the time and scope far beyond the rather hysterical fixation on one year (2012) in a century of years coming, filled with upheaval and transformation of the planet and the human race.

According to Bridges and Weidner, Nostradamus predicts everything they can imagine. He even predicted doom or bloomsday in 2012 too.

Did you see them actually quote a passage from Nostradamus with 2012 written in it?

He was famous for setting down dates spanning his time in 1555 to 1999 and beyond — all the way to the year 3797 AD.

Why not write down “2012″ — this “most important” of dates.

All my direct statements about the 2012-Nostradamus connection and the Lost Book of Nostradamus were left out of the final cut.

I am sure the footage is archived. Hours of it. If History Channel would allow the production company it hired to re-edit the show with my contrary points restored it would bring balance to the documentary. You would have seen me on camera make, albeit a little less bluntly, the following points:

What is the Nostradamus-2012 connection? Absolutely no direct connection is there.

In over 30 years of studying Nostradamus’ writings, I have never seen anything set down about 2012 in his writings. Furthermore, the current fixation on 2012 and the Mayan Calendar are blown out of prophetic proportion. It is one prophecy age cycle in a crowd rebooting in the next several decades.

The Lost Book of Nostradamus?

It is a bogus book. Nostradamus could not draw.

It is a fraud from the 17th century, relying heavily on symbolic Cathar paintings badly re-rendered from illustrations composed centuries before Nostradamus lived. In a more balanced version of the show you could have heard and seen me cast doubt and even dismantle all the projections Vincent Bridges and Jay Weidner spewed onto these spurious watercolor paintings in the book.

In my opinion, Bridges, Weidner and many others in the show, except for Rabbi Ariel bar Tzadok and Gregg Braden, got caught up in their imaginations playing a cloud gazing game. You see a giraffe or an elephant in a cloud. I see a dolphin. And so on. My experience says there is nothing in these altogether vague paintings that is prophecy concerning 2012. In other words, you can find 2012, or any other pet prophecy projection in these symbols. The images work like flypaper. Flypaper for the projecting mind.

Sarah, I told them on camera that Nostradamus does not record the end of the world for nearly another 1,800 years. It was left out.

If the documentary really wanted to tie Nostradamus with end-of-days prophecy, the title should be Nostradamus: 3797 AD

I encourage History Channel to reissue a new version of Nostradamus: 2012. Let people see both sides of the 2012 controversy. The TV audience around the world is hungry for such a thing. It would be a huge success.

PS—NATURAL DISASTERS KEEP ACCELERATING. My month ending blog on this subject will be rather long and detailed. Major earthquakes continue leveling towns flat like happened in Haiti. This time a 6.9 magnitude slamming the eastern-central region of the Himalayas this week. Pollen has become a new kind of smog in the American Southeast; fulfilling scientific predictions that global warming would visit upon us more powerful allergy seasons than ever before. Climatologists report March 2010 was the warmest month in world average temperatures since records of such were first recorded. Finally yet importantly, the volcanic eruption in Iceland has sent ash clouds across European airspace grounding all commercial air flights in England, Scandinavia, Holland, Belgium, France and Austria. This uptick in violent climate and natural disasters this year is a pre-taste of what is coming. You can see these prophecies in Predictions for 2010.

This is the 389th anniversary of a mythology-myth-holiday when those mistaken as “Indians” (Native Americans) shared food with English Pilgrim settlers before the latter wiped them out in the ensuing years. (See Real Thanksgiving Turkey.)

Give or take where you were on either side of the International Dateline, the 26-27 of November marked the passing of American mystic and teacher, Adi Da. (See Adi Da.)

On this Thanksgiving Day, I want to share a sense of gratefulness better understood by a more enlightened human race coming in the future.

I thank a reader named “Julie” for inspiring the following unorthodox take on Thanksgiving future-framed.

She asked a question about globalism that inspired an unexpected answer about right selfishness. This concept may not be understood today, but right selfishness is a virtue people of a new humanity will value once the aberrant era of human-kid becomes matured human-kind.

I could say the kiddy stuff will end in a few hundred years. A new and mature humanity at that time will not live in the past, or be too interested in time beyond its mere utilitarian usefulness for clocks and time-space folding the galactic.

Homo Novus will be free of time-mind-egoic constraints. If such a timeless people are to be born, then how can there be a gulf of time of hundreds of years? How can there be a separation of time at all? If they are born, they are already living here and now. You are here right now. The new humanity is born from becoming your rightful self.

Julie asked me the following question that inspired my oracle soar from its peripheral concerns into a completely different theme. A right world can only be born from a state of right self.

JULIE:
Do you think this financial crisis is all engineered by the worldly powers-that-be to deplete the world’s economy and therefore bring in the new ‘one world’ currency in to control us even more until we all hit the brick wall?

HOGUE:
One world currency is coming in the next 36 years, as is a one-world government. Whether these will be good or evil depends on the consciousness of humanity rising, first one individual at a time, then individuals gathering in their aloneness together to forge a government where the blissfulness and intelligence of their inner being is reflected by their outer world. If enough individuals transform their consciousness, irregardless of what others are doing or not doing to transform their own consciousness, then, a shift in the destiny of this earth will incline towards a more life affirming future world society.

Civilization’s hoped for new direction is not as important as your individual transformation this present moment. Remember, Gautama Siddartha did not change his society, but his full self-remembering of his birthright — the birthright of all people actually to be a Buddha, (an Awakened One) — changed his society. He brought more meditation into it. It was not his aim to change anything or anyone. Indeed his work on himself was the ultimate act of selfishness. He abandoned kingdom, family and responsibilities on a half-dozen year quest to know that which is a truth beyond the transient mortal life.

He found “IT”. It shined out of him — a catalyst to remind others of their lost legacy of light. He did not seek ten thousand disciples. They sought him. He did not desire this army of followers. He did not seek to help his planet or his culture, but all were helped in the wake of his ultimate quest for “right” selfishness.

If I do not know who I am in my innermost being, then how can there be any abiding good arising in my actions? The world is mostly full of good people. Why then is it a world of misery and madness with a few glimmers of love and joy? It seems that it is not enough to be virtuous and good. I suppose a good sleepwalker will fall in a ditch as much as an evil one.

Perhaps if one truly flowers into the full spectrum of divine revelation it makes all actions, right actions. That is why it is more imperative now than in Buddha’s time to find one’s inner being, unbury it from the garbage of borrowed thoughts and identities of our particular societal conditioning and arise in our own light. That is what all enlightened ones and many devotees attracted to their light did. Only this kind of selfishness finds the state of self-lessness.

The prophecies for a new Humanity coming, sees each of us taking that jump within, if we but do it. Now. Every “now.”

MY ANSWER:

It is about what is “core” in us. Osho coined the term “Noah’s Ark of Consciousness” back in the early 1980s. Way back then he accurately foresaw the crisis filled times we are in. He saw these things happening sooner than they have. He thought we’d be in the middle of ecological crisis, melting glaciers, heating up climate and many wars, some of them ending in nuclear explosions in what he called the “Nightmarish Nineties.”

Sometimes our free will in the present can modify and delay a collectively predictable momentum of destiny. So dating an event can be off by a decade or more.

Back in 1999, for the book Messiahs: the Vision and Prophecies for the Second Coming, I explained Osho’s concept of a new Ark:

“One of the renegade mystics, Osho, believes the next Noah’s ark needed to save humanity is a ‘Noah’s Ark of Consciousness.’ It is not a UFO mother ship of nebulous construction built for one to wait out the seven years of tribulation behind a comet’s tail. It isn’t a cave city for survivalists. It is a hideaway so secret that you’d never guess how close it nudges against where you live even at this moment. It hides right behind the source of your existence.

“This safe haven is a place that spiritual survivalists retreat to.

“It is the ark of consciousness within each of us.

“The pathway to this ark can be found by remaining silent and centered exactly in the middle of the cyclone of coming times.”

The next writer, “Michelle,” was the first to make me aware that Adi Da had left his body. Many of you ask what the prophetic significance of this is. Adi Da is the last physically living member of a special group of rebellious spiritual prophets who I call sages of Homo Novus — the chief prophets sharing a collective vision of the advent of a New Man, a new Humanity, born out of the travails of this century, in which we have just entered. They were G. I. Gurdfjieff (1866?-1949), J. Krishnamurti (1895-1986), Osho (1931-1990) and finally Adi Da Samraj (1939-2008). This New Humanity is not some ectoplasmic gaggle of Walk-in, or blissful invasion of Indigo child changelings among us. This new humanity is our humanity, inside each of us. In seed form. Suppressed under the tyranny of societal imposed conditioning from birth onwards that I define in MABUS as “The Antichrist Unconscious.”

I wanted to share Michelle’s letter with you all. She is a devotee of Adi Da and her words eloquently frame what many Adi Da lovers are going through. In the mystic East, the Master-Disciple relationship is regarded as the highest form of human love. Her words reflect this love well, at the parting of this highest of loves from the mortal coil, coming as they do from meditation’s silent center of the cyclone of gathering forces of unconsciousness that might suppress again that light:

“I read your blog, yesterday, entitled, Nostradamus and Gurus Leaving the Body. Thank you, and I need to update and note to you about my Guru, Adi Da Samraj’s Mahasamadhi. It has been determined by devotees living in Naitauba that He died of natural causes, so actually, heart attack was not what happened there, although it may have seemed like it had indeed occurred, and initially was presumed as such, by devotees. But it had not.

“Also, in regard to which direction Adi Da was buried/facing, at death, it was West. He was facing West. And, of course, too, He was born in the West.

“Very, very interesting writings and possibilities abound, indeed, as to the many threads and connections between Osho and the current crisis in Mumbai and of India/Pakistan relations, at the moment.

“I was also reflecting over what you write of Osho’s passing and Mahasamadhi, in 1990 and of the immense importance of unity for, and of, the earth and all life. There has been so much seeding and harvesting of hatreds and deceit and corruption. But now all of that hatred seems to be inviting itself to the world table, so to speak, and what will we all do about that?

“It occurred to me, that, it comes down to what we are ready and willing to grow and harvest, in ourselves: A new global understanding and energy, or else a continued battle for utopia, resources, and grabbing and getting back at systems, policies, and resources that don’t seem to support the world and its people.

“And then I thought about what you mentioned, about immortality — and I couldn’t help but consider the potential new world of the future, where, if this world remained united, for real, and grew its strength from that unity — spiritual and otherwise, that perhaps, in a newer sense, this new energy of the future would one day keep the world’s resources in place, given the intense energy and spiritual sacrifice and sadhana required to maintain it.

“Perhaps then, humankind would not require oil or coal or electricity to survive, but ingenuity, healing, spiritual insight, and just pure energy — pure love. Maybe this will be the energy wave and need and food, then, of the future:
Pure Love.”

Rather than a messiah, we await the coming of Homo Novus, the “new human being.” Osho, one of the new humanity’s chief proponents, defined them in the following way:

“The new humanity will be a meeting of individuals, where individuals are the masters, and society is to serve them. It will have many different aspects to it. It will not have so many religions, it will have only a religious consciousness. It will not have a despot God as a creator, because that implies the slavery of man. It will have godliness as a quality of ultimate achievement — a quality of enlightenment. God will be spread all over — in everything, in every being.

“The individual, for the first time, will not be programmed; he will be helped to be himself. He will not be given any ideals, any discipline, any certain pattern; he will be given only a tremendous love for freedom, so that he can sacrifice everything — even his own life — but he cannot sacrifice freedom. The new individual will not be repressive; he will be natural, with no inhibitions, expressive of everything that he has; just the way plants express themselves in different colors, in different fragrances, each individual will be the same.

“The new individual will not have the false idea that all human beings are equal. They are not — they are unique, which is a far superior concept than equality. Although the new individuals will not be equal, they will have equal opportunity to grow into their potential, whatever it is.

“There will be no marriage; love will be the only law. Children will be part of the commune, and only the commune will decide who is capable of being a mother and who is capable of being a father. It cannot be random and accidental. And it will be according to the needs of the Earth.

“The new humanity will have an ecology in which nature is not to be conquered, but lived and loved. We are part of it — how can we conquer it? It will not have races, no distinctions between nations, between colors, casts. It will not have any nations, and states; it will have only a functional world government.

“The new man is an absolute necessity. The old is dead or is dying … cannot survive long. And if we cannot produce a new human being, then humanity will disappear from the Earth.”

I will end the first hour’s talk by posing that such a humanity is not “coming” in the future — that future can only be born today. This will not be an ordinary meeting. I intend to move from words about a future humanity to offer the audience a sample of active and passive meditation experiences that might help them witness the birth of that new humanity in themselves.

We are in a new and challenging era. According to my understanding of prophecy, human civilization must change or it is foreseen to collapse in the next 20 to 30 years. With the dawning of a new and dangerous millennium, the time for talk about a better future is over. I believe we have to create that future together, and right now. A better future and a new humanity can only come from individual transformation.
