On 7 July 2010, I posted the following about Barack Obama’s oncoming crisis of leadership that would result in a mid-term election referendum undermining trust in government itself in the United States. A Mandate of Anger would decapitate US credibility as a leader of the world for the next two years.

My oracle’s message was inspired by astrological prophecy. History is under the influence of a powerful aspect of the ruler of the new Age of Aquarius, Uranus. This ruler of revolution and/or chaos has worked to undermine Obama’s pretenses as a ruler of change. The following prediction posted in July of last year (see Uranus in Retrograde) was the beginning of what my oracle would later formulate at the end of 2010 as a definition of government in Washington DC in 2011. My oracle’s following message to President Obama was written over a year ago, four months before the midterm elections; yet, is reads like it was written today, as if in retrospect:

Barack Obama, if you go forward without seeing how backward your ideas of change are rapidly becoming to what really needs changing in America then your slogan, “Change we can believe in,” will soon become, “Chaos we can disbelieve in.”

Uranus rules chaos and disorder as well as change and revolution. Uranus in retrograde while Saturn is exalted in Libra (read: balanced and more conservative reality checks) means ill-conceived, advancing Fool over-the-brink liberal progress, leads to political chaos for those in power in Washington.

The American people will feel leaderless and unheard by those left or right leaning ideologues living inside the Washington, lobbyist-rich elitist loving, political bubble. A future that was almost lost is coming closer. It gathers in the momentum of national frustration and rising anger of the American people against their president, state governors and federal legislators. If the disconnection deepens it may lead to anger as a national referendum of disdain against the governing system.

Or worse…

In this alternative future, the Americans will shout something loud and destructive on 2 November with ballots flying. They may not intend it, but a vote to throw most incumbents out – the good, the bad and the ugly with the baby and the bathwater – could happen.

The angry American voter under incautious Uranus-in-retrograde chaos may fill the Gubernatorial seats of state capitals and Congress with a mob of demagogues pronouncing change as a force of political hysteria without leadership, focus or coherency. The new legislators will, to paraphrase Elrond [of Tolkien’s Lord of the Rings], govern the country for the next two years in a Congress that is “scatterbrained, divided, leaderless.”

Americans might send the politically infantile and extremely eccentric to flush out the old wood. Yes, it would be a change. Chaos is change.

Americans could see an even more dysfunctional government as a result for the next 2 years – one that represents the state of the voting public: pissed off, grasping for straw votes, reaching out to swipe somebody without coherency or plan. Not conservatism or liberalism but a Uranian retrograde nasty surprise: tear-it-all-down-ism.

The oracle in forecasts for 2011, published 21 December 2010, had this to say about what actually was and is the 112^th Congress we have had to endure for a half-year and counting:

This is the future before us: the 112th Congress convenes its first session on 3 January of 2011 with houses divided: the Republicans grabbing 67 seats and a large majority in the House. The Democrats by retaining a slim 53-seat majority – including two left-leaning independents – in the Senate.

What we have coming is gridlock. President and Democrat Senators can’t advance liberal agendas without a sixty-seat majority. House Republicans won’t completely dismantle Obama’s Health Care legislation due to the fact they don’t have the Senate. They’ll put on a good demonstration because killing “Obamacare” was a major Tea Party campaign pledge. The Republican-Tea Party coalition in the House can and will hobble those progressive-socialist parts of the plan the medical insurance lobbies couldn’t get cut by withholding Health Care financing.

What happens when an angry mass of people feel like their lives are stuck in neutral by perceived symbols of power oppression. If they aren’t heard, if they aren’t able to move forward, they can riot.

Prepare for a political riot on the beltway in the chambers of Congress.

… Firebrands thrown into the halls of Congress or at the façade of the White House are not what I’m talking about for 2011. The capital of the United States won’t burn like Watts. (Not yet, at least, although I foresee such things as possible in less than a decade if Americans don’t manage a way off this future timeline.) The violence is far more subtle in 2011. It won’t be targeting brick or building but the ability to govern this country. The breakdown of the political system into polarized partisanship in 2011 of an intensity not yet known in our already polarized body politic will create the climate for real rioting in the streets of America.

The oracle then turned its augured attention on the Tea Party members of the Congress representing an American people in 2011 who will want to make two plus two equal five.

Americans want the Tea Party to reduce federal government spending by the trillions. Equally they expect somebody out there who throws pies in the sky to cook up and drop down trillions of dollars needed to rebuild the infrastructure, achieve energy independence from Middle Eastern terrorized states, wean off oil, and oh! let’s also build 25 nuclear power plants in a decade. We’ll somehow do all this huge investment heavy lifting while paying off the oncoming debt apocalypse without raising taxes. Indeed, math scores in America have fallen far below the top ten educated countries – 25th to be exact.

My oracle observes America and sends this message:

You are like children. You want it all – your cake and eat it too. You want a smaller government but more government aid and stimulus for jobs.

We get the democracy we vote for. An ungovernable people send to Washington an ungovernable government where cuts are expected without impact or consequence. Sort of like what children expect out of life. Like wanting our cake and eating it too, Americans want our deficit spending ways cut but we will not “eat” the consequences too. We want to cut spending but not raise revenues. No country in history has erased a deficit without doing both. Two plus two equals “four” not an idiot’s “high-five” with the math.

Next, my oracle returned to the key astrological events of the first half of 2011 that would see movement and potential progress in a gridlocked government.

Uranus (change) moves at last out of illusory Pisces back into (get to business, take a jump) Aries in mid-March 2011. The collective urge to blaze new trails will be in its first fresh degrees of a new sign. This is when the Republican-Tea Party rebellion will be pushing hardest their agendas in a Wattsington riot mode, yet starting in July and lasting nearly the rest of 2011, riotous political action will be stalled in the aftermath of political “capital” burned down around them.

ASSESSMENT
March was indeed the time when early on in the opening months of the congressional session, platitudes of collegial bi-partisan promises from the Left and the Right of the bench in the Senate and the House of Representatives began butting Donkeycratic and Dumbopublican heads. All of this, as the months of ire and ideological head butting dragged on refereed with extreme ideological prejudice by a “Mad Hatter” from the Tea Party or two at White House meetings with President Obama, leading at one point to the president famously getting up from his chair and leaving the room.

The US Capitol building remains standing but in July, as forecast, after the partisan rioting, the political “capital” of Republican, Tea Party and Democrat credibility for Congress and the President remains “burned down around them” all.

Yet my oracle closed the chapter on Wattsington DC still holding hope for my own desire for bi-partisan progress in the second half of 2011 — though with an ironic coda — when it added:

The American people will pressure the gridlockers to stop shooting ideology at each other and get things done for the people. Their rage spent, the second half of 2011 might enjoy legislators on both sides picking up the pieces, mending political fences, rebuilding bipartisan bridges, putting out the shop fires and replacing the broken windows, as it were, striving to forge common ground legislation.

A majority of Americans aren’t into vandalizing the government. They want it to function, move forward, though my Oracle wonders if rioters can be men and women of reason. It wonders if I am a fool to hope otherwise. How can bipartisanship occur in the second half of 2011 when the malarial campaign fever for 2012 begins its infection?

A majority of Americans want a bi-partisan solution. A special congressional commission was appointed after the debt ceiling in the 11th hour was lifted before the nation defaulted on its debt. The committee of house and senate members is charged with looking at spending cuts and revenue solutions to be presented to the government in late November. Already there is partisan pledges, coming from the Right forcing Republican and Tea Party members to swear against raising taxes before negotiations begin. No doubt Democrat appointed members would swear passive aggressively not to cut spending to entitlements. With such renewed childishness of “my way or the highway” pledges already placed, the second half of 2011 rightfully, it seems, had my oracle back at the end of last year saying I and by extension all Americans can “dream on” about mature progress in Washington.

For this dream to become a reality, it will need the American people to wake up and see that their government is a reflection of their own disconnection with political and financial realities.

Wake up, Americans. Another civil war is approaching with secession of states and far worse, a violent unraveling of American society. There is still time left in this year, and in this decade to turn the course of America’s future away from the civil Balkanization of the country that waits for us just a few years down time’s trail, potentially poised to pounce somewhere around the corner of the next decade.

Friends, I have known first-hand how wild the weather can get in Massachusetts when I was a member of the summer stock Highfield Theater troop in the latter half of the 1970s. As a Southern Californian my meteorological experiences were pretty much limited to sunny days and mild nights in the south end beaches of Los Angeles County, before the climate started getting unstable from 1979 onward, where we only had two seasons a year: smog and fog.

When I flew into Boston in June 1977, I had the first experience of sticky, thickly humid air. I claimed a shared bedroom in the theater commune outside of Falmouth and it was not long before my spare shoes placed under the bed sprouted a grass-like mold. The dry air of Southern Cal ever stuffing my nose to smells was dilated to sample the rich aromas of earth and grass, the funk of New England’s dry rot in white washed buildings on the campus. I experienced for the first time vanilla skies where swam languorously a scarlet sun in humid vapors that hid behind their yellow sheen the prowling, sun eating “sharks” of thunderstorms.

I recall the back yard of the theater. Promising young talent in costume wandered the meadows and woods warming up their voices, reciting their lines as they bestirred fire flies while milky heads of great anvil clouds catching fading light in soft twilight glowered. I heard our director say something no Californian director ever uttered in his final notes before showtime: “…Oh, and one more thing, everybody. We are under a severe thunderstorm watch, so be prepared to stop the show and take cover at a moments notice.”

I have thespian artist friends originally hailing from Massachusetts who moved into my little island village in the Pacific Northwest setting up shop where they sell, among many other fantastic fantasy gear, fairy wings for kids of all ages and you are greeted by a fast talking puppet who likes nacho chips if you’ve got’em. He is rapidly becoming — I predict — the next Pew Wee Herman, albeit rendered in leather.

I am told Nymbol is a boggart with a knack for mischief. In his stage show he inhabits a magical island with phantasmagorical creatures, pirates, and perhaps sometime in the future, an opera singing Nostradamus expert known as the Flying Dutchman, Captain VanderHogue-ing. But I digress…

The other day I met Bill Cass, Nymbol’s alter ego and puppet master, coming out of the local pizzeria in the wake of his ebullient daughters — a couple of bright eyed, and joyous Alices from Wonderland (who I would like to believe are real magical faeries masquerading as humans for now).

In the first pause of a happy, laugh filled meeting, Bill and I started talking about a rare New England tornado outbreak that spawned at least nine twisters reported hitting several towns and cities in western and central Massachusetts on Wednesday afternoon, 1 June 2011. An EF3 tornado plowed through the heart of Springfield, a major metropolitan area. It toppled brick buildings killing four, injuring over 200 and damages cost an estimated $100.

Bill reflected that growing up in New England one always got a little wary of the weather in May and June for their extremely violent thunderstorms. Large hailstone showers that can kill a person nearly claimed his van once. For my part I dodged nearly being skewered by two lightning strikes in my season at Highfield Theater and this Californian from copacetic weather patterns was reminded often that “Here on the East Coast, we have real weather.”

Nevertheless, this tornado outbreak across New England was different. Even severe thunderstorm seasoned Massachusetts people have not seen such a tornado roller coaster run them over in a lifetime.

This is the way of the year 2011, where even the seasoned survivors of heavy weather in the US Midwestern Tornado Alley to New England or those who “weather” earthquakes, like the people of Japan, have been taken to unknown new levels of “terror”-tory.

Watch the You Tube footage of the superquake and tsunami in Japan in March and the response of people used to hard quaking and waves clearly passes beyond what they can emotionally absorb. Then comes April. The tornado-seasoned citizens of St Louis beheld their international airport taken down by a twister. The twister veteran US southerners are run through by two deadly tornado outbreaks bushwhacking Tennessee, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, and the Carolinas, pressing a windy buzz saw to large metro areas such as Birmingham, Tuscaloosa and flattening a dozen little towns like Kira’s Harvest, Alabama. Then, in a year visiting one major catastrophe a month, May’s Mississippi River deluge mounted flood levels not seen in living human memory unless you are in your 90s or 100s. Then came the Missouri tornado outbreak that destroyed Joplin, soon to make the 2011 tornado season the deadliest in 61 years!

Oh, and let us not forget in this year of 2011, the year of “never before seen” natural disasters, the day Springfield was bombed out by an EF3 tornado also marks the official beginning of the 2011 Hurricane Season, of which I have warned in prophecies for 2011. It will be another uptick in climate tipping points not seen in living and ever forgetful human memory since the season of Hurricane Katrina in 2005. The South and Southeastern states of the US are already enduring 2011′s spring-turned-suddenly-dog-day-summer-triple-digit-overheated — the precursor to a powerful hurricane season as ocean temperatures in Gulf of Mexico and the Gulf Stream steam up into the bathwater warm 80s in Fahrenheit waiting to become a watery breakfast of cyclonic champion storms rolling off Africa and the Caribbean.

The storm intensity not before seen paralleling triple-digit heat waves brings to mind the message from my oracle about natural disasters in 2011 that put the chill of dire future in the consequence of human induced global warming:

I wrote on 1 November 2009, “I foresee 2010 as the year things get hot and stay hot in the climate, almost as if this is a temperature tsunami rolling across the Earth from northern to southern hemispheres of season change.

“…It will be reported in 2011 that a fault line in climate sustainability was breached in 2010 and thrust the global average of temperatures across the planet to suddenly lift upward. [This will cause a] climate changing tidal wave of natural disasters, the most serious of which will visit South and East Asia and Southern California.”

… Indeed that trend will continue in 2011. The human race will descend into deeper denial of climate change just when the first signs of catastrophe draw near. I predicted for 2010, that people around the world would talk and write about it as the year of uniquely weird, unpredictable and violent weather never before seen.

They will forget about 2010 when faced with even worse climate violence in 2011. They will simply blink at the new norm.

A sustainable future of this globally interconnected civilization can ill afford short term, “grab and burn what resources you can” policies promoted by government and business leadership. Yet, human misbehavior to the Earth will increase rather than start correcting itself in 2011. This prevailing attitude of “I need a job now, solve climate change later” will see some of you lose your homes to tornadoes, your businesses to hurricane and typhoon, your crops to fire storms. Some of you reading this now will have lost your lives in the year 2011 as a direct result of following along this perpetuation of denial.

Final Chapter: Alarm Bells Sound the Unsustainable

The 2011 Hurricane Season draws near.

World industries increase fossil fuel emissions heating the atmosphere by 5 percent in 2010 and the trend is for more in 2011. Now the corporate mainstream media begins mollycoddling people with a new bromide, rather than cite the global climate emergency, they now indoctrinate the boobs watching the tube that this is “the new normal” just as my oracle had foreseen.

Now we pass the narrative of preposterous weather violence in a pre-apocalyptical year back to Kira’s diary written in the aftermath of the tornado outbreak in Alabama in late April that destroyed her town of Harvest Alabama. You can read part one of her diary by clicking on Tornado Outbreak.

Four days after her last entry, Kira filed this on 9 May 2011:

John, I have one more update for you.

I took the car out yesterday for the first time since the tornadoes and just have to tell you what I saw. You are the only one that will care, I think, because it seems to me that most people are … not interested? Which boggles my mind. I think maybe it’s just that people are still in shock. No one is talking about this anymore really, and after seeing the EF5 damage first hand, I have the feeling that the damage might just be so unfathomable that people CAN’T talk about it.

Anyhow, here is what I saw. Pictures cannot possibly show you what is out there, there’s just too much of it.

I went to a development called “Anderson Hills” that was hit head on. It looks like Godzilla stormed in and took huge chunks out of the houses with a massive claw hand. Or like the houses had been hit with exploding mortars. Half the house will be pristine, and the other half will look like it was just dumped out of the blender… and these are HUGE brick houses. ALL the trees were twisted and snapped. Some houses were stripped down to the studs. It looked like the bricks were just melting off the houses in places. I saw a massive tree overturned… with roots and all… and then realized there was no hole in the ground where it was laying, so the tree must have landed there after being pulled up somewhere else. It seems the wind damage (not only including the tornado but also the straight winds) was about 10 miles across. Just a guess.

The more I type the more I realize that words don’t suffice. We are hit by tornadoes every year. Its normal. But we have never seen anything like this. This was not just a tornado, it was a monster. And, by the way, my sister says a neighbor of hers snapped a photo of the tornado, and it shows three funnels. I have not searched online to see if this has been officially reported, but have heard it again from other neighbors since, as well. Schools in Cullman are just now opening back up, and Redstone Arsenal is also just now opening for military business.

I wonder if people will be going to therapy about these weather changes. In all seriousness, my psyche feels bruised, for lack of a better description. I don’t understand why people are not talking about this on Facebook, especially since a third of the folks on my “friends” list are from here. I wonder if it’s because they don’t want to talk about unpleasant things? Actually, I recently read that the people closest to a disaster won’t talk about it, and will also not believe that it will happen again, and will not prepare for that eventuality. The people just OUTSIDE this disaster zone, though, will take things much more seriously. The further the folks are from the epicenter, the more seriously they will take the warning of another disaster. I think I read that in a science magazine at the doctor’s office.

My neighbor from across the street came over yesterday. She and her husband have already moved to Georgia (months back), and are trying to sell their house. She was still in shock, “bruised”, talking a mile-a-minute about the devastation, and about the fact that her friends house disappeared in the wind.

I had to double check, “Were you here during the tornado?” No, she said, she wasn’t. But she was talking like she was here and had experienced it. My brain is too tired to figure out why she seemed to have lived through what we here did. Interesting, nonetheless. She also said she was very disappointed that many people that she knows here left the area the day after the storm. As if they could not handle living without electricity, TV, showers, stoves. She viewed this disaster as an opportunity to “pull it together”, but that people instead high-tailed it out of here. Again, my brain is too tired to know what I think about this, but it is interesting to hear and remember.

The changes we decided to make after the storm have partially stuck so far. Computer games for the kids are gone. My son seems much happier. I think they made him lonely, even though he loved them. We do not watch TV when the whole family is home anymore (but I must admit I love to watch the Nostradamus stuff and Ghost Adventures from time to time when I am alone).

[My husband] Mark has quit all computer games as well, and has also quit his ritual of going to relax in front of the computer after work. He seems much happier now that he is no longer stuck in this rut. Maybe new behaviors will be born for us because of these shocking events. I will watch to see. And I am glad I can relate these observations to you, because I know you can hear me.

We got through first month of a year I forecast in Predictions for 2011 to be filled with the first klaxon clang of alarm bells of unsustainable policies in economy, ecology, politics and social traditions. In the Southern Hemisphere, the Earth and Sky sends us a message in historic cyclones, monsoon floods crashing into, and inundating Australia. In the North, a string of record-breaking winter blizzards made January the snowiest on record in most cities along the Eastern Seaboard. The largest of these vast weather systems created a gigantic comma cloud that blocked out two thirds of the United States from satellite view, affecting one in three 300-million Americans with flooding rains, two-inch ice storms and 18 to 20 inch snowfalls.

I was recently on Whitley Strieber’s Dreamland show reminding him how the storm patterns of fact began matching satellite images created for the Science Fiction movie The Day After Tomorrow. This movie was based on his and Art Bell’s book The Coming Global Superstorm (1999). Roland Emmerich’s doomsday epic took their concept of a sudden superstorm transforming global warming into a global ice age. In my opinion, their foundation of imagination and research helped Emmerich create his most intelligent action packed super-apocalyptic blockbuster.

Emmerich films work when he forgoes illusions of being a scriptwriter and instead handily directs the excellent and thought-provoking material of others in that role, as was the case in Day After Tomorrow. In 2010 we were all doomed to see him once again conjure the spirit of schlock as his muse — as if he were channeling that greatest of Hollywood kitsch meisters, the late Irwin Allen — to spend a new budget high for a new blockbuster low: that laughable, visually CGI gluttonous end-of-the-world movie, 2012.

Anyway, the satellite image of the largest of eight-and-counting storms slamming the US every week since Christmas compelled me to remind Whitley Strieber on our last show of the apocalyptic blizzard-maker that triggered the new Ice Age in Bell and Strieber’s concept transformed into a Wagnerian Weather Channel shot in Day After Tomorrow.

Does the Ice Age commeth, and soon?

I would predict that it would be the triggering catalyst of the next jump in human civilization between 250 to 500 years from now. That is, if man-made tampering with the climate does not melt an inordinate and rapid flood of fresh water off Baffin Island and Greenland upsetting the great saltwater ocean current systems bringing on an early 100,000 year long winter to the world the day after tomorrow.

I wrote about this theme of “fire or ice” futures as far back as 1990 while living in a sweltering tenement in India outside Osho’s Meditation university/holiday resort. The work was published in 1994 appearing in the chapter The Second Hellrider: Earth Trauma under the sub-section A Greenhouse or an Icehouse Effect? in the book The Millennium Book of Prophecy. This book strove to divide 777 predictions coming from over 200 prophets recorded throughout ancient to modern history up to the 1990s. Their judgment of tomorrow fell into two categories: collective witnesses of doomsday and/or “blooms”-day, visionaries of an end of the world or a way to end world-ending stupidity to forge a golden future.

The conclusion of the prophets and seers was mixed about global warming either cascading into a future of warmth without end or warming triggered a sudden and unexpected age of ice. Fire may beget ice, but that is not made clear in their collected, augured witness.

I invite you to read the book and the collective judgment of seers therein. In my personal effort not to contribute to either climate-changing catastrophe, I for now no longer publish books made of dead trees. One thing I can and did clearly conclude from reading so many collective visions of a fire or icy future is this: both fire and ice spell famine.

Right now, the future leans to the sky going hot in blazes the grain belts of the world wizened to weeds. Nostradamus is not an Ice-Ager proponent in his prophecies. It would seem from his view back in the mid-16th century – a time suffering the first stages of another bout of the climactic phenomenon called the Little Ice Age — that the future after the year 1999 was hot with winds, famines wars and pirate (terrorist) raids.

Follow, therefore, his vision of the planets Saturn and Mars far beyond the year 2012 into the fires of a globally warmed future

In the year when Saturn and Mars are equally fiery,
The air is very dry, a long comet:
From hidden fires a great place burns with heat,
Little rain, hot wind, wars and raids.

Here are the windows for climate change wars I described in detail back in 1994 in Millennium Book of Prophecy that the Pentagon finally reported as the main cause of conflicts in the future 11 years later. The comet may be a bearded star portent or a metaphor for a descending missile, shot by the desperate, falling upon the holder of dwindling resources they need to seize to survive in an ecologically impoverished world:

Feb/Mar 2015 — Mars (Aries), Saturn (Sag.)
Sept/Oct 2016 — Both in Sag.
Jan-Mar 2017 — Mars (Aries), Saturn (Sag.)
July-Sept 2017 — Mars (Leo), Saturn (Sag.)
May-June 2025 — Mars (Leo), Saturn (Aries)
April/May 2026 — Both in Aries!
Oct/Nov 2026 — Mars (Leo), Saturn (Aries)

I have marked the first two dates as the next window for a war with Iran (see Iran prophecies). I mark the last three in bold font because they coincide with Neptune (God of Oceans) moving for a long generational transit through the sign of Aries (hot tempers, hot climates).

Those of you know, who have been reading my ten published books made of trees since 1987. Those of you who have followed my blogs on this web site posted and archived since 1999 know. Those of you since 2006 who have moved beyond paper books into the world of my self-published eBooks fashioned out of photons and electrons know my view about the 2020s.

Long after all this hubbub about 2012 comes and goes, the next I designate the next decade as the likely tipping point time of apocalyptic disasters caused by human abuse of resources and the climate that will cause supersystem collapse. In other words, the overtaxed supersystems of fossil fuel, systems of agriculture, the industry of finding and sequestering potable water, the network to transport our basic needs of food, water and power, etc., will start collapsing in the mid-2020s at the latest. If we do not change course in the next few years, there will be a great worldwide famine foreseen by Nostradamus, leading to a “Balkanization” of the world, a descent into chaos.

It may very well be that the year 2011 sounds the alarm of what is coming. If you heed what I wrote in Predictions for 2011 about the coming food crisis of 2011 and other alarm bells sounding the unsustainable and see what alternatives to famine and turmoil are possible, then you can play your part preventing the coming catastrophe of the 2020s.

Nostradamus may have foreseen the threat of civilization’s unraveling when in 2 Q75 he described a future where “bushels of wheat will rise so high, that man will devour his fellow man.”

Famine is not coming in 2011 or perhaps even in the 2020s because of a lack of food but from a lack of imagination and intelligence that sees the human race stupidly waste and mismanage its food stuffs, or lets free market play range free chicken with human hunger. Sooner or later the leaders of the G20, perhaps even in 2011 or 2012, will gather for a world symposium to create a new food price standard that can keep the agriculture business growing and profitable but not at the cost of social upheavals that undermine civilization. A free trade must be enabled that is also free of Darwinian, survival-of-the-fittest price hikes that people cannot afford. Price hikes that pile, as Nostradamus visualized, bushels of wheat stacked like hills while man cannibalizes fellow man because he cannot afford to eat.

The food alarm is ringing in 2011 as I predicted it would.

US wheat futures surges to fresh 29-month highs in late January 2011 as growing concern over food prices drove Algeria to order another large grain purchase on the world market.

Algeria’s government is trying to buy their way out of a revolution like in Egypt by purchasing in one huge order what was expected to be a third of their expected wheat purchase from US sources: 800,000 metric tons! This has pushed January 2011 wheat futures in Europe to their highest level since March 2008.

Other North African and Middle East nations threatened with upheaval have also dramatically stepped up their grain orders since the Tunisian revolution. US global wheat exports since the Russian ban last summer have doubled. The intensifying weather of climate change that caused the Russian ban has so far profited US wheat exporters because violent weather is stifling competitors, like Canada and Australia, the latter seeing much of its grain crop under water from floods and only good now for feeding livestock.

Taiwan and other Asian countries are also bracing for a rush on grain exports hiking prices to the levels setting their own populations out on the street Tunisian-Egyptian style in protest later this year perhaps. To prevent demonstrations, Taiwan will lower its wheat tariffs by 50 percent to stem the tide!

Soft red American winter wheat is scheduled for March delivery to Algeria and several other Middle Eastern nations. In January it was the most actively traded contract, reaching a high of $8.61¼ a bushel at the Chicago Board of Trade, eclipsing an intraday high set last August when a drought led Russia to ban grain exports. Futures ended up 18¼ cents, or 2.1 percent, to $8.56½. How much of this winter wheat will be human friendly rather than feed friendly depends on an early cessation of these record breaking weekly winter storms blowing their icy breath across the US grain belts. Though they dump feet of snow in eastern US states, they leave the winter wheat fields of Kansas and Nebraska freeze dried by polar windstorms sweeping away the snow pack that protects the wheat seeds from freezing to death.

In the opening 10 days of the Egyptian Revolution, food stuffs began running out because of the lawlessness and chaos — most of which was apparently orchestrated by the Mubarak Regime pulling its police forces away to punish the people for demonstrating against 30 years of dictatorship. The cynical aim only, was to make them yearn for law and order rather than yearn for democracy.

The people suffered but they have so far shown know sign of backing down. At the time of this writing, the Egyptian dictatorship had to flip on the Internet or see his Stock Exchange off line in darkness for another week continuing the Egyptian economy crash. Now that Internet is switched on, the social network that started this rebellion over food prices has enjoyed its largest crowds of demonstrators on the streets yet seen. The Egyptian working poor and civil servants are threatening a national strike to gain better wages to pay for food among other dwindling basics hiked ever higher in price. The food pricing issue that started this rebellion becomes a survival issue that takes it to a new level of peaceful resistance to the regime.

The growing spread of the Freedom Square revolution in Cairo to all classes of Egyptian society will face a showdown and soon. The military will take over an interim role of reform referee while aiming to save their power and perhaps see a new Mubarak emerge. Remember, Mubarak “was” the head of a military junta for the last 30 years. The junta will not relinquish power openly. The paternalistic power base in Egypt is as ancient as the Pharaohs. To succeed the democracy movement must keep pressuring the military regime to change. They will also need to ORGANIZE themselves into political parties and committees. STAY IN LIBERATION SQUARE! Do not leave Tahrir Square until you have democracy. Otherwise the army will occupy the square you leave, thinking reforms are now going to happen. Without the “heart” beating in that Square, the revolution will be systematically crushed. Let the social networks not just get them all to the meet ups in Egyptian city squares. The mob needs to become an organized movement, otherwise they give gravitas to a continuation of the military regime.

This revolution is about the begin its most dangerous and equally most potentially positive phase. I will call it the vacuum of political transition. In the next few weeks (indeed in the next few minutes, as I write this update for posting a few minutes before Mubarak is about to speak to his people) the mobs in the street could riot, regime could still roll the tanks over demonstrators, the military could experience upheavals within its inner hierarchy in several palace coups between now and especially sometime after February 23 through February 28 because of a very rare astrological conjunction that unconsciously influences people, perhaps on both sides of this revolution, to run out of patience and heed the temptation to do violence. By the end of February the revolution will spread across the Middle East threatening monarchies in Jordan and the Gulf States and dictatorial governments in Yemen and Syria. This conjunction in Pisces of Mercury and Mars will be the subject of my next post on the oncoming “Arab” Revolution.

Now I wish to write about another temptation to violence. There is a stubborn pressure ready to break the seams of earth rather than regimes and revolutions. We all must carefully monitor between now and February’s end: Bardarbunga.

You will all know that name soon. It is not an anagram for that elephant of child stories (Bardar=Barbar), but it is an elephant sized Bardarbung-a-hole in Iceland. It is a volcano at of the time of this writing experiencing a warm of earthquakes that geologists are convinced is lava (a lot of it!) seeking a way to the surface, big Bardar time.

This “Bardarbunga” is about to go BardarBING, BardarBOOM!

What are the consequences?

Well, prophetically speaking if what my oracle detailed in Predictions for 2011 about natural disasters and climate change weather “redoubling” after the violent year of 2010 continues to be on track, then the eruption of Viking volcano Bardarbunga will unleash an ash cloud twice as large and lingering than its much smaller neighbor with the even longer and unpronounceable Icelandic name, Eyjafjallajokull. The latter spewed a cloud of ash ten months ago, grounding all fights in and out of the Europe for weeks. Bardarbunga, the largest volcano of Iceland may do far worse when the coming Mercury-Mars conjunction will goad more than people to lose their temper. Mother Earth, perhaps, may blow her top at us?

It is one of the best documentaries of the last decade, though, as is Discovery Channel’s bias, they do tend to be one-sided skeptical in the second hour at times, getting away with saying things that I could have easily challenged, but was not given chance to challenge. One of these days, I hope to convince Discovery to give the sympathetic skeptics like myself the chance to retort sloppy and lazy skeptical inquiry.

Although they cut my skeptical take on the Lost Book of Nostradamus alluding to the Mayan Calendar purportedly ending in 2012, it is well worth watching for all the things they “did” allow me to say in the final cut, because they are far more immediate and significant to your near future.

George Noory and me spent three hours going over prophecies of astrologers, Nostradamus and myself in Predictions for 2010 in an attempt to anticipate a summer of upheaval, natural disasters leading to an autumn of economic crisis. Also, George and I talked about 2012 sharing my unique take on prophecy’s biggest fore-fad. On some of these shows I added that the war would be triggered by some Pearl Harbor-like Arab terrorist attack, using a small nuclear or dirty atomic bomb to take down the Two Towers of the World Trade Center as soon as 1997, no later than 1999 or 2001. It transpired that 2001 was the year but no atomic or dirty bomb was needed to collapse the towers. Just a weapon of mass air transit-cum-mass destruction. The missiles of hijacked jets.

On the last day of 1999, I wrote and documented the following Press Release and posted it to media contacts around the world. Some of you early subscribers to HogueProphecy Bulletins also received a BCC broadcast of this press release and might remember it. The brackets are mine from today.

As it turned out, Art Bell took our show at the beginning in a completely different direction. We talked instead about another kind of terrorism. Spiritual terrorism. The kind of words like fire that burn down old and fossilized dogmas. The kind of enlightened, fresh ideas a Jesus, a Muhammad or a Buddha used to clean out the monkish mold of the religious status quo clogging human perception. Terrorizing an outdated and fossilized idea of truth is a good and creative cause. It is completely opposite to the terrorism I wished to explore that night. Still, I was happy Art Bell took us on a path towards those hopeful visions about the coming world of a new humanity and their transcendent new religiousness. They patiently wait for us, hands outstretched across the gulf of war, terror and woes we will face and transcend eventually.  I was glad to present a positive future; yet, after what later happened the following year to the World Trade Center, I wish that we had recorded for posterity the original theme, because I had planned to disseminate in three hours air time to millions of listeners across the globe detailed predictions pointing quite close to what happened 21 months later. Perhaps in some little way a talk of impending terrorist attack on America could have forewarned and influenced the outcome into something better

I have in my possession hard and computer copy of the notes I prepared for the show about terrorism. The themes of an imminent terrorist attack that would launch a 27-year world war, though not new in what I have predicted up to that point, gained a more specific and detailed focus upon the near future. The notes were listed under titles like Terrorist bombing of New York/Vatican/Other city (this alluded to a possible terrorist attack on the Vatican but mostly concentrated on predictions about a future attack on the World Trade Center that would plunge the buildings into a boiling cloud of smoke.). The notes considered the appearance of Mabus, Nostradamus’ Third Antichrist as the Arab terrorist responsible. Another bank of notations set under the title The Next President’s Crisis predicted that a terrorist event would overshadow the presidency of the man who would follow Bill Clinton into the White House.

A little less than a year later, G.W. Bush became that president. My first forebodings about his destiny regarding a failed military adventure in Iraq were recorded from August through December 2000. When that year ended, I began foreseeing a terrorist trigger to a war with Iraq and a wider conflict beyond. What follows might have presaged the coming terrorist attack on the US and what turned out to be a false premise it provided President Bush for attacking Iraq and compromising basic American freedoms for the sake of national security.

A political crisis in the year 2002 may see the mischief of apathetic voters come home to roost when a war in the Middle East threatens acts of terrorism in America. History shows that faltering governments often seek, or create common enemies to distract the populace from real domestic problems by uniting them behind their leaders to defend against a “greater evil.” In the worst-case scenario, extremist elements in the Bush administration might use a threat–or actual act of terrorism–as an excuse to evoke emergency rule. They would then gag the press, detain activists, and generally suspend democratic freedoms of American citizens above and beyond the needs of the emergency.

A “REAL” MILLENNIUM MESSAGE

ASSESSMENT (March 2007):
The above was partially fulfilled. After 9/11, Bush successfully rode the first few years of patriotic sentiments in US Congress and the nation to make law necessary “emergency” bills, such as the Patriot Act, to curtail many democratic freedoms of regular American citizens in the name of finding and preventing terrorists from attacking the homeland.  Since the terrorist attack on America in September 2001 not only suspected “terrorists” are under surveillance but also “yours truly.” Many American citizens critical of the Bush administration’s heavy-handed abuses are being scrutinized, their phones tapped, their emails electronically eavesdropped, or better, emails “e-dropped.” Who “else” knows what books or tapes you borrowed from your local library about Usama bin Laden? The Patriot Act quietly subverts our freedom while at the same time this administration neglects securing thousands of miles of US borders alongside Canada and Mexico. They are looking after your library records but either cannot, or do not, record the comings and goings of people and cargo from hundreds of US ports that are wide open to terrorist cell infiltration or a smuggled weapon of mass destruction. Is this just incompetence at play, or something more sinister?

The prophecy I posted above over 7 years ago may yet sound a bit polemic in tone compared to a more modest and secretive undermining of personal freedoms that has been going on, a kind of shadow usurpation of US democracy rather than a Reichstag firestorm of sweeping dictatorial subversion. That could all change in the flicker of a fleet cell phone signal’s “beep” that blows TNT surrounding stolen plutonium in a subway under New York city or ignites a dirty bomb in a van across from the White House in Washington D.C. If another act of terrorism in America between now through 2008 should happen, there will be emergency rule and martial law. Hopefully the emergency loss of basic freedoms will not last more than a short time rather than a life time, as I sense some Neo-con artists in power, subconsciously hope for. There are those who thrive for a calamity serving a clamoring for more security and order than freedom.

Recorded for the HP Bulletin, Bush or Gore? two Presidential Destinies in Prophecy issued on the eve of the last presidential election

I have posted this bulletin exactly one month before national election of 2004. I have chosen this time to blog for the record my prediction for who will become the US president in November. I have been making these presidential predictions since 1968. So far I have predicted the winner in every case. I published the prophecy above four years ago on the eve of the 2000 election. On that day I appeared on Jeff Rense’s nationally syndicated radio show to give a last prophetic word about who was going to win: Democrat Al Gore or Republican George W. Bush. It had remained firmly clear to me that Al Gore would win the election ever since I first stated my prediction on ABC’s “The View” two years earlier on 30 October 1998. Right beside this firm feeling was an equally strong and puzzling premonition growing that this was going to be the first time I predicted the wrong winner. At first I reasoned that premonition to be was a case of oracular jitters over the mounting odds against sustaining a winning streak of eight successes across 32 years for a ninth time; however, as the election date approached I began wondering if another “message” from the future was knocking on the door of perception, and my biases had locked the door. My prediction had evolved into a puzzling, prescient riddle impossible for me to unravel. I reasoned that only events on election day would resolve the conflict in my perception.

I conveyed the crux of this to Rense’s national audience, explaining that divination sometimes is an art wherein one neither understands nor supports the message received–still one must deliver it. I stood by what continued to be my unshakable premonition that Gore was going to win the election by a half-million votes. I accepted an equally certain premonition that I was going to be wrong.

As it turned out, I was right about Gore winning the election by a half-million votes and evidence continues to mount supporting the contention that he won the popular vote in Florida as well. And yet, the voting dispute in Florida completely blind sided me. The result of which led to the US Supreme Court choosing the clear loser by popular vote as America’s next president. In the end, the riddle prophecy was correct. Gore did win, and I “was” wrong. The experience has taught me that my presidential predictions since 1968 are an intuition based on tuning into the heart of the voting majority. The 18th century technicalities of Electoral College law, the cunningness of lawyers, the 50,000 African Americans denied their vote by a Republican Secretary of State of Florida were elements outside of my augury. I had tuned into the essential wish of the voters, not the incompetence of a Florida election official–a Democrat–designing and approving a butterfly ballot so confusing that thousands of voters choosing left-of-center Al Gore technically punched a hole for the right wing Reform Party candidate, Pat Buchanan. That was not their “wish.”

I appeared on Coast to Coast AM with Ian Punnet on 12 November 2000, six days after the dangling chad debate began in Florida, and the future winner of the presidency was in doubt.. Our conversation settled on predicting the destiny of either a Gore or Bush presidency. I told Ian’s national audience that affliction would rule the future scenario of either man’s administration. Clearly I saw greater troubles for the country and a quagmire in Iraq that would spread into a widening war of terrorism if Bush became the president. We will never know if my prediction of a more moderate disaster with four years of Gore was correct because destiny (and a majority of Supreme Court justices) set us down the course of the latter timeline. Unfortunately, many things I said in November and December of 2000 and again around Bush’s inauguration in January 2001 have come to pass. There has been a stagnation of the economy and a recession by 2002:

The US recession will begin. The Bush tax cuts may help it level off for a time, but the recession will deepen by the end of 2001 causing an economic crisis in 2002.

A “REAL” MILLENNIUM MESSAGE

I predicted as early as August 2000 in writing and on taped and documented radio show appearances that the Bush administration would put American troops on the ground in a major war in the Middle East two years into his presidency. The prophecy implied that the true motivation was a back door, right wing plot to control Iraq’s oil reserves and settle old scores from the previous Bush’s war with Saddam Hussein:

I’ve seen this coming years ago… I always felt that if a Republican was elected next, he would be a moderate Republican, but he would pick a right wing vice president. I thought it would have been a woman and that’s where I was wrong in these prophecies. I thought it would be Elizabeth Dole. She came somewhat close in the fact she actually tried to run this year. But I’ve got to consider that a failed prophecy. [Still], whether it was a man or a women I felt it would be someone who was extremely right wing…If a Bush-Cheney ticket did win, we would probably be in a major Middle East war with Iraq within two years…finishing unfinished business over oil…The oil business connections with the Bush-Cheney families are very strong.

Bush did initially present himself as a moderate Republican. Then he picked Cheney as his Vice President running mate–an avowed right wing ideologue of the neo-conservative movement. The press grumbled that Cheney, the former CEO of Haliburton Corporation, had too many conflicts of interests to be vice president because of his oil business ties with the Middle East. Perhaps they were right. At present, his former company, Haliburton, monopolized most of the contracts to rebuild Iraq’s oil infrastructure.

It is a well-known fact that the Bush administration began its military buildup for an Iraqi invasion two years after he was elected. The original plan was to invade Iraq in the late autumn of 2002 rather than early 2003. Bush in October 2002 relented to international pressure giving the United Nations weapons inspectors in Iraq a little more time to find weapons of mass destruction. A need for more political and diplomatic legitimacy had Bush going through the motions of appearing to make his case for invasion before the world. It was effective. Even most House and Senate Democrats–including Senator Kerry–blithely signed on to a bellicose Bush carte blanche, and gave the president war powers with nary a debate. Kerry and other Democrat legislators who presently condemn the president for rushing to war would like us to forget all the clear and present evidence they dismissed in October 2002 that implicated Bush was hell bent on war in Iraq, for whatever reason he could find or manufacture. But more important than this, the president postponed his invasion until early 2003 not to satisfy the UN, but support a far more valuable authority. There were those Pentagon planners who said they needed time to ship tens of thousands more soldiers for the invasion. The president was in a hurry to ramp up for war, though. He waved off other Pentagon pundits who cautioned the president needed hundreds of thousands more soldiers to invade and maintain postwar Iraq.

We are now in the Middle Eastern war I foresaw as far back as the summer of 2000. Are we in a “second Vietnam quagmire” yet?

Since US forces invaded Iraq early in the new year of 2003, ninety percent of all casualties lost by US and coalition forces so far have happened “after” Iraq was occupied and Saddam Hussein overthrown. On 1 May 2003, the president costumed with suitable flight-suit panache stood on the tarmac of the aircraft carrier Abraham Lincoln. He was as close to war zone Iraq as a dozen miles off the coast of San Diego, California, when he declared the Iraq mission accomplished. America took down Saddam Hussein’s regime and his supposed weapons of mass destruction (WMD) with a death toll just under 200 killed in action and several hundred wounded. Exactly 17 months later, the stockpiles of WMD (the grounds for which the war was fought) are no where to be found. The postwar Iraq period has seen the death toll mounting to 1,060 US dead, another 240 coalition dead, the US contractor death count pushing the 100 mark. There are 7,500 US and coalition wounded, 10 to 20,000 Iraqi dead, and signs point to this “liberated” country poised for a break up into three warring factions in a civil war next year.

It waddles and quacks like a quagmire to me. Still, on one prediction I made back in 2000, I will be completely wrong:

G.W. Bush will not be a single term president.

He will win a second term in office. This time his chief lawyer, James Baker, might have to use Gore’s re-count argument from 2000. Bush in 2004 might win a slight majority of the popular vote but lose the electoral vote to Kerry. I am sure Baker’s brace of lawyers will seek a loophole, or manufacture one, to negate Kerry’s electoral college majority. One possible scenario will see the Republicans complaining about e-votes falsely inflated by a computer glitch. They will successfully have these ballots overturned and their man will keep his job in the White House.

I first began saying for the record that Bush would win a second term on Whitley Strieber’s Dreamland cyber radio show ten months ago.

Here is an extract recorded on 2 December 2003. It is important to note that at the time Ralph Nader was not in the presidential campaign. The political campaigns of the Democratic and Republican parties were gearing up for the Iowa caucus and the first presidential primary in New Hampshire. I added the brackets today for clarification:

I think it will be a very close election again. I think Dean will be the man. Although Dean will be hamstrung by the old guard of the Democrat party who will not support him and will keep it rather divisive. I think Dean will be the man they choose [because] he has the best chance for defeating George Bush. But it’s also likely that one of the old crony Democrats might be running too…

Ralph Nader I think is about to put his endorsement in with Dean. And he’s already stated that he’s not going to run for the Green Party this year. I think he would run if Dean is denied his lead by the Democrat power system. Then I think he would step in.

Nader did step in as an independent candidate without the Green Party’s support when Howard Dean’s notorious Iowa caucus “screech” speech derailed his presidential campaign. The Dean people blamed the Kerry campaign for playing dirty tricks in Iowa and later in New Hampshire. One of these “tricks” purportedly had Democrat party bosses pressing their contacts in the media to misrepresent Dean’s Iowa caucus speech in a way that made him look like a screaming maniac. For a week afterwards, the TV press ran 700 replays of Dean trying to shout over the deafening cheers of his followers. What the microphone savvy press “overlooked” was Dean holding a commonly used TV mike by public speakers. It negates background noise, so the mike made him sound and look like an idiot shouting at the top of his lungs to a modestly cheering crowd. Only after his presidential campaign was virtually dead in the water, did the press admit to a technically flawed overstatement of Dean’s screech. The contrite press began replaying only a few examples of the video with the real sound levels in the meeting hall. The actual crowd noise was so thunderous that one could not even hear Dean trying to shout over the din.

After what I said about Dean’s potential undermining by the Democratic powers-that-be, Whitley Strieber asked me whether George Bush would win a second term. I said that he would despite what has come to pass in many of my previous predictions in 2000. His popularity would survive the faltering economy I foresaw in 2002 through 2003, because “the economy would start improving enough in 2004…to allow George W. Bush to squeak by for a second term.” Then I added:

When I say the economy’s improving, it’s probably not going to be that good [but] there’s a [state] of denial descending over America that is being manipulated quite brilliantly by the current administration. And my sense is that [at the time of the 2004 election day] things in Iraq will be…terrible.

Ten months after saying the above, the economy in 2004 has slightly improved, though it is still quite sluggish. The denial is deepening too. The Bush administration is repetitively reminding us just how much better Iraq is getting. However, the British “and” CIA intelligence reports of September 2004 forewarn America may lose the peace in Iraq. Whole regions of the country are now “no go” zones for US soldiers and contractors. Hostage taking of contractors is at an all-time high. A recent CIA intelligence report in its worse case scenario predicts a 3 to 1 chance of a plunge into a three-way Iraqi civil war by next year. Still, despite this, and President Bush’s poor showing in the first presidential debate, I still predict that the collective denial of Americans will deepen. On 2 November, more than half the country will still believe President Bush can lead the country better than Kerry in Iraq and the war on terror.

Let us now move three months forward from my statements on Strieber’s show in December 2003 to those made on Mitch Battros’ Earthchanges TV in March of 2004. Then it was clear that the powers of the Democratic party had pushed John F. Kerry to the forefront as their presidential candidate apparent. I assessed the consequences of Kerry’s new supremacy in the following statement:

We are seeing [the Democrats] repeat the mistakes the Republicans made in 1996 when they went against Clinton in his second term. [In 1994] Clinton [like Bush] was also in a lot of trouble after the end of his first term… [yet] I said [Clinton] would win. People [in 1994] were laughing me off radio shows saying ‘You’ve got to be kidding.’ They said, ‘There’s no way William Jefferson Clinton can win a second term…’ I said that [the Republicans] would pick Bob Dole because of the [Republican Party's] crony power system… And [I added that] Bob Dole, although he’s a fine man, is not presidential enough to win against Clinton.

I believe that the Democrats have now chosen their version of Bob Dole to run against George W. Bush.

Six months later, the presidential campaign of 2004 looks ever more like 1996. This may lead to an election result that is not as close as I currently predict. Bush, like Clinton against Dole in 1996, may win by a margin of the popular vote as high as five percent.

With that said, today I still hold to my prediction that 2004 will become one of the closest presidential races in history, with no less than three disputed states requiring a re-count. Bush’s poor showing in the first and the next two presidential debates will decimate his ten point lead in the polls from September. October will also narrow the race with bad news about rising oil prices, and a drop in the stock market. This will stretch the credibility ever thinner of any veil of improvement trying to hide the ugly face of this American economy. Also, Iraq is unraveling, and fast, but the public perception of the Bush Administration’s incompetent waging the war will not gain enough momentum before the elections to unseat him from office.

I will say this, after the elections on 2 November, the coming two months of warfare in Iraq will be the bloodiest seen. It will get worse after a railroaded Iraq election attempt in early 2005. By inauguration day in late January, a slight majority of Americans will see President Bush sworn into office for a second term and ponder, “What in the world have we done?”

WHY J. F. KERRY WILL LOSE IN 2004

Image matters in this ever more media-shallow American society. Kerry’s dull “Bob Dole” qualities make him an unexciting replacement to Bush. Bush might not be able to put two words together without a prompter but he’s folksy. Kerry puts too many words together and appears ponderous and pedantic. He needs a timer light to keep his statements pithy, as the first debate showed. Bush’s inarticulate cowboy campaign appeals to the shoot’em first and think later qualities of the average American mind

The Democratic party chose their man motivated not by what he would do, but because he is “anybody but” Bush. This is fundamentally flawed reasoning. Clinton beat the last Bush because he presented himself as a “positive” alternate. Negative alternatives never win presidential elections against an incumbent as Dole’s run as the Republican’s version of “anybody but Clinton” proved. The Republicans learned their lesson, the Democrats, as usual, have not. They run the real danger of dying out as a political party in the next four years if they do not heed their messengers of reform, like Howard Dean. Bush will win a second term because people will vote for the incumbent if they believe, or are made to believe, his policies improve the economy. It also helps Bush that both candidates come across with equally vague and similar sounding foreign and domestic policies. When a clear choice between candidates becomes the first casualty of a political campaign, Americans must pick their next president based on the lowest and most infantile denominator: likeability.

Ah shucks, folks, we all know who’s more chummy and who’s more like a mummy in this race.

Bush will not lose the election because of Iraq, although his Iraqi adventure is heading for an oil sinkhole on fire. His administration effectively manipulates and suspends the short term memory of Americans and their media. The American people want to believe things will get better in Iraq, so the White House postpones facing reality by spinning special dates for giving democracy to the Iraqis, such as 1 July 2003. The Bush administration knows well that things as promised definitely did not get better this summer after the American “viceroy” of Iraq, Paul Bremer, handed power over to the Iraqi provisional government of Prime Minister Allawi.

Time for a new deadline.

Again the Bush administration’s rhetoric implies a rosier future, and a better Iraq after elections in January 2005. The reality will be a civil war. Not to worry, that is after the presidential elections in November. There is still time to persuade enough Americans voters on 2 November to stay the course and reelect President Bush to complete the job in Iraq.

Finally, I will predict that the campaign and election of 2004 will go down in history as the most polarizing national election since the one held on the eve of the American Civil War. The election of 1860 divided the nation into the “blue” and liberal Northerners who believed in abolishing slavery and upholding a federal union. The Southerners became the “gray” Confederates who upheld and fought for the conservative notion of states’ rights and the tradition of slavery.

This time the election of 2004 will solidify a divide of the nation between the “blue” and the “red.”

Half the country, which is generally “blue” liberal and urban, harbor a near hysterical fear and hatred of the president. They are willing to choose any candidate presented by the blue party bosses that waddles like a president, or quacks like a president. Their motto is:

“Anybody but Bush!”

Half the country, which is generally “red” conservative and rural, harbor a near anal retentive fear and hatred of liberals in power. They will stand firm with their red president no matter what messes he steps into with his flight suit’s boot. Their motto is

“My Bush, right or wrong!”

The inspiration for many of your frantic doomsday inquiries about this comet stem from a book published by Llewellyn in 2001, and authored by R. W. Welch, entitled “Comet of Nostradamus.” Welch may have based this book’s theory that a comet would crash into the Aegean in mid-2004 on early–and faulty–trajectory calculations of astronomers of that day.

Let me reiterate what I said recently about Welch’s book first in an article posted on Whitley Strieber’s Unknowncountry.com web site, and later for Strieber’s subscriber cyber radio show Dreamland on 24 April 2004. A great comet–be it NEAT or any other that might surprise us unannounced–WILL NOT crash into the Aegean in mid-2004. This is just another Chicken Little tale fomented at the expense of Nostradamus’ prophecies. I predict that Welch’s theory will lay an egg.

It would appear that some of my interpretations of Nostradamus influenced Welch’s cometary disaster theory. Back in 1994, I referenced an interpretation based on several prophecies about a future comet or meteor strike in the Aegean Sea, off the Greek island of Ebboea. It is important to remember that Nostradamus NEVER gave a date for this event. There is only one astrological time window openly given by Nostradamus for a cosmic disaster in the future. Century 10, Quatrain 67 in Nostradamus’ book “Les Propheties” describes an apocalyptic rain of hail stones larger than an egg in May of some future year. The astrological configuration described in 10 Q67 is quite rare. It will take place in May of 3755! The sky may be falling someday, but not today! We may have to wait for a cometic or meteoric hammer fall in the Aegean, or anywhere else on earth, 1,751 years from now.

The sky will not fall on us, but in the second week of May it might illuminate a significant portent Nostradamus foresaw for America, its president, and their future in Iraq. It all depends on how bright Comet NEAT shines. According to the Central Bureau of Astronomical Telegrams, people in the Northern Hemisphere in early May will see it rise in the western skies after sunset. It should be at its brightest in the second week of May, when it transits the constellation of Cancer. Current projections from the NEAT team forecast a brightness of the first magnitude–about as luminous as one of the brighter stars in the evening sky.

It will not be alone in Cancer when it makes its cosmic statement. Saturn is there also. Because of this, the passing of NEAT may have far more prophetic significance.

The 16th-century French seer in Century 6, Quatrain 24 of his magnum prophetic opus “Les Propheties” predicted that a “calamitous war under Cancer” would be fought shortly after the conjunction of Mars with Jupiter. The most recent conjunction of the two planets took place in June of 2002. America invaded and occupied Iraq early the following year. America was born under the sign of Cancer, as is its current president. Are they both marked for calamity? Perhaps the planet Saturn will be the judge. Saturn in predictive astrology is the planet of karmic payment (that is, reactions that come home to roost from positive or negative actions committed). Saturn is also the ruler of personal and cosmic reality checks. Resist reality and you will suffer. Accept reality, and Saturn helps individuals and nations evolve and transcend their negative actions.

Saturn is transiting Cancer since early June of 2003. It entered Cancer a little more than a month after the Cancerian president Bush declared principal military action in Iraq successfully prosecuted. He made this announcement with bravado, wearing a Navy flight suit, standing upon a US aircraft carrier flight deck under the shadow of a sign declaring “Mission Accomplished.” There was reason to celebrate. A risky offensive into Iraq had only cost the lives of 117 US soldiers. America had overthrown an evil dictator, Saddam Hussein.

Then came Saturn into the sign of Cancer a little more than a month later. Its passing marked the sudden and unexpected rise of guerilla war in Iraq. The Iraqi celebrations in the streets of liberation from Saddam soon became demonstrations of frustration at bungled US occupation promises, and worse, open protest. As Saturn’s shadow crossed over the birth sign of America and its president, the Iraqi’s started calling liberators occupiers and US casualties steadily mounted after major military action they were told was over. One-hundred and nine US soldiers died before 1 May 2003. After 1 May 2004, America has occupied Iraq under the aspect of Saturn in Cancer and to date has lost 638 dead and over 3,500 wounded.

Astrologically speaking, Saturn is in its detriment in Cancer. That means many karmic road bumps ahead for America in Iraq and a rising polarization of the American public into liberal and conservative camps. The Cancerian president struggles against attacks hurled at his credibility. Saturn, the reality giver, exposes his grounds for going to war. Saddam Hussein had no weapons of mass destruction poised to strike America. Saturn exposes detrimental revelations about President Bush’s decision-making process in one exposé book after another–first from the released Secretary of Treasury, O’Neil, then a book from a fired national security adviser, Richard Clark. Bob Woodward recently published an implied revelation that the President makes many of his key decisions more from the instincts of his religious faith rather than gathered facts from CIA intelligence. The other day, photographs appear showing US male and female soldiers taunting and torturing naked Iraqi prisoners. The actions shame Americans and enrage the Islamic world. All of this is a product of the Saturn-in-Cancer effect in the president’s and the country’s astrology. And it will not be getting any easier any time soon. Both America and the president have 18 months to endure Saturn’s crawl through Cancer.

If Saturn is often seen as a portent of tough times, comets are believed to be messengers of great and often catastrophic change. Comet NEAT just happens to reach its brightest as it intersects with Saturn in Cancer from 14 to 17 May 2004. Nostradamus foresaw a comet that marks the onset of his 27-year war of the Third Antichrist–a global conflict fueled by international terrorism. If that comet is NEAT then it must do more than shine brightly enough to be recognized clearly with the naked eye of amateur astronomers. It must also produce a cometary tail significantly dramatic to rival the great comets of the past that anyone other than star gazers could not help notice. Thus, a bright cometary embrace of Saturn with the Comet NEAT in Cancer could date a descent into calamity for America and its president in Iraq. A bright comet’s tail could light the match of the next world war.

NOSTRADAMUS’ COMET PROPHECIES

Nostradamus referred at least ten times in his prophecies to cosmic portents. What follows is the index number of the prophecy with a short interpretation. For a full examination of the prophecies and my detailed interpretations, please read Nostradamus: The Complete Prophecies:

Nostradamus mixed his prophecies out of sequence to hide their meaning from those who would do worse with our future if they understood and acted upon them. Still, it often happens that prophecies describing a shared theme end up relatively close together in the ten Centuries (Volumes) of “Les Propheties.” Note how five of the eight direct references to comets concentrate in Century 2. Could they be about one event?

(Century) 1 Q (quatrain) 69 –A meteor or comet “4,247 feet 3 inches in circumference” (500 to 1,000 feet in diameter) crashes into the Aegean Sea, “drowning great countries…”

2 Q15 –A comet passes when a financial scandal afflicts the rule of a twin-named pope. The passing of Halley’s Comet in early 1986 probably fulfilled this prophecy when Pope John Paul II endured the Vatican Bank Scandal.

2 Q41 –A comet or supernova blazes for seven days during a future nuclear war or act of nuclear terrorism that forces a future pope to change his abode. A number of other quatrains describe what sounds like a natural disaster or nuclear terrorist attack on Rome.

2 Q43 –A comet (“bearded star”) appears when three great princes will be enemies. This was fulfilled in 1577 when a comet appeared just as Catholic King Henry III of France, and his off-and-on ally, Henry de Guise, leader of the Catholic League, fought the Huguenot (Protestant) forces of Henry of Navarre during the final year of the Sixth War of Religion. A shaky peace followed but soon collapsed. Later the three Henry’s fought a three sided civil war for the throne of France.

2 Q46 –After a great misery (possibly World War II) a greater approaches around the time of the millennium. This might be referring to what Nostradamus calls elsewhere in his prophecies a 27-year war of the Third Antichrist. This catalytic figure igniting the war he also calls “Mabus.”

2 Q62 –This by far is the most famous comet prophecy because it foretells the emergence of the Third Antichrist–”Mabus”–at the time when a “comet will pass.” The comet in question has to be a significant portent in the sky–not some little speck swallowed by the sun that only an astronomer sees in a telescope. Everyone has to see this comet in the skies! So far only two comets in recent history have matched this prerequisite: Halley’s Comet in 1986 and Comet Hale-Bopp in 1997. One prophecy implies that Nostradamus’ 27-year war begins near or shortly after the “seventh” month of “1999.” He might have meant the right “seventh” month (September) for the wrong year. If the terrorist attack on America on 11 September 2001 was be the “Pearl Harbor” event of the next world war, then the appearance of Hale-Bopp in 1997 is near enough in time to be the prime candidate for the comet of Mabus for now. In which case “Mabus” may be decoded as “Usama b”in Laden. Use Nostradamus’ laws of anagram to scramble the first name “Usama” to get “Maaus” (b)in Laden. Replace the redundant “a” with the “b,” and you get “Mabus.”

Perhaps there will be another comet coming in the future that shines in skies over which the war has already begun. Perhaps Nostradamus, ever the prescient poet, metaphorically implies the fall of a cometlike portent, rather than a literal comet as the marker for war. The Space Shuttle Columbia fell out of the skies just a few weeks before the Iraq War of G.W. Bush began. Is he “Mabus”? The law of anagram allows you to turn a “g” and a “w” upside down to make “m” and “a.” Add “bus” with a silent Latin “h” and you get “Mabus.”

2 Q96 –A comet or a description of a missile falls out of the sky near the Rhône river estuary in S. France at a time when “Persia” (Iran?) invades Macedonia (the modern day Balkans). The wording of this prophecy is vague enough to cover wars between Greece/Macedonia and Persia in the past or a conflict in the future.

4 Q67 –A “long” comet is seen in the skies when the world’s climate heats up, and “fires” of war and terrorist “raids” multiply. Astrological hints in this prophecy foresee such a comet appearing when Mars and Saturn are in Leo from June through July of 2006.

6 Q6 –Another reference to the destruction of Rome when a comet appears not far from the constellation of Cancer.

Presage 52 from the Almanac for the year 1560. The reference here concerns near-future events for France in the year 1560.

ASSESSMENT
Taken as a group, one could derive the following future scenarios:

COMET/METEOR STRIKE: One related to a natural or cosmic disaster. The quatrains describe a comet or meteor striking the eastern Mediterranean Sea sending thousand-foot tidal waves sloshing back and forth across the coasts of the Near East, North Africa and Southern Europe. Thus the references to Rome’s future destruction from fires and “floods” might infer a tidal wave toppling the Vatican and St. Peter’s Basilica. There are other astrological prophecies loosely hinting this for a time as far ahead as 3755 A.D.

TERRORIST ATTACK ON VATICAN WHEN A COMET PASSES: Another possible future connotes a terrorist attack on Rome around the time of a comet’s passing. Indeed the “comet” itself may be Nostradamus’ labored attempt to describe the fiery plume of a missile falling out of the sky like a comet.

COMET APPEARS AT THE DAWN OF WORLD WAR III: The appearance of Halley’s Comet in 1986, Hale-Bopp in 1997 may portend that the world war of Nostradamus’ Third Antichrist is at hand. It is popularly believed that he dated the onset of war for July or September 1999. The war may have begun in September of 2001. A near miss but close enough, when one considers that the future, like the present, is not static. It is dynamic. Changes happen.

A DISASTER THAT “LOOKS” LIKE A COMET TO NOSTRADAMUS PORTENDS WORLD WAR III: Nostradamus was human and often misread his symbols. Therefore we cannot rule out the Columbia Shuttle disaster as the comet falling out of the sky foreseen to mark the beginning of the 27-year war of the Third Antichrist. Columbia fell out of the sky in the month before the US invasion of Iraq. The US occupation in Iraq could turn out to be the catalyst of an escalation and spread of a global terrorist conflict. Therefore, Columbia’s fiery fall like a comet over Texas (the home state of the president waging such a war) is the cometary omen foreseen by Nostradamus.
