As you advance through each quoted passage you will be traveling back in time to that third comment logged in the spring of 2000 and reprinted a month after the 9-11 attacks in October 2001. This comment appeared in my book Nostradamus: The New Millennium, published in early 2002.

It represents what is the real king of terror, descending from the skies Nostradamus foresaw in his notorious “1999” prophecy indexed Century 10 Quatrain 72 of his history of the future. Perhaps he did not completely understand what he saw; or, we may tend to project something more familiar upon a more abstract meaning to his Roi d’Effrayeur (“King of Terror) coming from the sky.

Let judgment fall to the jury that is time and events sitting and gathering evidence over a decade. I once again send you this message about your present and your near future. I predict the real terror descending from your skies is far greater than anything that happened on 11 September 2001 and you have the means to prevent it.

The first quote was written in the summer of 2008:

Effrayeur is a dreadful word.

In French it means: to frighten, to alarm, to terrify. It lunges from the Latin formido: dread, terror. It is sudden, throat grabbing fright, unexpected and disturbing to the core. It soars on the wings of an airline jet roaring through soft blue autumnal skies over the narrow valley streets and manmade canyons of New York – an outrage of noise that guides one to look upwards and see its source devoured by the North Tower of the World Trade Center. Violence! Instantly rejected in the vomit of hot acid fuel spittle, fireballs, thunder and the after note of human shock and horror declared in ten thousand expletives of disbelief from those who witnessed it.

Effrayeur is Lord of the Skies the moment perception is raped by accident becoming terrible intent. It comes casting its lengthening swift shadow over towns and valleys of the Garden State, soaring across green waters of the Hudson, accelerating.

The Lord of Terror comes down from the skies, heralded by ovations of disbelief as now millions of New Yorkers and hundreds of millions of people around the world, in tight lipped or gaping horror before television screens, beat bewildered and unbelieving hearts. Terror charges in, turning slowly on the wings of infamy, engines screaming at full thrust to perform a macabre disappearance into the South Tower of the World Trade Center as if solid steel and glass were a vertical surface of water and a 767 Boeing passenger jet was an Olympic diver entering that surface in a perfect dive with nary a splash. In an instant the perversion of physics is erased by fireballs and the disbelieving screams of millions, in public, standing upon balconies and streets around New York, or viewed on televisions in private homes, bars, restaurants, TV shops and offices. In that moment of outrage and alarm, terror, set free of hijacked planes, seized hearts in public and private places across half the planet as all in that moment understood these planes crashing into buildings were no accident but a brazen attack on the United States.

Nostradamus in 2 Q30, his Majus-Mabus quatrain, defined Mabus [his code name for his Antichrist] as fera renaiƒtre, effrayeur des humains (terror to all human beings). The word is a very important clue that might guide us down the anagram trail to another set of candidates for Antichrist, also from the Middle East, but unlike Marxist-Leninist leaning Palestinian guerillas and secular pan-Arabist tyrants like Saddam Hussein, these are fanatically religious men, servants of martyrdom and if they could they would drag the whole wicked world down in the eruption of their own self-consuming flames. They are candidates for Antichrist as infernal holy warriors of Islam.

The first leg of following effrayeur-linking words to other quatrains brings us before Nostradamus’ most famous dated prophecy:

L’an mil neuf cens nonante neuf sept mois,
Du ciel viendra vn grand Roy d’effrayeur.
Resusciter le grand Roy d’Angolmois.
Auant apres Mars regner par bon heur.

The great King of Terror will come from the sky.
He will bring back the Khan of the Mongols.
Before and after Mars rules happily.

Specific dates are rare in Nostradamus but often accurate. This is the most specific he would ever write for our times. That makes it the most important to understand, to crack its code if there is one. It intends to mark a protean shift in human history proceeding from an act of terror coming from the sky. The King of Terror will bring back Genghis Khan, the King (Khan) of the Mongols. This is a metaphor used to frame something in the time of 1999 or thereabouts to a historical trauma still haunting the memory of 16th-century Europeans. Irresistible Mongol hordes had galloped out of Asia three centuries before Nostradamus wrote this prophecy. No European army of knights or siege walls could check them. The Mongols would have overrun Europe altogether had it not been for the opportune death of Genghis Khan’s heir, Ögedei Khan (d.1241), compelling them to turn their bridles eastward towards Mongolia to parlay for a successor. Nostradamus uses a metaphor of “yellow peril” brought back to challenge the West in 1999. What connection this danger has to the King of Terror lies obscure.

Nostradamus ends the prophecy with one last riddle. Mars is symbolic of war thriving happily. The higher aspect of Mars, however, is the Magus – the enlightened master and forger of new consciousness, new enterprises and explorations. Nostradamus may be using this noble title in a negative context, or to obscure allies and perpetrators of the King of Terror.

Let’s delve into more classical allusions.

The term Magus was originally applied to high priests of ancient Persia; are we thereby to consider this a classical allusion to the modern Islamic Republic of Iran “ruling happily” through wars of the Third Antichrist? If we are, then the renascent Mongol king is a current Iranian ally, a new “Khan” among totalitarian rulers of the awakening capitalist-communist hybrid superpower, The People’s Republic of China.

Then there’s the anagram tie-in to the Mabus quatrains. Take the g of Magus, turn it over and you have b for Mabus.

A deeper classical understanding of Baal Hammon-[or Thurbo Majus, the Latin name Roman conquerors of Cathage gave that God] connects it to the “King of Terror” descending from the skies. The Carthaginians and Phoenicians worshipped an all-powerful “Baal” or “Lord” God. The extent of Baal worship stretched from North Africa across lands currently called Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Israel, Syria and Iraq. Each region gave him a personalized name. What Nostradamus in 2 Q30 called the infernal god of Hannibal, Baal Hammon, was Lord patron deity of Carthage. When angered, Baal – any Baal – would retaliate bringing down storm and thunder as a “Lord of Terror coming from the skies.” The conduit of biblical and classical meaning has Baal Hammon, then, under the Romanized name Thurbo Majus, hiding Nostradamus’ Mabus as the King of Terror descending from the sky, resurrecting Mongol power in the emergent superpower China, allied to an emergent regional Middle Eastern superpower, Iran – China’s primary source of crude oil.

Now let’s turn insight into 9-11 on its ear. I wrote the second quote back in December 2007 for my almanac of prophecies for 2008. Now I wish to share them with the public at large to provoke a fresh look beyond 9/11 conspiracy dogma, at the real conspiracy most people where meant to miss.

Yes, Mildred, passenger jets full of people making readily documented cell phone calls about being hijacked on September 11, 2001, must have been faked by shadow elements in Illuminati-nation. While President Bush, during the attack, sat for seven minutes engrossed with a reading of “My Pet Goat” to an elementary class, uber-meisters who plugged him into presidency were having a Reich-Stag party abusing Lady Liberty’s city. Fake bin-Ladinites suddenly appeared in pilot seats to crash their Boeing 757s into New York City’s World Trade Center towers and the US Pentagon building in Washington D.C.

Those Boeing birds, in a twinkling of a geek-imagining eye, saw the love handle bulge of their wheel bays become — shazam! — customized cargo bays full of high explosives. And if that wasn’t enough to take a tower down, self-Illuminati-ated janitors-turned special “farces” — over Lord knows how many years — snuck around tearing open people’s office walls up and down 110 floors of each World Trade Center Tower, planting their sophisticated network of high explosives and wires to rival those openly planted in broad daylight over months of careful labor by demolition teams to blow down derelict skyscrapers.

9-11 conspiracies abound. Some imply conspiracies of commission; in other words, the Bush Administration set up a "false flag" conspiracy. Other's look to the August 2011 meeting of Bush's cabinet at his Crawford, Texas, dude ranch wherein, it is said he received actionable intelligence that Osama bin Laden was about to attack, yet did not do anything. This is the conspiracy of "omission."

Maybe the president in a moment of inattention following the exciting exploits of the pet goat was transfixed — stunned-mullet-eyed in wonder– of demolition agents of his shadow government being able to plant miles of blast wire and thousands of pounds of high explosives in two of the world’s most people-packed places. They did it with thousands of office paper pushers underfoot at all hours of the day. Each 110-floor twin tower, on average, had 50,000 people pass through its doors each day.

These towers collapsed into their own boiling cauldron of debris so smoothly.

Heck, no Aye-rab could have done that with a plane. Just like no 757 could punch such a small hole in the Pentagon. It must have been a cruise missile of some kind. Those frantic cell phone calls from passengers calling about the hijacking of American Airlines Flight 77, included the well-known MSNBC political analyst Barbara K. Olson. The tapes of her call to her husband, United States Solicitor General Theodore Olson at the Department of Justice, must have been faked in a sound studio because the 64 people on the plane with her can’t just have disappeared. The shadow government must have pulled their wool of darkness over anyone listed as passengers on that plane.

The Illuminati can do that.

Oh yes!

Just ask my pet goat. I mean, let’s face it, an over-lording and vastly efficient shadow organization must be pretty hot shit when they employ one of the most inept, corrupt, bungling, secrets leaking administrations in modern US history as their Patsy for a fake al-Qaeda attack on America.

Now let’s place 9-11 prophetic theory on its head. The third quote was published in October 2001 and written over a year before the attacks; yet, it alludes to a revelation about Nostradamus’ 1999 prophecy logged over two years before the attack in some of my first articles for Hogueprophecy.com:

In July of 1999, the dramatic intensification of hot and violent weather inspired me to declare that Nostradamus’ long awaited “king of Terror” expected to descend from the skies in July of 1999 was not a person, but a phenomenon. It is Global Warming. Furthermore, this “king” and his “terror” of superstorms, global droughts and subsequent global famines is with us for the coming 30 years.

The events of the spring of 2000 [when I wrote these observations] only add to the efficacy of Nostradamus’ famous warning: “In 1999 and seven months, the great King of Terror will descend from the skies…” (Century 10, Quatrain 72)

The obscurity of Nostradamus’ Old French syntax allows the prophecy to also cover July [2000] by adding “seven months” from the end of 1999 and getting July 2000. This could tie into the first prophecy’s warning of a terrible drought in latitude 48 in “Cancer.” By the end of July (a month represented by “Cancer” in astrology), we could witness more dramatic climatic upheavals. There may be powerful level 5 hurricanes, and a boiling of field and stream from unprecedented heat waves spanning across the American Midwest and Southeast all the way to Southwest France.

(Update [October 2001]: The summer of 2000 saw a half-dozen typhoons flood China, Taiwan the Philippines, Japan and Vietnam. The United Nations announced that at least 60 million people in central and southern Asia had been affected by a severe drought. By August India was beset by monsoon downpours flooding along the Brahmaputra and Ganges rivers leaving more than 51 million people homeless. The American midwest and Southeast endured a third year of the worst drought since the Dust Bowl years of the 1930s. In July visitors returning from the North Pole reported that the polar ice cap had melted for the first time in recorded history. There was open ocean at the top of the world where one used to tread upon thick ice.)

In a world where the polluted atmosphere taps the sun’s heat, extreme weather is the norm. Many prophecies I have recorded in my books forewarn of areas flooded and whipped by dreadful storms, while other regions suffer droughts of biblical proportions. Add to this the dwindling supply of fresh water to sustain a billion new people appearing on the earth in the first eleven years of the new millennium [and a billion more twelve years after that] and [my new and controversial interpretation of this famous prophecy] will perhaps find [its] fulfillment.

If the end of July 2000 marks the onset of these unpleasant events they may yet again warn us in time to change. Killer droughts and storms could galvanize the public and leaders alike to create a long-term policy to prevent a runaway weather catastrophe before it is too late.

(Update [October 2001]: Since the summer of 2000, the developed nations of Europe have moved to initiate an emission limiting regimen delineated by the Kyoto Accords, but the United States has backed away from any official reductions. The new Bush administration, which is clearly pro-fossil fuel in its energy policies, will not support the reduction of emissions and is doing its utmost to roll back twenty years of ecological and energy saving policies to produce more greenhouse gas emissions to feed its sagging consumer economy. Indeed, the new leadership scoffs at the overwhelming scientific evidence that an increased use of fossil fuel will only bring on greater fever and convulsions in future climatic weather. Thus at the time of this writing, the greatest polluter and energy using developed nation continues to feed the King of Terror called Global Warming.)

Over the memorial celebration for those lost in the crash of Flight 93 set in fields of Pennsylvania attended by the President and First Lady. Baking the Vice President and throngs gathered at the monument benches representing all those killed when Flight 77 crashed into the Pentagon. Descending out of the skies on tens of thousands standing at the Ground Zero listening to the friends, survivors and families of the lost reciting their names at the World Trade Center under reconstruction in New York City, the late summer day was hot — far hotter than on September 11, 2001 when the terror of hijacked commercial airlines came out of the skies.

The long, hot and often triple-digit heat waves of summer 2011 break most records from the summer of 2001. A great swath of mounting rolling terror comes out of the sky, like the thunder of typhoons and hurricanes, flashing like the lightning highlighted in less than a gasping blink of a second, of frightful columns of super cell tornadoes in Joplin, Missouri, Huntsville, Alabama. The rolling and drumming of 20 inches of rain that just fell across New Orleans and up the Appalachian states feeds new flood to Hurricane Irene’s watery ennui of disaster from New England to New Jersey. It sounds the king of Terror is on the march with a tattoo of drumming rains. The reflection of his cloudy grimace in skies projects upon the standing water under which Queensland, Australia lies. His reflection stands in waters drowning southeastern China and the winding, swollen mirror of the swamped Missouri and Mississippi River basins do project a glimpse of his angry solar eyes. The great king of terror of 2011 sets not a fireball to high tower like in 2001, but makes the sun a fireball scorching the central continental farmlands of the world, especially over Oklahoma and Texas.

Do you recognize yet this King of Terror?

He pushes us in the corner of our denial and breathes on us.

He exhales our stupidity out of stove to car exhaust pipes. He blights the atmosphere out of an acid rain forest of coal breathing smoke stacks. He is conjured by our excess, our shortsighted planning. He seeks an ally in our adversarial primeval habit to see Nature as a thing to be conquered when we had conquered her long ago. Yet there lurks the cave man and woman still hiding underneath our thin veneer of civilization aided now by the power of modern technology to destroy the ecosystem in a climate cascade and take down our civilization with it if we do not catch up with our golden destiny, to become a new, meditative, ecologically sound and loving humanity.

That future humanity is in harmony with the cosmos. That humanity will no longer suppress the ransacking fearful, covetous savage because these future people that are in seed within each of us today will have flowered and looked deep inside themselves exploring the caves of the primeval subconscious mind with a shining light of awareness. They thus will understand the savage habit and by understanding dispel him once and for all with their enlightenment.

Frankly, I do not care if Nostradamus never meant his 1999 prophecy to mean global warming. But I do care that you meditate on this King of Terror he may have missed. See your part in its tyranny, and do your part to starve him of your pollution of mind and the bitter fruits of the unconscious mind’s labors before his descent from the skies becomes a climate change your civilization cannot survive.

Yesterday was the ninth anniversary of the start of the US war in Afghanistan. It was a SAD day. That is, it was a day when CIA “teams” otherwise called members of the Special Activities Division (SAD) were airlifted and air dropped with units of the US Army 5th Special Forces Group to begin combat operations. With the ensuing years in my mind of ever more farcical strategic entanglements in a land noted for destroying empires (the Soviets being the last victim), my thoughts on this anniversary stray towards Nostradamus’ third and final antichrist, code named Mabus, and a war that has in my opinion become a strategic comic tragedy.

One of the candidates for Mabus was the man specifically sought by CIA and US Army Special Forces on 7 October 2001 that triggered the war, which has so far killed around 30,000 Taliban insurgents as well as erased from life 2,053 Coalition soldiers (1,245-and-counting being Americans) and wounded 12,523. The man, Usama bin Laden, and his al-Qaeda organization were the targets yet they are still at large. Moreover, nearly 119,819 coalition troops occupy and fight 93,000 Afghan Taliban while Usama bin Laden and his terrorists remain absent from Afghanist. The war goes on in a land he evacuated nine years ago that today has at best a handful of al-Qaeda fighters in-country.

A letter I received from “Dan” reminds me that we ought to apply a rare Medieval colloquial meaning to the 16th-century word Nostradamus uses to clue us into many of his quatrains about his third and final Antichrist, temporally slated to be among us today. The word is “terror” (effrayeur in Renaissance French). I’m assuming Dan thinks it is deffrayeur, which means to amuse, to divert.

DAN
“Un grand Roye d’effrayeur” means: “a great king of comedy”
“descendra des nuages” means: “will descend from the clouds”

HOGUE
Dan, you cite Century 10 Quatrain 72 as one example but your memory of the original French is wrong.

The line should read:

Du ciel viendra vn grand Roy d’effrayeur.

(From the sky will come a great King of terror.)

The inference popularly regarded these days is that Nostradamus visualized a great terror attack coming out of the skies, such as what happened on 11 September 2001 when Usama bin Laden’s al-Qaeda terrorist organization successfully hijacked airliners and piloted them into the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center and the Pentagon. The fourth airliner set to collapse the US Capitol dome crashed in a field outside of Pittsburgh, PA.

The prophecy’s first line says:

L’an mil neuf cens nonante neuf sept mois

(In the year 1999 Sept[ember] month.)

It is believed now that Sept stands for September and that the ones and nines should be read switched around in Nostradamus’ dating of the event:

In the year 9.11.1 September month.

Now that we have corrected Dan’s mistake let’s return to his belief that effrayeur had an old French meaning for a crazy fou, a cantankerous railleur, or a bouffon (all the usual labels for a court jester). Perhaps he is mistaking d’effrayeur as a word play for deffrayeur. Today I’d be willing to fly with the remote possibility of a double entendre — that a terror can also clown around with the Antichrist clues — in d’effrayeur. Interpretations ought to remain fluid enough to shine further light on this prophetic mystery story. I have not found a correlation in old French using effrayeur as a label for a frightening court jester. Clowns can be terrifying. Can Dan or any other Moyen français francofiles verify his theory below? What novels or other examples in 16th-century French literature cite effrayeur as a title for a clown?

DAN

The word effrayeur is an old now obscure word. He was a member of the traveling clown troubadour groups that eventually became circuses. The “effrayeur” literally was a character derived from the court jester and dressed rather oddly went around frightening people. The “effrayeur” could be bought or paid to frighten even intimidate specific individuals on an on going basis. There are novels written from that period that use that as the theme.

Not the King of terrors. The third anti-Christ might even be considered crazy by some because of some of the claims that he makes about religion. There are several quatrains that deal with a religious reformer by Nostradamus who will challenge the authority of the Vatican. When can this character be expected to arrive? Or has he and no one noticed?

HOGUE
The crazy factor of the antichrists is implied between the lines of Nostradamus’ prophetic account of the First Antichrist (Napaluon-Napoleon). Ambition drove him too far East. His armies “die in the white country” of Russia in 1812.

The next buffoon of doom called Hister is second Antichrist Adolf Hitler. Where to begin about listing the crazy crack-brained stratagems of this Hitlerian harlequin?

Who is the greater foolish Antichrist? The fool Napoleon who invaded Russia or the fool who followed him invading the same place 129 years later on nearly the same anniversary in 1941? The Germans freeze their wiener schnitzels worse than the Frenchmen froze their baguettes in the snows of Russia before Moscow.

After Hister there is one more effrayer-rant Scarmouch to Bozo the future. His code name is Mabus.

I wrote at length in my book about the Mabus code Nostradamus used to link prophecies by key words. For instance, effrayeur connects several quatrains purposefully scattered out of order throughout the quatrains of Nostradamus to protect them from easy understanding by candidates for antichrists who might want to change their forecasted ill fortunes. They were snooping around, you know.

It is believed that Emperor Napoleon received prophecy consultations from Egyptian books of fate and Empress Josephine’s reading of Nostradamus. Hitler’s propaganda minister Goebbels openly used Nostradamus’ prophecies in acts of psychological warfare against the French and English.

Best to scatter a larger prophecy in four-line quatrains to make the fishing job of Antichrists and their publicists harder. Good seekers are given clues. Nostradamus repeats certain words as possible links to other quatrains enlarging the prophecy. Gather those quatrains together with effrayeur written in them and you might fit quatrain pieces of a puzzle depicting a full prophecy about the third and final antichrist. Nostradamus loved puns and double entendre. I think it is possible he would us to apply the obscure and arcane Moyen Français meaning of d’effrayeur, if indeed there is one. Certainly using an apostrophe to hide deffrayeur is even more likely. It might allude to this King of terror being the third and ultimate psychotic prankster of the three.

An old French meaning for terrorist-clown-jester may allude indirectly to a 9/11 conspiracy overlooked. The Bush administration in August 2001 had actionable intelligence on an imminent attack by al-Qaeda on the American homeland. Some would say the attack the following month was a conspiracy of omission rather than the more popular scenario implicating the Bush administration fabricating a false flag-waving fraud attack on the USA to silence opposition in Congress and gain complete influence over the country under attack.

Beyond all the whys, hows, howls and wherefores promoted by the conspiracy-by-commission buffs, there is one simple reality that makes the fantastic tale of twin towers being wired with explosives, hit by remote control jets, etc., little more than the muttering brass cackles of clown horns honking in the dark. Consider a simple fact lying underneath all the phantasms of innuendo thrown into this conspiracy theory and see it for what it is: built on a foundation made of banana peels that even a zany droll trucking in on bizarrely huge shoes would slip upon, landing his big polka-dotted butt in a pratfall.

What lies underneath and supports this conspiracy is an assumed faith in the Bush Administration having the competence to pull it off. (honk-honk! Woo wooooo!)

Let’s calm down folks and remember: G.W. Bush of all people, President “bedtime for Bonzo” Bush, had to pull off this complicated conspiracy theory.

Now anyone who had read a series of evolving Neo-Conservative manifestos written in the 1990s by future key members of the Bush cabinet, such as Deputy Secretary of Defense Paul Wolfowitz and Vice President Dick Cheney, has seen these papers explain the need for a “Pearl Harbor” event to gain the political control needed to rapidly advance their agenda. Upon reading the transcripts I could detect a movement thinking out loud and in public as Mein Kampf spelling out Hitler’s aspirations and schemes for political domination. The Neo-Cons needed a surprise terror attack on America that they could connect to two rogue nations that they believed replaced the fallen Soviet Union as the new threats to world stability and US hegemony. Rogue regimes in Iran and Iraq had to go, with consent of allies or by unilateral action if need be, because they threatened the disruption of precious oil imports the West and primarily the United States needed to sustain its role as a world dominant economy and unilateral global neo-Con cop.

Speaking once again of clowns and Antichrists, only a clown would resort to fabricating an elaborate false flag conspiracy rather than look the other way enabling another willing, fool effrayeur like Usama bin Laden to attack the United States. In August 2001, the Bush cabinet met at the president’s Crawford Texas dude ranch for the first of eight, lost and lazy month-long summer vacations in Bush’s two terms in office. The cabinet members had the reports spread on the Crawford Ranch coffee table about Usama bin Laden’s intent to attack and soon. They seemed to shrug it off. Is this testimony to their ineptitude or evidence of intent?

I do not rule out the former, but if the latter was the case, they knew Usama the Mournful Muslim Clown’s al-Qaeda organization’s power to hurt the country was limited. Al-Qaeda is no nuclear Soviet superpower. Damage sustained from a privateer Saudi terror cell would be sustainable — necessary even — to gain the political capital. Even President Obama, nearly a decade later, confessed to reporter Bob Woodward that the United States could “absorb” another al-Qaeda attack.

Thus, essays published by Neo-conservatives a month before G.W. Bush had his first debate with Al Gore in the 2000 presidential campaign openly addressed the advantages of a Pearl Harbor moment. It could be strategically achieved at relatively low cost giving Neo-Conservatism carte blanche to effect strategic domestic and international policy change as the emergency silenced all dissent while the nation rallied around their president. The people at home and in Congress in a state of national trauma would accept any Axis of Bush’s evil effrayeur suppositions mostly unproven as a righteous excuse to take down Saddam Hussein’s Iraqi dictatorship and perhaps even settle the score and overthrow the longtime US enemy Ayatollah regime in Iran.

In short, you do not have to fabricate a conspiracy to attack, you piggy-back and exploit someone else’s conspiracy. Remote control jets? Wire twin towers with explosives whilst keeping all those months of wall gutting construction secret from the 50,000 people coming in and out of each tower every day? I mean, come on? You’re the “Bush” administration. There’s limits to what you Keystone Cops can pull off. Why sweat it? Let the Hajj harlequin, the Lawrence-bin-Laden of Arabia do it. He’s willing to attack America on his own accord, on his own coin. He needed no prompting. He was the real deal. Bin Laden handed Bush and the Neo-Conservatives this dark comedy cloddishly called “The War on Terror”. Moreover, when Laden of Arabia and his best terror troops were surrounded up in the Tora Bora Mountains in Afghanistan, isn’t it interesting how easy it was for them to pass over into Pakistan.

Was the US 10th Mountain Division blocking the passes? Noooo! Some Pashtun clowns paid off by CIA operatives the week before to abandon supporting al-Qaeda, waited for bin Laden’s boys to saunter through throwing a higher bribe on the Afghan carpeted tent floor. Let those clowns go, thanks very much, into Pakistan where they are based and blowing things up in Afghanistan “and” Pakistan to this very day over nine years later.

It seems like the Neo-Clown-servatives in the White House circus needed bin Laden’s jihadist pantaloons in Pakistan and open for funny business so the White House Harlequins could start painting the war on terror in yahoo colors for a generation. The war was only a few days old after 9/11 and Bush already declared it would last for 30 years of more. How did he know that?

The Neo-Cons got their Effrayeur the Clown with bin Laden set loose into Pakistan.

I mean, history will show that there were a number of real dolts running the country during the Bush era performing the French medieval pantomime even Nostradamus might have suggested by using effrayeur playing the clown that goes “boo!” Usama the Clown wasn’t a big enough boogie Effrayeur. Let’s shock and awe Saddam Hussein who had nothing to do with 9/11 terror attacks but was sitting on the second largest oil reserve in the Middle East.

Oops! “Honk, honk.” They strung that clown up and someone else got the lucrative oil drilling deals, how silly. That’s a Bozo no-no.

Back to bogey man #1: bin Laden. And I just don’t know “Jack” about when that al-Qaeda clown boxed in Pakistan will pop out again. “Hoot! Hoot!” So color my alerts!

It seems the Effrayeur clown the Neo-Cons sustained in performance the longest was Bonzo-Bush the Clown. Scare the kiddies for fun you rascally effrayeur, you! A collage of fear mongering clown colors punctuated the presidential election year of 2004. Day glow “yellow” and orange “orange” alerts flashed like a jester’s nose whenever the president’s poll numbers dipped and presidential candidate Kerry the Clown’s numbers rose faster than a swift boat winched out of a South Vietnamese bog. The buffoon in the White House overdid his overblown and “ill” Pagliacci posturing with red bulbous nose-Fox-flashing network fear alarms. Even the lefty Cable Clown News Network (CNN) with Blitzer the Clown enabled a White House scare prank.

It was this successful three-ring circus of two three-lettered cable news networks flashing alerts on the public that in part kept the Dumbopublican Neo-Con regime in office. It would take another lost August vacate-tion at Crawford Texas convened the following year to break the spell over the land cast by Bush-the-wagin’-War-on-Terror Clown when yellow and orange alerts all came up Brown. Michael D. Brown to be exact. He was that horse-race organizer-turned-FEMA director who butterfingered the errant of mercy to New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina in the autumn of 2005.

Honk! Honk! “Brownie, you’re doing a heck of a job!” Honk!

(Oh! Go sit on that whoopee cushion, Mr. President.)

There are a number of modern-day “terrorizer clowns” who it just so happens find their names easily decoded in Nostradamus’ anagram for the name of his third and final Antichrist: Mabus. All the candidates are entwined in a showdown in the Middle East as opposing combatants.

A number of Usama bin Laden’s terrorist nicknames and handles letter crunch into Mabus. The most obvious of which is the correct phonetic spelling of his first name:

Usama = maaus

Drop the redundant “a” with the one letter allowed as replacement in Nostradamus’ rules of anagramming with the missing letter “b” and you get:

Usama = ma(a)us = Mabus

Now to the next clown in this war of terrible Bozos:

Take the “m” and “a” of Mabus. Turn them upside down to get “w” “g”. Switch these letters around to get “g” “w”. That leaves you “bus” for “Mabus”. Add the missing “h” and pop goes the weasel.

That leads us finally to the clown that sent more US troops into Afghanistan to fight the Taliban, who never attacked his country or held aspirations to do so. This clown-in-chief is an ally of the Pakistani regime that protects and harbors the al-Qaeda Punch and Judys who did attack America. This new American clown-in-chief will not directly attack al-Qaeda in Pakistan while Pakistan makes a useless show of engaging them with one hand and with the other hand gives money and support to the Taliban to fight Americans in Afghanistan who never attacked America.

Does this sound like a new low in US Bozo-diplomacy to you?

The only great new city I could find built anno Domini Nostradamus at or near latitude 45 was new (Your) city. Back in 1983, I believed these quatrains described a nuclear attack, possible committed by terrorists rather than a thermonuclear exchange of US and Soviet missiles. I thought these highest towers of the World Trade Centery might be the same hollow mountains in his vision blown down to sulfur poisoned waters and ashes of a nuclear terrorist blast. A prophet alive in the time when the towers of man loomed no higher than the nearest town cathedral would marvel at the twin mountain-like skyscrapers climbing higher than all surrounding edifices in a vault of 110 acre-sized floors to a mountainous roof top perch at 1,368 feet, in the case of the South Tower. The huge antenna spire rising above the North Tower roof increased its ascent to 1,727 feet.

If this was about an attack on New York, I wrote in 1983, the final line of 6 Q97 made it clear the future countrymen of Nostradamus had seen it coming, tried to warn the US, and, while American contacts sought verification the attack came in, too late to prevent.

When I visited New York in 1994 I had dinner with the late author and parapsychologist Hans Holzer… [The previous year saw Islamic terrorist fail bring down the towers with a truck bomb.]

Holzer asked if he and his friends should leave New York, to which I answered, “No, but stay away from the Battery District [the southernmost tip of Manhattan Island where the World Trade Center looms]. Never go there. Ever. It is doomed.”

This message passed out of my mouth from a mysterious place within in a cool and deeper voice than I usually use. It was a warning as much for my attention as for his. I recall saying to Hans that the next time the terrorists attack the towers would definitely fall.

“When?”

I recall telling him about the King of Terror prophecy, which I believed set the time of attack around July 1999, but it could be a little later — “2001 at the latest,” I added.

There’s no tape of our wine warmed conversation that night so this is the best my memory can recall. It echoes what I wrote the following year (1995) appearing in my examination of all of Nostradamus’ major prophecies in Nostradamus: The Complete Prophecies, later published in 1997:

• As suggested in 10 Q72, the terror of the Middle Eastern Antichrist comes from the skies (the heavens). Therefore this could mean that nuclear fires from the skies (from 10 Q72) will descend on the Western democratic powers, as early as July of 1999. (Commenting on 1 Q56, p. 114)

• In these quatrains Nostradamus may be hiding a warning of a future plague of world terrorism — mainly based in North Africa and the Middle East. The worst scenario, a handful of terrorist-sanctioning nations dragging the world into nuclear war as early as 1999…The Antichrist gets his support from Babel, an ancient name for modern Iraq. (2 Q30, pp.178-179)

• Nostradamus’ Third Antichrist has yet to be positively identified…What does come through clearly is the fact that this third and final Antichrist is not a prominent European leader…The man we know as Mabus may be some obscure future terrorist who, if he is not identified and restrained in time, will trigger World War III and the extinction of civilization as we have known it (2 Q62, p. 201).

• New York, the Vatican, or some other city is burned from the sky by the atmospheric explosion of a nuclear missile, or by the detonation of a terrorist atom bomb concealed in a hijacked airliner. In the mid-1990s Algerian terrorists hijacked a jet airliner, and had they not been overwhelmed by security forces while refueling at Marseilles, they would have continued on to Paris and detonated the jet’s 15 tons of air fuel in a huge fireball a few hundred feet over the center of the city. (2 Q81, p.215)

• The sky ignites into flames on the latitude near New York City. (p. 497).

• The next important transit of these planets in a fire sign was Mars in Sagittarius and Saturn in Aries in October 1997. During that year the comet Hale-Bopp will be in our skies. If armed conflict breaks out it will come as a reflection of the darker aspect of Sagittarius. Wars or terrorist raids inspired by, or reacting against, religious bigotry and a fanatic adherence to dogma and fundamentalism, would not be a surprise. (4 Q67, p. 350)

• By 1999, this terrorist from the land of “Baal” might wage war on Israel or its Western allies from the sky, either with a nuclear missile or a jet, which is loaded with plutonium dust, or chemical weapons that are detonated over a city. (10 Q72, p. 798)

• If 1999 passes without an Antichrist [attack], rather than easing our awareness we should sharpen it and use this reprieve from Armageddon to make the right decision today to forestall Armageddon in the 21st century. (Epistle, p. 616)

• Nostradamus foresaw the coming of three tyrants whom he called Antichrist. These men, he warned, could move mankind towards total world destruction sometime shortly after the year 2000. (1 Q60, p. 116)

• Other astrological prophecies point to the early years of the new century as a prime window for a climactic showdown with Islamic terrorists. (2Q2, p. 154)

The two-quatrain prophecy about a new city and hollow mountains illuminates my inner mind’s picture frame. First the lines of 6 Q97:

At forty-five degrees latitude, the sky will burn…

Latitude calculations in Nostradamus’ time were somewhat inaccurate. The only great and new city built after he lived was New York City at a latitude just less than 41 degrees. When the fireball and smoke cleared around the North Tower, the world could see what the instantly obliterated Muhammad Atta piloting hijacked American Airlines Flight 11 at 466 miles per hour had done. There was a gaping hole in the north face of the tower in the jagged, headlong outline of wings and fuselage of a Boeing 757 airliner implanted at a 45-degree angle.

…Fire approaches the great new city…

The afterburners blazed behind two hijacked Boeing 757 and 767 airliners, American Airlines Flight 11 at 466 miles per hour and United Airlines Flight 175 at 545 miles per hour, rapidly approaching New York.

…Immediately a huge, scattered flame leaps up…

The fireballs issuing from both jets hurled into the towers were larger than the town in which Nostradamus lived and wrote this prophecy, Salon-en-Provence.

…When they want verification from the Normans [the French].

Back in 1983, I said this quatrain could only stand for a future nuclear or terrorist attack on New York City if Frenchmen warned Americans it was coming. A number of French newspapers, including Le Figaro, reported that on 10 September, French intelligence officers desperately tried to contact their opposites in the US Pentagon and CIA. French intelligence networks had a spike in email and phone traffic indicating an attack was imminent, either targeting the US Embassy in Paris or a shot at the United States homeland, by operatives of the terrorist organization known as al-Qaeda (Arabic for The Front).

On the following morning, 11 September, Pentagon staffers were trying to verify the claims when a Boeing 767 (American Airlines Flight 77) swooping in at grass-top level at 530 miles per hour drilled the western façade of the Pentagon building penetrating 310 feet through three office rings in eight-tenths of a second.

Now the lines of 10 Q49 pick up the prophecy:

Garden of the world near the new city…

You could decode this to read: Garden State (the motto of New Jersey) of the world (Trade Center) near the new (York) city.

…In the path of the hollow mountains…

They are the two towers. The second jet on its terminal approach of the South Tower flew directly over the underwater tunnel that guides the PATH Subway system to the World Trade Center from New Jersey.

…It will be seized and plunged into a boiling cauldron…

It, is the jet, or by extension, the two towers collapsing into the boiling cauldron of their own lunar-death colored fire and debris clouds to sit as smoldering rubble for months on end inside what architects and builders had coined “the tub” – an eight-story deep rectangular basement built watertight to keep out the Hudson River from flooding the subway systems of New York. The word Nostradamus used, cuue — spelled cuve in modern French — means cauldron or simply tub.

…Drinking by force the waters poisoned by sulfur.

This is where Nostradamus documented one of his alternative future time lines that fortunately did not incline towards the tub breaking and flooding the subway system. If it had, many tens of thousands of New Yorkers might have drowned in the poisoned debris filled floods. Rather than 30,000, the number sacrificed to a candidate who could be Third Antichrist was only a little over 3,000 people.

From the sky will come a great King of Terror…

Effrayeur is a dreadful word.

In French it means: to frighten, to alarm, to terrify. It lunges from the Latin formido: dread, terror. It is sudden, throat grabbing fright, unexpected and disturbing to the core. It soars on the wings of an airline jet roaring through soft blue autumnal skies over the narrow valley streets and manmade canyons of New York -- an outrage of noise that guides one to look upwards and see its source devoured by the North Tower of the World Trade Center. Violence! Instantly rejected in the vomit of hot acid fuel spittle, fireballs, thunder and the after note of human shock and horror declared in ten thousand expletives of disbelief from those who witnessed it.

Effrayeur is Lord of the Skies the moment perception is raped by accident becoming terrible intent. It comes casting its lengthening swift shadow over towns and valleys of the Garden State, soaring across green waters of the Hudson, accelerating.

The Lord of Terror comes down from the skies, heralded by ovations of disbelief as now millions of New Yorkers and hundreds of millions of people around the world, in tight lipped or gaping horror before television screens, beat bewildered and unbelieving hearts. Terror charges in, turning slowly on the wings of infamy, engines screaming at full thrust to perform a macabre disappearance into the South Tower of the World Trade Center as if solid steel and glass were a vertical surface of water and a 767 Boeing passenger jet was an Olympic diver entering that surface in a perfect dive with nary a splash. In an instant the perversion of physics is erased by fireballs and the disbelieving screams of millions, in public, standing upon balconies and streets around New York, or viewed on televisions in private homes, bars, restaurants, TV shops and offices. In that moment of outrage and alarm, terror, set free of hijacked planes, seized hearts in public and private places across half the planet as all in that moment understood these planes crashing into buildings were no accident but a brazen attack on the United States.

The first leg of following effrayeur-linking words to other quatrains brings us before Nostradamus' most famous dated prophecy:

In the year 1999 seven months,
From the sky will come a great King of Terror.
Bringing back the Khan of the Mongols.
Before, after: Mars (i.e. Magus-Mabus) rules happily.

Specific dates are rare in Nostradamus but often accurate. This is the most specific he would ever write for our times. That makes it the most important to understand, to crack its code if there is one. It intends to mark a protean shift in human history proceeding from an act of terror coming from the sky. The King of Terror will bring back Genghis Khan, the King (Khan) of the Mongols. This is a metaphor used to frame something in the time of 1999 or thereabouts to a historical trauma still haunting the memory of 16th-century Europeans. Irresistible Mongol hordes had galloped out of Asia three centuries before Nostradamus wrote this prophecy. No European army of knights or siege walls could check them. The Mongols would have overrun Europe altogether had it not been for the opportune death of Genghis Khan's heir, Ögedei Khan (d.1241), compelling them to turn their bridles eastward towards Mongolia to parlay for a successor. Nostradamus uses a metaphor of "yellow peril" brought back to challenge the West in 1999. What connection this danger has to the King of Terror lies obscure.

Nostradamus ends the prophecy with one last riddle. Mars is symbolic of war thriving happily. The higher aspect of Mars, however, is the Magus – the enlightened master and forger of new consciousness, new enterprises and explorations. Nostradamus may be using this noble title in a negative context, or to obscure allies and perpetrators of the King of Terror.

Let's delve into more classical allusions.

The term Magus was originally applied to high priests of ancient Persia; are we thereby to consider this a classical allusion to the modern Islamic Republic of Iran "ruling happily" through wars of the Third Antichrist? If we are, then the renascent Mongol king is a current Iranian ally, a new "Khan" among totalitarian rulers of the awakening capitalist-communist hybrid superpower, The People's Republic of China.

Then there's the anagram tie-in to the Mabus quatrains. Take the g of Magus, turn it over and you have b for Mabus.

A deeper classical understanding of Baal Hammon-Thurbo Majus connects it to the "King of Terror" descending from the skies. The Carthaginians and Phoenicians worshipped an all-powerful "Baal" or "Lord" God. The extent of Baal worship stretched from North Africa across lands currently called Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Israel, Syria and Iraq. Each region gave him a personalized name. What Nostradamus in 2 Q30 called the infernal god of Hannibal, Baal Hammon, was Lord patron deity of Carthage. When angered, Baal – any Baal – would retaliate bringing down storm and thunder as a "Lord of Terror coming from the skies." The conduit of biblical and classical meaning has Baal Hammon, then, under the Romanized name Thurbo Majus, hiding Nostradamus' Mabus as the King of Terror descending from the sky, resurrecting Mongol power in the emergent superpower China, allied to an emergent regional Middle Eastern superpower, Iran – China's primary source of crude oil.

Twentieth-century America had its national fits of “red” Bolshevik scares. The worst promoted in the late 1940s early 1950s by US Senator Joseph McCarthy’s inspired witch hunt under the congressional auspices freely effected mostly by innuendo a pogrom against communists in the Hollywood movie and television industry. The Soviet Union in the 1960s fell sway to a red scare in yellow peril when Russian Marxists differed with Mao and Red China’s Confucian model. The Soviet scare was a collectively Russian throwback to the 1300′s when Mongol Hordes conquered and subjugated European Russia for centuries. The new “yellow peril” had become Mao Zedong’s Red China with newly acquired atomic bombs in 1964. Border clashes on the Chinese-East Siberian Soviet frontiers nearly lead to all-out nuclear war in 1969.

From Red to Islamic scares, we in the West know the jihadist jitters well but nothing like in Nostradamus’ day. I believe the great 16th-century prophet from Provence suffered at times from seeing his world through a conditioned socio-political and religious filter of fear of an Islamic peril. Like all collectivized scares, red, yellow or Islamic, they are founded on some fact. Communism made it clear it wanted to spread all over the world and take down the capitalist imperial countries and their middle-class bourgeoisie. Russia, ever successful in overthrowing invasions from the West always easily fell to invasions from the East. The rise of a nuclear, belligerent and massively populated red giant in the East frightened the Politburo in Moscow. Scenarios for preemptive, unilateral nuclear war with the People’s Republic of China in the late-1960s were seriously considered. The odds were 2 to 1 that it could happen. Jeane Dixon foresaw it. Richard Nixon (a secret client) prevented it in the early 1970s with his brilliant gamble of trilateral diplomacy.

Nostradamus in the mid-16th century lived in a Christian Europe seriously divided by the Protestant Reformation at a time when the Islamic Ottoman Empire was at its peak of power. Sultan Suleiman the Magnificent was Islam’s Alexander the Great, gobbling up Mediterranean outposts of Christendom and Christian kingdoms in Eastern Europe. More than once he threatened to sack Vienna, capital of the Holy Roman Empire, with his vast armies. The coast of Nostradamus’ native Provence was frequently raided by the 16th-century terrorists of his day. Rather than hijack planes and set off truck bombs, these Barbary Corsairs hijacked Christian ships and sacked coastal towns in South France.

It was enough to make Nostradamus fall into fits of prophetic hyperbole about Muslims conquering Europe no less ginned up than McCarthy’s prophecies of imminent communist takeover of Hollywood and the world, or the Soviet Politburo’s forecast of Red turning pale yellow perilous if Mao’s China kept going against the Marxist-Leninist path.

Nothing masks a prophetic bias better in a prophet then an accurate vision of threat in the future. For example, the vision of Century 1 Quatrain 56 had elements that were definitely fulfilled:

Vous verrez tost & tard faire grand change,
Horreurs extremes & vindications:
Que si la lune conduicte par son ange,
Le Ciel s’approche des inclinations.

You will see, sooner and later, great changes made,
Extreme horrors and vengeances:
For as the moon (of Islam) is thus led by its angel,
The heavens draw near to the reckoning.

Gabreel (Gabriel) is the avenging angel of the Christian and the Islamic Apocalypse. Nostradamus often uses the scales of Justice as a symbol for democracy. In this verse, the French inclinations can mean reckoning and balance as in Justice’s scales.

Another reoccurring theme is terror coming out of the heavens. In my book on Mabus, I wrote a whole chapter explaining how Nostradamus’ famous “1999″ prophecy (10 Q72) could describe the terror of the Middle Eastern Antichrist coming from the skies (the heavens). I have wrestled as far back as the mid-1980s in articles with a theme. Back in 1995, I proposed in Nostradamus: The Complete Prophecies (published in 1997) that the Great king of terror from the skies (10 Q72) would descend on the Western democratic powers, as early as July of 1999 or no later than 2001.

The quatrain indexing may target the year 1956, which witnessed the first successful victory of Pan-Arab Nationalism against the West during the Suez Canal incident, when Egyptian President Gamal Abdel Nasser nationalized the Suez Canal and forced French and British forces to withdraw.

The West waging a struggle with Muslim jihadist is an accurate prediction but there are other quatrains where Nostradamus may have misread his visions because of his own primal fear of militant Islam colored in the real threats to Christendom of his own times.

For example, we have 1 Q71:

La tour marine trois fois prise & reprise,
Par Hespagnols, Barbares, Ligurins:
Marseille & Aix, Arles par ceux de Pise,
Vast, feu, fer, pillé Auignon des Thurins.

The marine tower three times seized and recaptured,
By Spaniards, Barbary raiders, and Ligurians:
Marseilles and Aix, Arles by those of Pisa,
Devastation, fire, steel, Avignon pillaged by the Turinese.

I wrote the following interpretation for Nostradamus the Complete Prophecies:

Prophetic bias may have caused Nostradamus to interpret Allied Landings on the French Riviera in August 1944 as a future Islamic invasion.

“The prophet saw Spain and Genoa, allied with the Turks and Barbary Corsairs, embarked on an expedition against Provence. I don’t doubt he peered through the mists and shadows of his vapor-beclouded bowl of water and saw ships invading the Riviera, or Italian troops plundering Avignon. But at what time? I think Nostradamus would sometimes misread the images when coming out of a trance. The process of moving from a subjective experience to objective writing made it easy for his mind to cloak what he experienced in more familiar garb. He probably saw an invasion of southern France but projected Muslims, Genovese, and Spaniards onto a vision that more adequately describes Provence during its occupation by the Axis and during the Allied landings of World War II. The Italians pillaging Avignon were not Turinese mercenaries but Mussolini’s Italians, who marched through Avignon, Aix, and Arles in November of 1942 to assist German troops in occupying Vichy-controlled southern France. For the next year the Italians occupied the French Alpine regions as far west as the Rhône River and as far south as Avignon. Later, in August 1944, the Allied invasion fleet did set sail from bases in Italy. One could say by synecdoche that they are those of Pisa. Marseilles in particular, Aix, and Arles endured vicious street fighting or devastation, fire and steel, during the Allied invasion.”

This accurate prophecy may suffer from Nostradamus Islamophobia.

Keep the above preamble in mind while I share an interchange I had with “Laura” on Islamic perils and Caucasian population declines back on 30 April 2009.

Just watched a YOU TUBE video about the decline of western culture because of very low birth rates.

HOGUE
You mean, the birthrates of Caucasians in Europe.

LAURA
According to this, Western Europe, Britain, Canada and the US are already past the point of no return…

HOGUE
Caucasians, yes, but America expects to replenish its population with new immigration. It will certainly change the nature of Western Culture. Indeed the world is changing from national-oriented and regional cultures towards a global culture. The spread of immigrants is the key.

LAURA
And that, with the much higher rate of Muslim births, Muslims will dominate the populations of those places in around 2050. What does Hogue see?

HOGUE
Nostradamus kept talking about an invasion of Europe by a Muslim horde. I think he misread his prophecies and mistook the appearance of Muslims and Mosques in future cities of France as some post-occupation vision.

What you say is not going to happen to America, but has some prophetic merit about Europe. The question to ask is, what will be the nature of the new Muslim communities in Europe? Will they assimilate more completely than they do now? Will the times be different and less bitten by the bug of religious extremism in the future?

It may very well be that in 36 years, when oil is no longer the chief fuel source of the global civilization, the Middle East economies will completely collapse from the strain of population, loss of oil revenues, and the drying out of the water tables from global warming. A huge host of refugees could bear down on Europe. Not an army but an army of refugees looking for work, water and food. This is a future possibility Nostradamus may have misread because he could not see beyond his contemporary fears of the rising tide of Muslim hegemony in the Mediterranean during his lifetime.

There are other potential future destinies which once engaged will depopulate the world to such an extent that this discussion about demographic hegemony of one culture/race over another has no future.

I see coming a future reformation of the Muslim religious creed after the Ummah (community of believers) passes through what the Christian community passed through back in the 16th and 17th centuries — an era of religious civil wars. The Muslim world could avoid this tendency, if lessons are learned from the mistakes of Christians.

I foresee a far more Sufi-like and tolerant Islam 50 years hence, once the fire of intolerant fundamentalism flames out as it always does in the life cycles of religions.

“Expect that al-Qaeda will try to do in Obama’s first year in office what they succeeded in doing in Bush’s: an attack on the US homeland… When is the attack coming? Al-Qaeda speaks the language of doomsday-jihad in Arabic numbers.

“In a broader sense of time windows, watch for future dates using 7, 9 or 11.”

Predictions for 2009, Chapter 9: Will al-Qaeda Attack America?

Assessment (29 December 2009)
My oracle had warned on radio appearances and in my blogs that the final months of the year 2009 were the more likely time windows for an attack. We had not one but two terrorist attacks using al-Qaeda’s new low tech, “lone wolf” strategy I had also foreseen in Predictions for 2009. Muslim American Major Hasan converted to an extremist view of his faith aided by contacts via email with an al-Qaeda linked cleric in Yemen. On 5 November 2009, he shot and killed 13 and wounded over 30 service men and women in Fort Hood, Texas, preparing for deployment to Afghanistan.

Umar Farouk AbdulMutallab, the Nigerian Christmas Day bomber got his marching orders also from Yemen. He was trained in the use of concealed materials in his undies to make a bomb that if the fuse had worked could have easily blown a whole through the Airbus 330-300 fuselage. I believe he chose his window seat, A 19, placed over the port wing fuel tanks to best deliver a blast puncturing them with intent to plunge a freefalling fireballing airliner down into the Detroit suburbs.

I have been writing frequently for years to beware of al-Qaeda hijacking holidays like Christmas. Fortunately, this first attempt to turn Christmas into a date of infamy failed. Notice the numbers. The 25th day of December equals 7. There is the 9 for 2009. Nine plus 7 equals 16. And 1 plus 6 equals 7. The jet was on approach for landing in Detroit on Christmas Day, 25 December. It was already the 26th in Yemen, where AbdulMutallab’s commanders trained him in blowing up his shorts. They would mark D-Day for 12/26/09 on al-Qaeda time, if you will. Add the digits for 12 and you get 3. Add the digits of 26 and you get 8. Three plus 8 makes 11. The year is 09. That’s 11/09: the reverse of 9/11.

In my new almanac of prophecies for the coming year Predictions for 2010, I cover future events starting from 2 November 2009 to the end of 2010. My oracle pinpointed Yemen as the next hot bed base for al-Qaeda operations:

“Al-Qaeda has had bases in Somalia for years. Yemen is also a hot bed of Usama bin Laden jihadists. Indeed, it may soon collapse into his grasp in 2010, giving him a new home if and when the Pakistani Army successfully occupies Waziristan.”

Here is the passage from my e-Book Predictions for 2009 published on 24 January 2009:

In a more specific time window for 2009, look for something happening on the 11th month, November: 11/9 = 9/11…

What I forecast in April 2008 about al-Qaeda playing terror by the numbers can stand for 2009: “I predict the next terrorist attack on the US homeland will be small compared to greater danger for democracy coming from the reaction. The death of hundreds in a subway, train or bus blast, or volleys of shots fired by an al-Qaeda sniper in a shopping mall could be deployed by dark elements in the US government to suppress the American dream of a free society. A smaller event than September 11 2001 will be hyped out of proportion by those elements using Hitlerian tried-and-tested tools of intimidating and disempowering a democratic citizenry with over sold and sensationalized – even outright false flagging – terrorist attacks. Reichstag-fan your fires of terrorism.

“Oh but not Obama!” I hear many of you saying. The false flagging conspiracy dies with the Bush presidency, right?

Be ever vigilant of your leaders, be they good or mediocre human beings. Especially be aware not to become swept up in the mass psychosis of mass-unmindful-think. Where Neo-Conservative extremists might have allowed 9/11 in 2001 to happen and be rewarded with sweeping emergency powers, remember, the legacy of those powers, and the Patriot Act itself, remain tools for the next president. Even able and reasonable men are tempted by the powers surrendered mindlessly to them by previous presidents to misuse them if the rational is noble enough and if the evil is deemed necessary to justify the end, such as a “temporary“ emergency rescinding of US democratic freedoms to track down terrorists at large in the homeland. Iagos lusting for power can even convince a noble Obama Othello to do the wrong thing and believe it right.

ASSESSMENT
One shooter was involved at the Fort Hood attack that killed 12 and wounded 31. Two are in custody under question. The third is dead. He is a mental health officer, Major Malik Nidal Hasan. Whether he is an Arab or a man converting to Islam, I do not know. Nevertheless, mental cases playing the Lee Harvey “Hasan” Oswald approach to terrorist strategy has concerned me.

The lone terrorist or a handful of American nutcases catching the insanity of al-Qaeda’s violent philosophy need no marching orders from Usama bin Laden. Signals coming from terrorist leaders in 2009 have invited such people, citizens of any nation they deem an evil “Crusader” fighting Muslims or occupying Muslim lands to contribute their small portion of mayhem with hand gun, club, knife or home made explosives for the cause international terrorism.

There could be more coming. 11/5 is one day in a month of days that could see more attacks. Al-Qaeda plays terror by the numbers. We may still see a reverse 9/11 event involving shootings in the land on 11/9. Here’s the full paragraph of my November terrorist prediction from Predictions for 2009 about the numbers playing out as attack dates:

I would add that any day in November of the year 2009 may factor in as a date for terrorist attack because November 2009 can also be counted a 11/09 or 11/9, the reverse of 9/11.

PS—I added the passage about tempations to abuse power or heed dark council. I do not see Obama abusing this power and I hope that the terrible tragedy at Fort Hood today is the only terror attack I’ll be talking about this November. The caveat to Obama is delivered here because if a plague of these lone wolves terror attacks are coming, there are indeed forces in the government looking for reasons and might prepare compelling arguments persuading this young and inexperienced president for the right reasons to suspend freedoms of the public for a wrong end.

My prayers go out to the fallen and their families, including the poor sick man undergoing an ethical and spiritual crisis who lost his mind and fired his guns. My prayers also go out to the Muslim American community, for I fear they will be judged unfairly by other unbalanced people because of Major Hasan’s terrible act.

When we, and the controversy of Nostradamus, entered a new millennium, many interpreters and dilettantes of Nostradamus mistakenly believed his prophecies foretold the end of the world–a strangely popular but patently unqualified myth, since Nostradamus had dated the end of the world 1,797 years ahead in the year 3797. Nevertheless, a peaceful turning of New Year’s Day 2000 exposed Nostradamus in the minds of many believers and skeptics as a prophetic failure and charlatan. Then on 11 September 2001, the debate about this man and myth came back before global scrutiny. No sooner had the twin towers of the World Trade Center collapsed into billowing, apocalyptic clouds of debris, than Reuters News Agency broadcast across the planet a prophecy attributed to Nostradamus about “hollow mountains” falling in the “City of York.” The lines of the purported prophecy–much like what we know about the man Nostradamus–were a blend of myth and fact. Fake lines like “the city of York” drew people in, yet these were sewn together with stolen lines of two actual Nostradamus prophecies–the same prophecies that for decades many interpreters, including this author, believed forecast a future nuclear or terrorist attack on New York’s lower Manhattan financial district.

A prophetic hoax about an attack on the “City of York” rode on the back of these real quatrain (four-line) prophecies about what many believe is an attack on New York:

At forty-five degrees latitude, the sky will burn,
Fire approaches the great new city.
Immediately a huge, scattered flame leaps up,
When they want verification from the Normans [the French].

Garden of the world near the new city,
In the path of the hollow mountains:
It will be seized and plunged into a boiling cauldron,
Drinking by force the waters poisoned by sulfur.

When you have two prescient-sounding yet general provocations that include images like “fire approaching” a “new city” at “forty-five degrees latitude” in the “path” of “hollow mountains” near a “garden of the word,” the hackles can rise–especially if you apply present-day facts to conveniently join together the dots of a 450-year-old prophetic rant to see what you want to see. Does one brush it all off as a coincidence that the city of “new” York is near latitude 45 degrees, or that the first Boeing 757 hijacked by terrorists cut into the North Tower of the World Trade Center in “a huge, scattered flame” at a 45-degree angle? Is it just the law of chance fooling a prophetically sympathetic mind when the second hijacked airliner passed over New Jersey (also known as the “Garden” state) and swerved at high speed toward the South Tower of the “world” Trade center building exactly over the “Path” subway tunnel before slamming into the second man-made peak of “hollow mountains”? And when Nostradamus describes his vision of “hollow mountains” being “seized and plunged” into a “boiling cauldron,” are we conned yet again by a new generation of sycophants tagging events of their time on to cryptic ravings; or is it more than a coincidence that each tower as it fell looked as if it were seized by the hand of an invisible force and plunged into the boiling cauldron of its own debris cloud? Are the “Normans” some retroactive allusion to the people of Normandy, or is this, as Nostradamian scholars believe, a code name for the French, whose intelligence agents on 10 September were indeed frantically warning their opposites in Washington D.C. that a terrorist attack on America was imminent?

Do we have a 16th-century charlatan catching us in our projections when the multiple meanings of Renaissance French can satisfy what we want to see? The word Nostradamus uses for “cauldron” is cuue (spelled cuve in Modern French). It can mean a number of things beyond “cauldron” such as “tank” or “tub.” Is the skeptic right when he brushes off any application of this word to the fall of the twin towers? Is the skeptic right to suggest waggishly that we might as well say Nostradamus is predicting some future disaster in a jacuzzi; or, is it not a little disturbing to one’s flippant reason to discover that the World Trade Center was built on a huge, rectangular cement box of watertight floor and walls known as “the tub”?

Nostradamus and a Future Nuclear War
Lost by a Country symbolized by “Three Lions”

Friends,
Flames vomited orange clouds billowing like ghosts of Hari Krishna swamis released from the funerary pyre that had become the southwestern roof of Mumbai’s Hotel Taj Mahal, on Midnight, 27 November. A floodlight illuminated the delicate Maratha-style cupola atop the great tiled dome. The scotoma glare transported me to scry shapes of statuary out of overexposed hoary white floodlit pillars. The pillars had morphed into the statues of lions that at any moment could collapse in the suttee of terrorist lit firestorms. The smoke and flame threatening dome and cupola was the end result of jihadists running amok through the hotel halls, setting off gasoline bombs with grenades, pounding on hotel room doors searching for Western hostages, among them my friends. These jihadists played a deadly game of hide and “seeking” death and seventy-seven virgins in “Osama-bin-lying” paradise.

Above the curtain of fire smoke feeding a lungi veil of orange night skies, and bathed in floodlight, the pillars had become in my inner eye the white stone gathering of lions in tight circle atop the dome. These animal totems of the modern Indian State, stood on haunches at rest, in my reverie, forepaws straight, defiantly mute as if unmoved by the gunshots and explosions. Heraldry in stone looked down “en passant” at hunkering members of the world press agencies of TV networks, giving their sing-songy, fire and smoke singed South Asian accented reports, somewhat breathless with fear yet literate. The cadence of their account often interrupted by echoes of bullet ricochets on the stone expanses at their feet, or drowned out when the flash and thunder sticks of Indian Army sniper rifles atop the nearby Gates of India Monument tore the air overhead.

The vision lions in white lights above the fray reminded me of Nostradamus’ prophecy about India basing its animal totem of three lions on that of their British colonial masters. I introduced my readers to this interpretation in writings published 12 years ago, and retuned to the concept in my Mahatma Gandhi’s Prophecy bulletin of 31 December 2001.

Indian scholars wished to remind me each time I published the following interpretation that there are “four” lions in their animal totem tableau; however, as the picture above shows, one’s point of view only sees three lions at a time. A vision, be it mine or Nostradamus’ would see the same.

The following quatrain from Century 7 of Nostradamus’ prophecies was written in 1556 and could hint what Gandhi’s final Indo-Pakistani war in his prophecy might look like:

The prophet Nostradamus may have foreseen its outcome in Century 7 Quatrain 16. If the leaders of India and Pakistan could read this following warning, perhaps they would pause and reflect before they pass over the Line of Control, and send history out of control.

Entree profonde par la grand Royne faicte
Rendra le lieu puissant inaccessible:
L’armee des troys lyons sera deffaite,
Faisant dedans cas hideux & terrible.

The deep entry made by the great queen
Will render the place powerful and inaccessible:
The army of the three lions will be defeated,
Causing within a hideous and terrible event.

In 1996 I wrote the following interpretation for this quatrain in Nostradamus: The Complete Prophecies:

“In 1985, Indira Gandhi, the Prime Minister of India, was gunned down by Sikh separatists who had infiltrated her bodyguards. The murder was in retaliation for her ordering the Indian Army’s bloody attack of Khalistani guerrillas holding out within the holiest shrine of the Sikhs, the Golden Temple in Amritsar. The ‘great queen’ could be Mrs. Gandhi or her granddaughter, Priyanka, who is being groomed for power by the Congress Party. The army of ‘three lions’ is the Indian Army, (the Republic of India has ‘three lions’ huddled together in its federal device). If Nostradamus is not alluding to this incident, perhaps, he is implying some future defeat of a descendant of Gandhi in a war over Jammu-Kashmir and the Punjab. The final line could describe a breakdown of Indian society in the wake of sectarian violence after the defeat. Or perhaps ‘within’ something worse. Maybe our prophet is warning of a plague from ‘within,’ in other words, a radiation scourge caused by a nuclear disaster at the atomic plant near Mumbai (Bombay), or from a nuclear bush war with Pakistan sometime between 1996 to 2026.”

On the Winter Solstice, and exactly 4 years before the most accurate prophecy ancient clock, the “Long Count” of the Mayan Calender, runs out of time — to what apocalyptic end, either of doom or revelation, is not certain — the Trident-Oberoi and Taj Mahal hotels in Mumbai reopened for business. The dead terrorists and their victims have been buried or burned on pyres, the blood in the halls of hotels washed clean. The fa??üade of normalcy in traumatized Mumbai hides the seething passion for revenge and a reckonning with Pakistan. The cool Indian winter months might suppress these nationalist passions, but come mid-February, when the subtropical heat rises, what will come as a consequence of the following issues laid before the government of Pakistan by that of India on the Winter Solstice?

The surviving terrorist prisoner is using the last weapon left to him well. His tongue spits out rapid-fire evidence of extensive rogue Pakistani involvement in the training of his person with tacit support of some Pakistani military and government elements. He and his squad of attackers are a handful of hundreds of other terrorists, trained in camps in Pakistan, poised for future attacks on Westerners in India and even the West. As Mumbai hotels celebrated their opening in defiance of that terror, New Delhi demands its opposites in Islamabad do something, and soon, to control its militant proxies and militants operating inside Pakistan.

Islamabad, so far, has done nothing.

When the air starts getting hot and sultry in the sub-continent, and if Pakistan remains recalcitrant about its own home grown terror camps, India’s air force and paratroopers may lay fire upon them, before flame trees and jacaranda’s of the hot season bloom.

We will be on the brink of an Indo-Pakistani military confrontation when punitive attack happens. Part Six will show just how much a confrontation of the near future in 2009 may look more like a crisis from the near past back in 2001-2002.

Of Gandhi’s Fourth and Nuclear War?

Friends,
The crisis begins. One that could overshadow all others coming in the New Year of 2009.

Today (26 December 2008), Associated press reports Pakistani troops are heading for the border with India. The 20,000 men of the 14th Infantry Division have moved to forward positions between the towns of Kasur and Sialkot along the disputed militarized border frontier dividing Kashmir known as the Line of Control. Intelligence reports describe large Pakistani units previously fighting al-Qaeda and Taliban terrorists are pulling out of West Pakistani tribal regions heading east in preparation to man the Indo-Pakistani line. Two strategic goals of the Mumbai terrorist attacks have been fulfilled: 1.) Renew a crisis between India and Pakistan; and, 2.) Relieve the military pressure brought to bear on al-Qaeda and Taliban centers of operation in Western Pakistan along the border of Afghanistan.

Usama bin Laden, one of Nostradamus’ chief candidates for what he calls Mabus, the Third Antichrist, is the dean of global jihadist terrorism. He has trained those who trained Pakistani terrorist commandos who inflicted death and chaos in the heart of Mumbai’s financial district in November. Though he does not, indeed needs not, directly overlord or even plan these attacks, he is responsible for the evil vision and training of those who do.

A great destruction of people and animals, as Nostradamus predicted may be Usama bin Laden’s intent. It will include the martyrdom of Pakistan in a nuclear war with infidel Hindu-dominated India that is intended to unite and radicalize one-sixth of the world’s people who are Muslim to wage jihad.

The nukes and rumors of nukes being stockpiled in South Asia since the late 1980s has compelled hot headed hawks in the governments of India and Pakistan to rush to the brink of war a number of times yet so far they dare not cross that apocalyptic line. I was in India during one of those rushes to that line. It was in the first half of 1990. I reflected upon those days eleven years later in what was written below in December 2001, framing them in childhood memories of the closest time the world came to doomsday:

During the Cuban Missile Crisis I watched loved ones peer into soft October skies waiting for Armageddon to fly on contrails of missiles and B-52 bombers. The tension I experienced in India reminded me of those thirteen frightening days from my childhood. I walked in the Indian valleys in the shadow of immanent nuclear death. That feeling returns to me now eleven years later [December 2001] as I watch developments in this newest crisis. I feel India and Pakistan moving inexorably towards the dark frontiers of a fourth war [forseen by Mahatma Gandhi] on the tank treads of mobile ballistic missile launchers.

A FOURTH –AND NUCLEAR — WAR?

In mid-December 2001, eight terrorists identified as members of the Kashmiri insurgent organizations of Jaish-e-Mohammed and Lashkar-e Tayyaba, stormed the Indian Parliament in New Delhi. All eight men were killed along with six Indian security servicemen in a failed attempt to annihilate the political leadership of India. Soon afterwards large contingents of the 1.3-million-man Indian army and six-hundred-thousand-man Pakistani army began moving into position facing each other in the winter fastness of Kashmir along the disputed Line of Control. Farther south you see them park their tanks and set up their mortars and artillery along the partition line drawn 54 years before, dividing the heavily populated regions of Punjab. They position their anti-aircraft batteries and mobile ballistic missile launchers behind dunes in the deserts along the western edge of Rajasthan. They prepare dugouts for over a million soldiers down along an invisible line, drawn on the maps of politicians, across the Himilayan fastness of Kashmir all the way down to the salt marshes of the Rann of Kutch along the Arabian Sea.

And there those million men of India, and a half-million men of Pakistan, wait; hopeful for a diplomatic solution.

On Friday, 21 December [2001], the Indian High Commissioner to Pakistan, Vijay K. Nambiar, promptly left the Pakistani capital declaring a diplomatic impasse. He had learned that Pakistan would not immediately arrest all leaders and members of Jaish-e-Mohammed and Lashkar-e Tayyaba organizations and dismantle their training camps in the Pakistani occupied portion of Kashmir.

Given the new and darker world we live in after terrorists harbored by rogue nations crashed hijacked jets into New York’s skyline and the US Capital, India feels within its rights to demand of Pakistan what America demanded of Taliban ruled Afghanistan: a) arrest all terrorists within their borders; b) close down and destroy their training camps; c) seize and destroy their weapons; and, d) face a full scale military retaliation if there is no compliance to every demand.

What indeed would Americans demand of Pakistan if they where in India’s place? If terrorists from camps in Pakistani-controlled Kashmir had sprayed the US Capitol Building with grenades and machine guns in an attempt to slaughter the US Senate and US House of Representatives, what would the United States do?

By adopting the Bush terrorism doctrine, India could soon launch an attack on terrorist camps in Pakistani territory but this time, the fourth war foreseen by Gandhi could go nuclear. Current estimates place Pakistan’s nuclear arsenal at 8 to 20 atomic bombs, each with a destructive force similar to those used by the United States in their nuclear attack on Japan in 1945. India may have anywhere from 25 to 40 similarly destructive atomic weapons in its arsenal.

When Gandhi and Jinnah debated the partition of India, there were 340 million people in the balance. Fifty-four years and an explosion of population later, Gandhi’s warning of a fourth and catastrophic war places up to 1.2 billion South Asians in the balance. In the worst case scenario, history’s first nuclear “bush” war could extinguish far more people than all those lost in both world wars of the 20th century. The death toll could be in the hundreds of millions.

The descriptions above, written exactly seven years ago, sound like today’s news. New terrorist attacks out of Pakistan on India, this time Mumbai, compel Indian leaders to demand the extradition of culprits and the dismantling of camps. It only seems the names of these leaders and organizations have changed. Now, starting with today, begins the military buildup along the border, the ramp up of tensions that could lead us weeks or months away from the brinksmanship of nuclear conflict in South Asia, like before, if this time India moves to punitive attacks on terror camps inside Pakistan.

A report released in May 2002 entitled Disarmament Diplomacy: News Review – India and Pakistan Camped on Brink of War over Kashmir estimated a worst-case scenario death toll far lower than my estimate. The defense agency report calculated an initial 8-12 million deaths in a nuclear exchange. Millions more later would succumb to radiation poisoning which they did not wish to specify.

“That’s the worst-case scenario,” said an unamed Defense Department official, commenting on the paper, “If we have correctly guessed the number of weapons each side has, and their targets, and presuming they’re all ground bursts versus air bursts… The fatalities if they were air bursts would be slightly smaller by maybe a million, but…that’s still a very significant number…”

The report doesn’t factor in collteral death tolls from disease and famine caused by the destruction of urban Indian and Pakistani urban centers. Maybe a million? The tone of the study almost makes the unthinkable, sound possible. The possible is a view military hawks on both sides of the Line of Control push as sustainable. This mindset is immune to the concept of Mutually Assured Destruction (MAD) that kept the Soviets and the Americans from fighting a nuclear war for nearly a half-a-century during the Cold War.
