The BARDO meditation "AWAKENING FROM THE DREAM" is designed to incorporate a lifetime of spiritual practice into the moments of heightened awareness in life and the transition we call death. This edition is special in that it translates the ancient reading of the Bardo into a language that can be understood by the contemporary man.

Listening to these CDs, you will be in an altered state of consciousness. In this receptive state, your memory system in the subtle (astral) body will store the process outlined in these CDs so that you are able to remember it after your physical death, when body, mind and personality are disintegrating, and the components of your consciousness dissolve into the elements. The witnessing consciousness of a meditator will be present through all the transits of BARDO, which include, the choosing of the next lifetime, the womb experience and the birth experience to come. These teachings are taken directly from the centuries-old Tibetan Book of the Dead, which is the scientific map for transforming an individual's consciousness to the highest level possible. It is perhaps the Tibetans' greatest gift of meditation and enlightenment to mankind.

Our intention in offering this meditation CD set is to evoke courage, understanding, and celebration of our transition in dying, and in this way strengthen our understanding the gift of a conscious, graceful, and abundant life. This may seem paradoxical, but understanding our mortality is the best way to finding love, light, and consciousness while we are alive! Remember the story of the Christmas Carol, where Scrouge is transformed into a loving, generous, beautiful being after his meeting with death. It is a heartwarming story based on a true phenomenon. Meeting our own death allows us to really live for the first time.

What is the BARDO?

The Bardo is an effective way of waking up and finding freedom by seeing the robot-like nature of our minds, which cling to desires instead of being in the present. Living a life in the present moment with awareness is the only antidote to a future foreseen by prophecies of doom, death, war, famine, and all the human suffering which the prophets down the ages have pictured for our near future. Prophecies and predictions about the future are only relevant to those who remain asleep because unconsciousness drives that future. Awareness forges a new future for each individual. It is born here and now through the science of Self-Awareness that the ancient Bardo represents. These CD meditations present an authentic path to individual awakening. They can help one join those who collectively work to avoid a future of suffering.

The Bardo CDs also provide an opportunity for the listener to relax and feel supported in understanding that being alive is a precious gift and there is a possibility that our transition can really become the peak of a beautiful lifetime -- the conscious "returning home" to our real nature, our essence, which has never been separate from the whole.

The teaching reminds the listener to constantly recognize that all phenomena are projections of one's own mind. In this way it attempts to liberate the listener from clinging to old desires and beliefs of separation, which cause fear and self-protection. Once this is experienced in Bardo meditation, it can transform a person's life.

These CDs, and the instructions provided with them, can also be used as a preparation for -- and guidance through -- the dissolution of the ego-personality after the physical death has occured. Instructions are included with the CDs.

The preparation for the transition of a conscious death happens in life through experiences of deep levels of meditation, moments of authentic love and compassion, and a life enriched by sharing and receiving. Through the Bardo practice, realization of Enlightenment can happen at any moment, and this meditation helps us to realize our oneness with all of existence. BARDO is a preparation for this awareness and the beginning of the soul's journey from one life into another life, and from unconsciousness to consciousness.
