The flood of Wiener wonk nearly consumed all the talking-headed hot air of network attention as the second great American river flood of 2011 ongoing along the Missouri River and its tributaries raged. You may not have heard or seen footage of Nebraska’s Fort Calhoun nuclear power plant threatened by mounting flood waters, having had a fire that for 90 minutes shut down the cooling system that keeps radioactive rods from meltdown. ProPublica reports the crisis happened on 7 June. The day before, the Federal Administration Aviation (FAA) issued a NOTAM (notice to airmen) effective immediately closing airspace over the Fort Calhoun plant.

The FAA explained that the “no fly zone” was put in place because of the flooding danger, side stepping the fact that the Fort Calhoun was specifically mentioned in the NOTAM. When pressed, Jeff Hanson, a spokesman for the OPPD (Omaha Public Power District) explained that the FAA closed airspace “because of security reasons” that he could not reveal and that the flight ban over the nuclear facility is still active at the time of this writing (18 June 2011).

The nuclear facility is surrounded by flood waters. There is hope that redundant features protecting the facility from the rising Missouri, including an aqua dam and earthen berms, will prevent the swollen river from repeating the tsunami deluge in Fukushima, Japan, on 11 March that took down the water cooling systems of four reactors causing partial meltdowns in the worst nuclear disaster since Chernobyl.

By the way, earthquakes and floods so far do not take down water-cooled nuclear reactors whether in Fukushima Japan or Fort Calhoun outside Wichita Nebraska. Tsunamis of salt water or freshwater deluges of the Missouri can, however, take out the diesel pumps that keep submerged uranium reactor rods cooled by pumping and recycling a protective pool of water. Once that evaporates, the rods melt causing a potential nuclear disaster releasing deadly radiation into the atmosphere.

Nostradamus writes of dreadful globes that release man-made pestilences. He recounted two ports visited by a scourge of invisible plague never before seen. These are believed by many to be Hiroshima and Nagasaki. He further wrote a quatrain about “false dust.” This might be his 16th-century attempt at describing nuclear fallout. The area in question is clearly mapped out. Since nothing has happened there, this prophecy is about our future.

This prophecy makes me think of another Wiener-whacked news item that impacts your life yet got little attention by the news until recently when all the sensation that could be squeezed out of Wiener’s news cycle had passed with his circus of a press conference announcing his resignation from Congress as hecklers embedded in the press corps ejaculated verbal abuse. While Wiener-gate had its final curtain call, the financial crisis of Greece, this worst of EU debtor nations, witnessed widespread and violent clashes between police and thousands of rioters in Athens as the pain of economic cuts to human services to pay off the crippling national debt cut to touch a deeper collective nerve. It made me think that tsunamis of water are not the only thing that can undermine support systems nourishing a nuclear power plant’s rod-cooling pools. A tsunami-like collapse of social order can turn the power off after an economic earthquake.

Here Nostradamus specifically lists regions of Greece under a nine-month famine caused by a “false dust” and a riot. He used a double entendre: connisse in the Old French implies the Greek konis (dust, ashes) and the Latin connissus (exerted, striven against).

I think of croplands of Japan surrounding Fukushima. They may go fallow for decades because of “false dust” — a kind of hidden pestilence — that makes livestock and crops inedible. In Nostradamus’ quatrain, a future false dust collapses the agriculture of the Cyclades archipelago in the Aegean Sea, including Chios. Perinthus is a town in Northern Greece as is the Thessalian town of Larissa. The entire southern Peloponnesus Peninsula which climate change is steadily turning from a mellow Mediterranean to a parched semi-arid climate for farming will have its agriculture shut down by dust storms or radiological dust from some nuclear disaster.

The phrase false dust also hides a secondary meaning implying the kind of riots we now see in Athens mounting in intensity to take down social order in Greece for nine months when the people in desperation exert and strive against their government, first over contesting the payment of dept and later over food riots.

Water in flood has the power to take down the support systems of nuclear reactors in Fukushima and potentially outside of Omaha Nebraska. Water transformed and evaporated into air also can reach out an invisible tidal wave of tornadic winds at nuclear facilities that your mainstream TV news outlets generally overlooked in the great tornado outbreak across Alabama in late April 2011.

Kira, one of our readers who has provided us with a first hand eyewitness account of the aftermath of EF5 tornados ravaging her town of Harvest Alabama, passed along reports to me on 11 May 2011 that a tornado may have seriously damaged a nearby nuclear facility.

Kira’s source who wishes to remain anonymous related that Browns Ferry nuclear plant west of Huntsville near the towns of Decatur and Tanner was indeed seriously damaged by the EF5 tornado that plowed through Kira’s town. The source went on to praise the men and women of the National Weather Service and their media partners. Without their accurate reports, a far greater loss of life would have happened.

I would also add that accurate tornado tracking aided the nuclear technicians at Browns Ferry. At this time when weather watchers save lives in ever more violent climate change, the US Congress in its retarded foresight is currently debating weather to eviscerate the NWS budget by 30 percent.

Another thing to document. My subconscious is processing the pre-pocalypse now, and I had a very vivid dream last night. I was outside, at night, after the tornado, and the moon was new (as it was during the time the city was without electricity). The dirt road I am traveling is pitch black. The trees are black silhouettes against the enormous sky bejeweled with stars. I am mesmerized by the awesome beauty. I stare at the sky for a very long time taking in the sheer enormity of it. Then I remember my children, but where are they? How am I going to find them? How will I feed them? I start to panic. I begin to run toward the city, because I know if they are there no one will care for them. I know everyone is so busy doing their own things they will not stop for my children.

This was the whole dream. But it sums up my experience very well. And it sums up Pluto, doesn’t it? Incredible power, beauty, and complete blackness.

It is fascinating to me that my psyche is still trying to process these experiences. It was all much more traumatic than I ever expected.

Kira mentioned Pluto. In layman’s terms, this planet’s slow transit through the signs indicates in the language of predictive astrology the undercurrents of generational change affecting humanity en masse. In my 2011 prophecies, I defined this subtle-though cosmically permeating phenomenon thus:

Stars and planets wandering in and out of aspect can be a seer’s language, divining a future in cosmic poetry. Greek mythology plays a metaphorical role in astrology’s lingua astra. The farthest and slowest moving planet through the signs of the Zodiac is named after the Lord of the Underworld, the Greek god Pluto. The most distant planet takes up the role of the most impersonal effects on collective human history. Pluto is the zeitgeist of generations.

The Underworld of Pluto is what underpins or lies beneath the surface of apparent history, like invisible gravity keeps earth, ocean and human foot from flying off into space.

We live mostly unaware of the rotation of our planet, yet can’t live or go forward without it. Such is Pluto’s gravitas on the collective human mind. It’s an orbit of ages, like orbits of Earth around the Sun that we scarcely consider in our little day-to-day lives except indirectly when marking the changes of weather with the seasons. Yet, this force propels us, falling through space lap after lap around our star in a great annual circuit, invisible to our eyes.

Pluto’s 248-year orbit through the 12 signs of the Zodiac influences how individuals — high or low — are carried en masse into the orbit of humanity’s unconscious momentum into periods of upheaval, revolution, and breathtaking change, impacting the whole of humanity.

If man proposes and God disposes, that god is Pluto.

How history levels a reckoning beyond our best-made plans will have the particular mood and generational tone of the sign Pluto transits.

When I was young, I played pretending games like “Lost on Space” or “Star Wars” or “mermaids” by myself or with friends. Now, as the parent, I am watching Xander play pretending games, but his are called “tsunami”, “earthquake” and “tornado”. He stacks dominoes on the table and shakes the table until they fall, and sweeps his hand over the dominoes simulating water. Or he spins around “sucking up” things in the house and spewing out imaginary lightning. He’s 4 years old… Fascinating. Just thought you might like to hear.

Hi Kira,
I do. It is good. It is good he turns it into play. When I was growing up there was the Great Alaskan Earthquake in 1964. I used to build whole towns with blocks and populate them with my toy solders as townspeople. Then I would shake the table as a quake. I would send in rescue parties to retrieve the injured and collect the dead then rebuild the town.

It sounds rather morbid, but then, you have seen my chart.

The process was a very positive and creative way to process the intensity of quakes as a Southern Californian kid living in my own active seismic zone. There were a number of moderate quakes during my formative years and I also experienced one major temblor, the Sylmar Quake.

One time I had played this game and had put the blocks away. Then shortly after we had a 5.7 quake and I thought, “Darn! I could have had a real shake knock down my town.”

I rebuilt it and kept it up for about a week hoping to catch an aftershock. No luck.

I also used to build the Golden Gate Bridge with boards, string and shoe boxes. Ah but that is another story for another day.

EF-3 tornado passing over Connecticut River before rampaging through Springfield Mass.

Friends, I have known first-hand how wild the weather can get in Massachusetts when I was a member of the summer stock Highfield Theater troop in the latter half of the 1970s. As a Southern Californian my meteorological experiences were pretty much limited to sunny days and mild nights in the south end beaches of Los Angeles County, before the climate started getting unstable from 1979 onward, where we only had two seasons a year: smog and fog.

When I flew into Boston in June 1977, I had the first experience of sticky, thickly humid air. I claimed a shared bedroom in the theater commune outside of Falmouth and it was not long before my spare shoes placed under the bed sprouted a grass-like mold. The dry air of Southern Cal ever stuffing my nose to smells was dilated to sample the rich aromas of earth and grass, the funk of New England’s dry rot in white washed buildings on the campus. I experienced for the first time vanilla skies where swam languorously a scarlet sun in humid vapors that hid behind their yellow sheen the prowling, sun eating “sharks” of thunderstorms.

I recall the back yard of the theater. Promising young talent in costume wandered the meadows and woods warming up their voices, reciting their lines as they bestirred fire flies while milky heads of great anvil clouds catching fading light in soft twilight glowered. I heard our director say something no Californian director ever uttered in his final notes before showtime: “…Oh, and one more thing, everybody. We are under a severe thunderstorm watch, so be prepared to stop the show and take cover at a moments notice.”

I have thespian artist friends originally hailing from Massachusetts who moved into my little island village in the Pacific Northwest setting up shop where they sell, among many other fantastic fantasy gear, fairy wings for kids of all ages and you are greeted by a fast talking puppet who likes nacho chips if you’ve got’em. He is rapidly becoming — I predict — the next Pew Wee Herman, albeit rendered in leather.

I am told Nymbol is a boggart with a knack for mischief. In his stage show he inhabits a magical island with phantasmagorical creatures, pirates, and perhaps sometime in the future, an opera singing Nostradamus expert known as the Flying Dutchman, Captain VanderHogue-ing. But I digress…

The other day I met Bill Cass, Nymbol’s alter ego and puppet master, coming out of the local pizzeria in the wake of his ebullient daughters — a couple of bright eyed, and joyous Alices from Wonderland (who I would like to believe are real magical faeries masquerading as humans for now).

In the first pause of a happy, laugh filled meeting, Bill and I started talking about a rare New England tornado outbreak that spawned at least nine twisters reported hitting several towns and cities in western and central Massachusetts on Wednesday afternoon, 1 June 2011. An EF3 tornado plowed through the heart of Springfield, a major metropolitan area. It toppled brick buildings killing four, injuring over 200 and damages cost an estimated $100.

Bill reflected that growing up in New England one always got a little wary of the weather in May and June for their extremely violent thunderstorms. Large hailstone showers that can kill a person nearly claimed his van once. For my part I dodged nearly being skewered by two lightning strikes in my season at Highfield Theater and this Californian from copacetic weather patterns was reminded often that “Here on the East Coast, we have real weather.”

Nevertheless, this tornado outbreak across New England was different. Even severe thunderstorm seasoned Massachusetts people have not seen such a tornado roller coaster run them over in a lifetime.

This is the way of the year 2011, where even the seasoned survivors of heavy weather in the US Midwestern Tornado Alley to New England or those who “weather” earthquakes, like the people of Japan, have been taken to unknown new levels of “terror”-tory.

Watch the You Tube footage of the superquake and tsunami in Japan in March and the response of people used to hard quaking and waves clearly passes beyond what they can emotionally absorb. Then comes April. The tornado-seasoned citizens of St Louis beheld their international airport taken down by a twister. The twister veteran US southerners are run through by two deadly tornado outbreaks bushwhacking Tennessee, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, and the Carolinas, pressing a windy buzz saw to large metro areas such as Birmingham, Tuscaloosa and flattening a dozen little towns like Kira’s Harvest, Alabama. Then, in a year visiting one major catastrophe a month, May’s Mississippi River deluge mounted flood levels not seen in living human memory unless you are in your 90s or 100s. Then came the Missouri tornado outbreak that destroyed Joplin, soon to make the 2011 tornado season the deadliest in 61 years!

Oh, and let us not forget in this year of 2011, the year of “never before seen” natural disasters, the day Springfield was bombed out by an EF3 tornado also marks the official beginning of the 2011 Hurricane Season, of which I have warned in prophecies for 2011. It will be another uptick in climate tipping points not seen in living and ever forgetful human memory since the season of Hurricane Katrina in 2005. The South and Southeastern states of the US are already enduring 2011′s spring-turned-suddenly-dog-day-summer-triple-digit-overheated — the precursor to a powerful hurricane season as ocean temperatures in Gulf of Mexico and the Gulf Stream steam up into the bathwater warm 80s in Fahrenheit waiting to become a watery breakfast of cyclonic champion storms rolling off Africa and the Caribbean.

The storm intensity not before seen paralleling triple-digit heat waves brings to mind the message from my oracle about natural disasters in 2011 that put the chill of dire future in the consequence of human induced global warming:

I wrote on 1 November 2009, “I foresee 2010 as the year things get hot and stay hot in the climate, almost as if this is a temperature tsunami rolling across the Earth from northern to southern hemispheres of season change.

“…It will be reported in 2011 that a fault line in climate sustainability was breached in 2010 and thrust the global average of temperatures across the planet to suddenly lift upward. [This will cause a] climate changing tidal wave of natural disasters, the most serious of which will visit South and East Asia and Southern California.”

… Indeed that trend will continue in 2011. The human race will descend into deeper denial of climate change just when the first signs of catastrophe draw near. I predicted for 2010, that people around the world would talk and write about it as the year of uniquely weird, unpredictable and violent weather never before seen.

They will forget about 2010 when faced with even worse climate violence in 2011. They will simply blink at the new norm.

A sustainable future of this globally interconnected civilization can ill afford short term, “grab and burn what resources you can” policies promoted by government and business leadership. Yet, human misbehavior to the Earth will increase rather than start correcting itself in 2011. This prevailing attitude of “I need a job now, solve climate change later” will see some of you lose your homes to tornadoes, your businesses to hurricane and typhoon, your crops to fire storms. Some of you reading this now will have lost your lives in the year 2011 as a direct result of following along this perpetuation of denial.

Final Chapter: Alarm Bells Sound the Unsustainable

The 2011 Hurricane Season draws near.

World industries increase fossil fuel emissions heating the atmosphere by 5 percent in 2010 and the trend is for more in 2011. Now the corporate mainstream media begins mollycoddling people with a new bromide, rather than cite the global climate emergency, they now indoctrinate the boobs watching the tube that this is “the new normal” just as my oracle had foreseen.

Now we pass the narrative of preposterous weather violence in a pre-apocalyptical year back to Kira’s diary written in the aftermath of the tornado outbreak in Alabama in late April that destroyed her town of Harvest Alabama. You can read part one of her diary by clicking on Tornado Outbreak.

Four days after her last entry, Kira filed this on 9 May 2011:

John, I have one more update for you.

I took the car out yesterday for the first time since the tornadoes and just have to tell you what I saw. You are the only one that will care, I think, because it seems to me that most people are … not interested? Which boggles my mind. I think maybe it’s just that people are still in shock. No one is talking about this anymore really, and after seeing the EF5 damage first hand, I have the feeling that the damage might just be so unfathomable that people CAN’T talk about it.

Anyhow, here is what I saw. Pictures cannot possibly show you what is out there, there’s just too much of it.

I went to a development called “Anderson Hills” that was hit head on. It looks like Godzilla stormed in and took huge chunks out of the houses with a massive claw hand. Or like the houses had been hit with exploding mortars. Half the house will be pristine, and the other half will look like it was just dumped out of the blender… and these are HUGE brick houses. ALL the trees were twisted and snapped. Some houses were stripped down to the studs. It looked like the bricks were just melting off the houses in places. I saw a massive tree overturned… with roots and all… and then realized there was no hole in the ground where it was laying, so the tree must have landed there after being pulled up somewhere else. It seems the wind damage (not only including the tornado but also the straight winds) was about 10 miles across. Just a guess.

The more I type the more I realize that words don’t suffice. We are hit by tornadoes every year. Its normal. But we have never seen anything like this. This was not just a tornado, it was a monster. And, by the way, my sister says a neighbor of hers snapped a photo of the tornado, and it shows three funnels. I have not searched online to see if this has been officially reported, but have heard it again from other neighbors since, as well. Schools in Cullman are just now opening back up, and Redstone Arsenal is also just now opening for military business.

I wonder if people will be going to therapy about these weather changes. In all seriousness, my psyche feels bruised, for lack of a better description. I don’t understand why people are not talking about this on Facebook, especially since a third of the folks on my “friends” list are from here. I wonder if it’s because they don’t want to talk about unpleasant things? Actually, I recently read that the people closest to a disaster won’t talk about it, and will also not believe that it will happen again, and will not prepare for that eventuality. The people just OUTSIDE this disaster zone, though, will take things much more seriously. The further the folks are from the epicenter, the more seriously they will take the warning of another disaster. I think I read that in a science magazine at the doctor’s office.

My neighbor from across the street came over yesterday. She and her husband have already moved to Georgia (months back), and are trying to sell their house. She was still in shock, “bruised”, talking a mile-a-minute about the devastation, and about the fact that her friends house disappeared in the wind.

I had to double check, “Were you here during the tornado?” No, she said, she wasn’t. But she was talking like she was here and had experienced it. My brain is too tired to figure out why she seemed to have lived through what we here did. Interesting, nonetheless. She also said she was very disappointed that many people that she knows here left the area the day after the storm. As if they could not handle living without electricity, TV, showers, stoves. She viewed this disaster as an opportunity to “pull it together”, but that people instead high-tailed it out of here. Again, my brain is too tired to know what I think about this, but it is interesting to hear and remember.

The changes we decided to make after the storm have partially stuck so far. Computer games for the kids are gone. My son seems much happier. I think they made him lonely, even though he loved them. We do not watch TV when the whole family is home anymore (but I must admit I love to watch the Nostradamus stuff and Ghost Adventures from time to time when I am alone).

[My husband] Mark has quit all computer games as well, and has also quit his ritual of going to relax in front of the computer after work. He seems much happier now that he is no longer stuck in this rut. Maybe new behaviors will be born for us because of these shocking events. I will watch to see. And I am glad I can relate these observations to you, because I know you can hear me.

I offer strange reflections this Memorial Day Holiday. I am thinking of the fallen of the most recent and escalating war of which most Americans are oblivious as it runs misty battle lines this spring stretching sometimes for over two thousand miles eastward across the American great plains to the Atlantic coast. The people run for cover at the call of tornado sirens. The bombers approach and thunder. They are a great air fleet of anvil headed cumulus nimbi unleashing their dreadful loads of hail flash flooding downpours and twisters. Neighborhoods and whole towns, such as Tuscaloosa, and Harvest, Alabama, and most recently Joplin, Missouri are left in the wake of their bombing run flattened and torn asunder like Dresden, Berlin, London, Tokyo — cities bombed and flattened in the Second World War.

Like Churchill before him, President Barack Obama as leader of a besieged nation surveys the wreckage of his “East London” one week, then comforts the survivors of debris fields of his “Coventry” the next. He is already a “war leader” in the ways our limited understanding defines it narrowing the definition to that waged by human weapons and inhuman behavior in Iraq, Libya and Afghanistan. He does not yet see himself as a war president surveying the rubble of Tuscaloosa one week, Joplin the next as fearful ruin descending from bombers of a non-human attack.

This has been so far the deadliest US tornado season since 1950 with a death toll from tornado outbreaks in April through May across the US southern and midwestern states rising beyond 500 and climbing. In Joplin, yesterday, President Obama participated in memorial services nationally televised for the 142 recovered dead from killing fields left by the twelve mile long rampage of a single EF5 tornado that passed through the southern part of a city of 50,000. Many of the bandaged 900 “wounded” in this attack of the sky were also present and thoughts and prayers strayed upon concern for the war missing, the 100 or so who are yet unaccounted after the attack.

Few within the throng of silent survivors or their president yet grasp that this is war and not merely acts of God in natural disasters. It is a hard thing to fathom, this war, because appearances are deceiving. The storms that do the lethal work whilst sweeping away lifetimes of work and homes in a few terrifying moments are not the enemy but the consequence of what is “enemy” that set this most global of all world wars in motion.

The enemy is in our collective minds.

The “Adolf Hitler” in this world war is Adolf Habits we have been trained to mindlessly adopt and borrow that pits our hubris against the natural balances of this world. The strain of our parasitic and growing numbers, our usurpation of the world’s treasures of earth, sea and air to abandon — without thought of the consequences of our unsustainable “Adolf Habits” — has brought the air fleets of thunder flying over our towns. It is as if we had loaded the gun and shot ourselves thinking the blow had come from outside of ourselves.

The 500-and-counting who have tragically died and are soon to die in this 2011 tornado season have pulled the climate changing trigger on themselves along with all the rest of us. The state of their consciousness and of ours who are yet spared is the enemy destroying our lives and property.

In this war of nature — human nature versus the natural balances of the planet — we have become the collateral damage of our unconscious intentions.

Those who wish to become aware of their nature can work to turn the tide of this conflict with Mother Nature, calm her storms and quakes, and restore ecological balance to the planet.

My way to recognize and transcend my part in the creation of imbalance in nature is through practicing meditation techniques that restore awareness of the soul to the mind’s borrowed and anti-life machinations of Adolf Habit.

Many of you who regularly read HogueProphecy.com are in the line of attacking storm tracks these last few months and as much as I am able, I have been trying to contact you and hold you and your dearest ones in my meditations. Among these are my friend, Madhuri Jewel, who is near Joplin and Kira, whose town of Harvest, Alabama was virtually destroyed by 200 mph winds of one of the EF5 tornadoes in the great tornado outbreak of 25-27 April across the South that killed over 300 people in one afternoon, injuring thousands.

Kira has left an e-diary of her experiences. I have asked and received permission to share her account of life in Harvest Alabama after the tornado.

On April 27, 2011, Harvest suffered catastrophic damage north of Nick Davis Road, situated between Old Railroad Bed and Wall Triana. The devastation advanced towards the Limestone Prison where the following You Tube video was shot, I believe, by correction officers. Click on Harvest Alabama Tornado.

The tornado went directly over them. Hear the beautiful, terrifying, sound of nature’s power, the great apocalyptic symphony of the winds in an aquamarine and black wedge EF-5 tornado.

Something like this is what Kira, her husband and their two small children (one aged four and the youngest not yet one year old) witnessed. They fortunately did not take a direct hit, but as she will relate, such disasters affect more than just those in their direct path.

This is a foretaste of what many of us will experience when a globally warming climate expands the power, the reach and the size of tornadoes, Atlantic hurricanes, Indian Ocean and South Pacific cyclones and western Pacific typhoons. Kira’s entries are dated and in dark red, my inserted entries come from today, 30 May 2011. Her first entry was posted the second night after the destruction of Harvest late in the afternoon of 27 April 2011:

Hi john…. typing this on borrowed generator power… and in the dark. Am in harvest alabama, f4 territory. You should have seen the wind, it was Astounding! Sorry for mistypes,using a nook and fat fingers. My house spared, many houses gone, three left their roofs behind. Most large trees splintered or broken. No power till at least next Thursday, may end up without water soon. All stores empty for 50+miles, gas stations have limited power to pumps,gas lines hours long. Will write again next time I run jnto a generator. Kira

The storms are going to get more powerful with each new year. Thus the widespread disruption of supersystems that sustain food, water and power systems that provide you your basic needs for life will be ever more wide ranging. That is why it is prudent to store food and water because as I have written in the past, collective prophecy visions indicate what is coming in natural disasters will escalate and be global in nature.

I have a generator once more and just wanted to give you a quick update, this time not so wigged out that I type so badly. We are still without power in some places and it is unstable in others. Complete strangers will come up to me and want to talk about what they saw during the storm… people are still in shock. For a while everyone hung out outside, riding bikes, walking, going to parks, volunteering. But as power is restored, the community roads and sidewalks are again becoming desolate.

Still, it seems the storm was a life changer for everyone I have talked to. One guy in all camouflage told me with a thick southern accent that he now believes in global warming. My husband says he likes the quiet, so he is canceling cable TV, and plans to stay off the Internet 6 days per week. The Bible thumper lady next door said she realizes that needing to straighten and then curl her hair before she leaves the house is no longer desirable… But I think she will not stop it. Little bites of realization for everyone. Its getting cold and dark… time for bed. More later. Kira

I was just lying in bed, between my kids, thinking about our experiences here in Harvest during and since the (apparently EF5) tornado ripped one mile past my house. I was wondering when my mind would percolate down the lessons I had learned from this disturbing experience. My husband and I refer to this super tornado event as the “pre-pocalypse”, assuming we will be seeing much more of this weather. I think I know what I will be taking away from this experience, at least partly, and I thought I would share it.

First, let me say that I have always been a survivalist type. When I was 18, I traveled to Vatican City and talked with a bishop in the Vatican to ask about being a nun there in Rome. He refused me, said I wasn’t ready. He told me to go get a degree in education and then return.

Instead, I moved to Virginia and went to college among the Amish and the Mennonites, so that I could learn their plain way of living. They taught me quilting, cleaning and cooking. I saved up all my grocery money, eating only oats and popcorn for four years, so that I could go to survival school in the summers. I took all the classes I could, and even started going to the survival school when no classes were in session, just to practice my skills.

Then I moved to Seattle to become a trauma nurse… This is the nurse who rides in the rescue helicopter to uncover avalanche victims or people lost and starving in the mountains. Missing my family, I moved to Alabama to work at NASA’s Earth Science facility. I also worked closely with the National Weather Service, and knew full well what the 2000′s would bring violent weather-wise. I have a garage full of survival stuff — water, food, medicine, you name it. So I was very, very, very well prepared for a pre-pocalypse this spring!

So the tornadoes tore through our community and vacuumed hundred year old oaks clear out of the ground, roots and all, and threw them around the sky like toothpicks, knocking down houses, power lines, and other trees.

This EF5 tornado missed the northern Alabama nuclear facility by only ONE MILE. That nuclear plant wouldn’t have stood a chance if it were in the direct path. We got really lucky, even though power was out in the whole city, phone service (both cell and land line) was gone, gas was very hard to get, food was stripped from the stores within hours, and no one had any idea how long this would last, or how bad the crime would get. Dad says he slept with his gun from Vietnam on the bedside table, and a shotgun in the hall. It was DARK at night. Looters were driving in from all over the place.

At first this new electricity-free world was novel… So silent it was deafening. Really, you could hear your ears ringing just because they were scanning to hear all the sounds they normally did. The stars were unbelievably bright jewels. Thousands upon thousands. Usually we can only see maybe 10 stars at night. I remember thinking, “Well no wonder the ancients built all their temples in relation to the stars!”

Living in the mostly dark for a few days, I realized what my grandparents really meant when they said, “Make hay while the sun shines!”

We had to get up with the sun to get our survival going before the sun set. My 4-year-old son seemed to be much happier without all the noise and interruptions of electronic media in our house. The neighbors were out meeting each other and trading destruction stories. People were riding bikes. Things were peachy, and I was enjoying the learning experience I had prepared for pretty much all my life. But then came the rainy cold day. Dark. I had to search through the dark house for warm clothes for my kids. I had to figure out how to find them something to eat without the ability to cook outside on the fire pit. Our great weather changed for the worse and flooding started in the yards. Tree branches and trashcans floated down the street. I couldn’t sleep because we were out of food and I couldn’t get hold of family by phone or computer. Eventually I took the kids to my mother’s, when her power was eventually restored.

Power came on at my house today. I am exhausted and think I have an infection now from dehydration. We still aren’t out of the woods here, but a bright light really makes the heart happy. And I have learned something I thought I would never ever think, and that is that pioneer life mostly sucks. It’s a lot harder than I thought it would be, living day to day without all our distractions, conveniences and entertainments.

It is very beautiful, and it most definitely makes people more intimate, there is no doubt of that. There are some aspects of this life we are going to keep, like reducing the noise and busyness of our modern lives. We are getting rid of cell phones and TVs in our house. Electronic toys will be losing their batteries. I plan to get rid of most of the junk in my house, just because I tripped over so many things when the lights were out. But I have learned that urban survival is really hard.

I guess in a year, had we made it that long without normal supply chains, we would have gotten used to it. But having prepared for this enforced-simplicity all my life, it still sucked, and I have learned my lesson. The Internet is pretty awesome. Lights are really really nice. Running water, HOT water … wow. We have really made a heaven on earth with some of our modern inventions. And I think we are so addicted to these pleasures that we can’t see, until we are hit by an EF5 wind, that we are going to kill ourselves, by way of an angry planet, with all these pleasures.

It took a 100-mile per hour wind to get me to see that there are some things worth saving.

I am not sure if I have clearly enough bared my soul here, as I have tried to do. I guess you kinda had to be there. But I have a feeling we will all be getting a taste of this pre-pocalypse soon. And it kinda sucks to have to wake up like that. Kira

Wake up we must. And the sooner we all wake up and start sustaining our civilization in harmony with this planet, the less catastrophic will be the disruptions of the human world to come.

I do not know where to begin. On the back burner of my subconscious ever since the catastrophic tornado outbreak across the US South has been the gnawing concern for those in my ever-widening global Internet community that might be in harm’s way.

I have been “vibe-ing” and emailing readers living in Alabama, Tennessee and the Carolinas. I am especially waiting for some answer from friends in Alabama in the hopes that widespread power outages there have delayed replies rather than life’s power being cut off by one of the estimated 169 tornadoes reported last Wednesday. The maelstrom slammed seven states, on 27 April 2011 — worst of which was the northern third of Alabama — in the worst tornado outbreak in 86 years. The death toll is at 340 and rising making it the second deadliest outbreak in history.

I have managed to contact every one of my readers, the status of the last of which caused me the most concern because I sensed my friend “Kira” who has frequently left comments in these pages, was in great danger from the tornadoes. I recall warning her in 2010 to be careful this year because of the hurricane season coming. (You can read more about what is coming, and early, by reading my forecast in Predictions for 2011.)

I thought she was still living near the Alabama coast but only after the Wednesday outbreak, when tuning into her, I suddenly remembered she had moved. Moved to northern Alabama!

Anyway, I sent out email feelers yesterday and received her reply just before sitting down to compose the first draft of this blog on Friday night, 29 April 2011.

As Kira is part of our HogueProphecy community on Internet, I wanted to share with you all her eyewitness account, somehow composed in the darkness of Harvest, Alabama, back on Friday night. Harvest is now a town where the lights are out, the streetlights are down, many arbor shaded neighborhoods denuded to splintered wastelands yet as many as 3,000 volunteers on Saturday have pitched in to search and clean the wreckage, now to the din of power generators.

Is this the way it will be? A historic catastrophe per month?

Will the year 2011 be the year of twelve natural disaster catastrophes?

The Oracle had impressed upon me in sessions in late 2009 a message about an assault on the human race that would take two years to reach its full intensity as Mother Nature’s world war against human stupidity.

I wrote the following in November 2010. The oracle declared that the Copenhagen Accords to be held by world leaders the following month in Denmark with a goal of finding international consensus about reducing greenhouse gas emissions enough to slow climate change was a kind of modern “Munich Pact.” The world leaders of today act like Hitler’s appeasers in the past only this time they try to appease angry nature herself with feckless gestures at the onset of her two-year escalation of global super storms and other natural disasters. The previous appeasers, British Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain and French Prime Minister Edouard Daladier, convened an emergency summit in Munich in 1938 with Hitler to give the Axis dictator any ethnic Germans and territory he wanted ripped off Czechoslovakia if that prevented a world war.

There were storm clouds of world war on the horizon then. Starting in 2010, the storm clouds on the horizon “are” the war:

What lies before us in 2010 is another kind of appeasement to buy a little less than a year’s worth of denial before the sudden lightning spike of a new kind of world war where friends and foes alike are cut in a more subtle identity. Starting the year 2010 into 2011, Mother Earth is about to declare worldwide war on us. She will fight us on the oceans with weapons of typhoon and hurricane. She will invade our beaches with rising oceans. She will bombard us with heated atmosphere and withhold the rains to water our fields of grain to deny her enemy sustenance. She will pull back her glaciers, withdraw and deny us her rivers. She will set in motion a scorched earth policy. Ignite her forests afire to burn us out. She will decimate our exploding and rapacious populations that covet and denude every arable acre, suck every last fresh water drop and befoul every last cubic inch of her fresh air. We drive her mad with climate fevers and she attacks.

Chapter 15: We Have Appeasement for Our Times

Shall I comfort tree-hugger hubris and permit myself to secretly gloat? Some do believe that karma came down hard with earthquakes, tsunamis and nuclear reactor meltdowns upon Japan because its people wantonly hunt down and kill whales at a rate beyond any other nation. Campaign Whale reports that over 20,000 smaller whales, dolphins and porpoises are cruelly slaughtered in Japanese waters every year. The meat is sold for human consumption. Deep water whaling fleets of Japanese sail to the Southern Seas killing 800 or more whales of larger species each year “for research”, or so they say, even though the “research” meat ends up at fish monger markets across Japan for public consumption.

Shall I privately indulge the self-righteous guilty pleasure of the green peaceable who believe fishing towns along the northeastern Japanese coast harboring local fishing fleets that hunt Dall porpoise by the thousands where shattered then washed away by the 11 March 2011 quake and tsunami by an act of existential revenge? Were nearly 30,000 people claimed by some divine wave — a cetacean citation of crimes against innocent dolphins?

What am I to make of the Red States like Oklahoma and especially Texas now ember red and blackened with range fires scorching millions of acres in March and April 2011? Is Nature gunning for the fossil fuel harvesting and belching longhorn state?

What about those other red-blooded Republican “red” states, those pro-creationist, anti-science faith based bastions of the US Midwest and the South? The “Bible Belt” populations mostly eschew scientific evidence of global warming and climate change. Why is America’s Mecca of climate change denial getting walloped by the climate the worst, these days? Is there a connection? Payback?

Did Mother Nature in the last few weeks just take the Bible Belt to the wood shed, as it were, unbuckling and sliding that strip of leather strap out of B-Belt’s pant loops for one hellovah whippin’ as some kind of punishment for hiding their heads in the dogmatic sands of belief over scientific facts?

You have got to wonder! The first major outbreak of tornadoes happened on 14-16 April, smacking southern states and especially splintering eastern North Carolina killing 45 — more than all the people killed by tornadoes in the US in 2010. That weather bull-hide ride made national news. Seemed bad enough, but look what followed. A monster twister — on Earth Day of all days — took out St. Louis, Missouri’s International Airport on 22 April.

Had enough?

Then came the biggest apocalyptic weather leather lashing in eight decades last Wednesday (27 April). At the time of this blog’s posting on May Day 2011, the death toll rises past 340 and climbs with hundreds still missing. In the ravaged city of Tuscaloosa, Alabama, alone, there are over 400 people still missing. Thousands have been injured, many severely in the most violent day of the most tornado-packed month in recorded history. April already had 453 twisters confirmed before Wednesday’s outbreak when large metropolitan areas such as Birmingham and Tuscaloosa got Ala-bammed along with many other smaller towns across Mississippi, Tennessee and Georgia.

The final numbers are yet to come in but what I would call “Black Thunder, Funnel Cloud Wednesday” may add another 169 twisters to that list of 453, as well as few confirmed EF4 and EF5 super-tornadoes, the latter of which can spin-crush and launch house and cement foundation slab off a basement with winds exceeding 200 mph.

Is existence punishing Japan for its whaling slaughters?

Is the planet bringing biblical windstorms and whirlwinds down on areas of America where most people do not believe there is any climate change going on?

Now for the first week of May a further aftermath of a disaster of biblical proportions approaches, rolling down the Ohio and Mississippi River Valleys: Prepare thyself, Noah, for floods in Ohio, Missouri, Tennessee, Mississippi, Arkansas and Louisiana.

People in quakey-ever-shakey Japan and twisted Tornado Alley USA are seasoned survivors of natural disasters; yet, you hear a new comment spreading between these climate and seismic toughened folk. You hear them say in Japan, “We are used to serious quakes and tsunamis — even atomic fallout since we are the only country to suffer an atomic attack — but nothing like these disasters!”

From St. Louis International Airport down to Arkansas and east across Mississippi, Alabama, Tennessee, Georgia all the way to the Carolinas and Virginia, you hear people begin to say, “We’re used to tornadoes, but not like this! Is the weather changing? Is it getting worse?”

You hear corporate media anchors call our spiking times of natural disasters since 2010 “the new normal”.

“Why, you say, are we getting more loss of life and historic swaths of property damaging storms, tsunamis and earthquakes?” rhetorically muse TV anchors and CNN weathermen and women on the boob tube.

They usually throw out data that in itself is correct, but it lulls one from confronting the question face to face.

Got climate changing indigestion?

Drop and fizz this bromide of weather anchor truthiness: There are more cities destroyed because the world is more populated than ever before, thus urban habitation has spread. In other words, as lyrics to the song Home on the Range could go, these days, “I now have a home, where the funnel clouds roam/Where the wind sheer and isobars play/Where seldom was heard a tornado alert/When the skies are thunder-cloudy all day…”

The church going survivors of the Bible Belt can pray for better weather and believe by the grace of God he missed them and hit their lesser lucky neighbors with the Lord’s dodge ball of disasters. The corporate handlers can past a brave happy face on their TV meteorologists as they comfort and obfuscate about climate change now reaching its tipping point.

And in the other camp are climate change believers feeling holistically holier-than-thou about faith-obsessed Bible bashers getting trashed by tornadoes and floods along with a lot of reasonable people in the South who recognize climate change is upon us. The ecology jihadist mindset conveniently overlooks all the thousands of Japanese earth friendly vegetarian folk who do not eat or kill porpoises being carried out to see by tsunamis

If retribution is coming, it is only a divinely bad joke that whale slaughtering and climate denying regions of the earth are being hard it today.

For the rest of you, your hits are coming…

When given the vision of the coming world war storm, the oracle defined the enemy as something hiding within each one of us.

Green or mean to the planet?

It does not matter.

This most subtle of enemies has to be recognized, understood and thus by a meditative understanding, transcended by every one of us. Moreover, as the Oracle put it in writing in November 2009:

The enemy is our unconsciousness as a species, our willingness to believe rather than “know” our collective soul, our willful postponement and outright resistance to awakening our responsibility to be gardeners — not rapacious parasites — of this Earth. And, if Mother Earth must, she will scourge us, starting in 2010 through 2011 with a spike in climate change disasters never before seen, bringing to a close this most ominous 00 “uh-oh!” decade of the new millennium. The potential death and destruction of this oncoming war of Earth on us will render every land and ocean a battlefield. Militant Mother Nature on the warpath will deliver more epic horrors and losses than endured in the last global World War and all 3,000 wars in 5,000 years of recorded civilization.

We will wish we only had an Adolph Hitler to appease with our Munich-cum-Copenhagen Pact. It is easier to behold an objective foe, far harder to fight the subjective enemy hiding behind our platitudes about becoming the change we can believe in.

Chapter 15: We Have Appeasement for Our Times

Tree huggers, tree cutters, all are essentially unconscious of conditioning that makes them an enemy of their only home in the universe at this time. I close today’s blog with the first of my three interchanges in early March with a reader, a man I will call JZ. I tried to help him see the Earth enemy that hides even in the most Earth loving mind.

My main question to you John is, “shouldn’t we as humans be excited that mother earth is fighting back”?

Should a lemming be excited by a plague decimating its family?

At this point, I believe it to be the only solution to our global problem (the scale has already tipped, all we can do at this point is to try and make the correct decisions for ourselves, let her fight the cancers’ we have sickened her with and hold on for dear life). This is actually exciting to me and I relish in the idea that earth is healing herself.

It is healing itself from “you”. I guess a germ can feel happy about being disinfected out of existence.

The reason I ask is…..for us to make a difference as a society at this point, wouldn’t we have to empty all of our cities (shut em down), quit buying gasoline and most products currently sold in 90% of our stores, every person on earth quit having children etc…etc…etc… starting in this moment, right here and now? Well, it is obvious that we will not, and are not doing this. I am probably in the minority here but it excites me that we are going through this cleansing period, that mother earth is not allowing this any longer, I am personally trying to make all the right decisions and be in the right place at the right time.

You have completely misunderstood my article, Jon. (See Climate Change). You are as far off as you can go into your mind. My article was not supporting people getting deep up into their minds.

What you are excited about is coming to directly erase you. This excitement is absolutely idiotic. Why? Because this excitement is mental and lost in abstract reverie. You have lost yourself in your thoughts as if you are not a part of what the collective will go through when being cleansed.

You are going down Nature’s toilet with the rest.

Where do you manage to think you are separate from the rest of humanity? You think this is going to be fun when you cannot eat, work, or find fresh water?

Where is your heart, JZ? Snap out of this intellectual frivolity.

Because no matter what any scientist says or any of the lies that the corporate world tries to disseminate upon us…this is happening and it will not stop until those things I mentioned happen… be it by choice or by force. But deep down your mind is ruling these facts as some abstract titillation, as if you are not going to be one of the victims of what is coming. I sent that reply off to JZ. It was not easy to do it, yet I am guided by something mysterious within that sometimes must say things to you all that I also must remember and be. Between you and me there is no one higher or lower. There is just us on this only home in a vast cosmic desert, too vast to sail to new worlds like Columbus 500 years before. Perhaps in the next 500 year cycle, perhaps by the 25th century, we will have matured enough, know enough, and have discovered enough scientifically to teleport beyond the vast distances of desert space and time to visit other oases in the universe.

That time is not yet.

Time is running out on humanity to aspire and reach that “yet.”

You will read the process JZ and I go through in the next blog tackling something that must flower in each of us before scientific invention of deep space travel can expand our life to other worlds. There must come a resurrection of human consciousness first.

I published that observation with the rest of my almanac of prophecies for the year on 21 December 2010. Just four days afterwards there began a weekly assault of winter storms stretched across the United States in lines of flooding rains, winds and record blizzards advancing across the land from the Gulf states to the Canadian border, one storm a week for SEVEN WEEKS! This frequency of large-scale storms has never before been recorded. And it was double the intensity of the 2009-2010 winter events in a way I personally could not at first believe possible, yet the oracle proved to be right.

Winter blizzards turned to spring time juggernaut lines of super cell thunderstorms — a steamroller of tornadoes. The US 2010 tornado season was bad enough with starting early with above normal activity in January. Then came an equally weird lull of little activity for February and March. On came violent April without a respite until August. By this time last year (late April 2010), NOAA recorded 275 tornadoes sightings reported with 203 confirmed.

The 2011 tornado season by the same time has had 765 tornadoes reported with 438 confirmed!

At this early stage of the season and with the worst months ahead (May and June), we are DOUBLE the number of tornadoes of 2010!

The warming of the climate more frequently increases tornadic fury into July and August as indicated last year. I predict the same will be the case this year redoubling outbreaks through August with the swath of devastation expanding into northern Midwest, Great Lake and even northern Atlantic seaboard states this summer.

I believe my oracle will be wrong, at least about the redoubling of the tornado season. It was too modest. The trend if it remains this intense will do more than double last year’s tally of tornadoes in the United States. NOAA counted 1,266 tornadoes in 2010 causing 1.07 billion dollars damage. We will more than double that cost. There were 45 fatalities in 2010. The tornadoes raging through the southern states last week claimed that many alone. Climatologists are already admitting that we are on track for a record pace this year. I will add that 2011 will also be a record year of floods along the Cumberland, Ohio and Mississippi Rivers from the incessant cloudbursts of rank upon rank of advancing thunderstorms I foresee in the next three months.

Back on 17 April, in Osho’s Noah’s Ark of Consciousness Prophecy, I ended it with a segment on current events of prophetic significance. The day before had seen North Carolina suffer the worst tornadic damage in its recorded history. A phalanx of tornadoes which had been armed by subtropical moist air from a warming climate colliding with cooler northern winds made a three-day rampage across US southern states. It left in its wake hundreds of towns visited over 700 houses and buildings destroyed and a death toll of 45 and counting. Half of these died on black-clouded Saturday’s squall line of death over North Carolina.

I ended my blog with a prophecy warning that the next devastating tornado disaster would mark Earth Day, 22 April, which was five days hence. I wrote the following:

Earth Day next Friday may very well be Mother Nature’s day of rage against human behavior towards the Earth, its oceans and its climate as I foresaw in weather forecasts for 2011, such as this one, published back on 21 December 2010:

There’s a war on. A war against stupid.

In 2011, we enter year two of World War Three, Mother Nature’s war on us. This isn’t some pagan voodoo threat. The natural world is ill. It’s fighting back madder than ever in 2011. Her fevers will be hotter this coming spring and summer, her chills colder this winter, her flood of monsoon tears and cyclonic rages will redouble from what was seen in 2010.

The tornado winds flinging this van onto the edge of a roof gives a new dimension to flying out of Lambert-St. Louis International Airport.

On 22 April, Mother Nature’s Earth Day of rage hit the St. Louis metropolitan area. Lambert-St. Louis International Airport was shut down by the worst monster tornado to hit the St. Louis metropolitan area in nearly a half century. A large part of the main airport terminal roof was damaged with 50 percent of its windows blown out. Concourse C also lost half its windows from the passing of what the National Weather Service reports was an EF4 tornado with winds cycling speeds from 166 to 200 miles per hour. Miraculously no one was killed by the tornado that cut a 22-mile a destructive swath of fury through the heavily populated area from St. Louis County Missouri to Madison County, Illinois damaging 1,200 structures and obliterating 100 homes, many of which were hammered by witness reports of softball-sized hail!

The strategy of rampaging Mother Nature for the next few months now becomes clear. Global warming has initiated an engine of windy destruction for the American Midwest, South and central Atlantic seaboard states. Every three to five days, watch a much more powerful subtropical jet stream in 2011 turn great thunderstorm squall lines into a kind of anvil thunder-headed line of fire, shooting one deep low pressure after another up the line of the storms as they advance through the Midwest every three to five days.

Watch misty, tentacled tornadoes write a torn and chaotic signature line of death and devastation through farmland, town and major metropolitan areas: Raleigh North Carolina one week, St. Louis the next.

Perhaps Cincinnati will be next? Then Louisville? Memphis? Even perhaps the Washington DC area and wild winds ripping at the roof of the White House? Will that be enough to get their attention?

Ranks of storms will roll on and on through May into June. One city a week visited, and many more towns and houses threatened, so that you at last listen, America, to the whirlwind’s cry of feverish Mother Nature who is at war with you for what you have done and keep doing to “it.”

All actions have consequence. The weather intensifies in violence as a direct outcome of you Americans being among the greatest polluters and wasteful consumers of Earth’s atmosphere and resources. Mother Nature sent a message on Earth Day 2011, by taking out an international airport in St. Louis, Missouri. That has never happened before. Are you listening?

If not, the Earth Days after and after and ever after will keep sending you new and terrible things to marvel at from a changing climate that have never happened before until you begin to listen, until we begin to change our ways and at last work together.

Nature hits America the hardest to kick-start the collective American genius and “can-do” virtues in the pants. Lead the world, America, in a new direction that restores the balance of life and nature, assuaging and healing Nature’s rage against humanity.

PS—Depending on events we will move in the next blog from tornadoes and floods to winds feeding fires burning up Texas and Oklahoma. The former has already seen 1.4 million acres of range go up in choking smoke. Also, there is Syria and Yemen to think about. The Libyan Civil War has kept our attention away from the real epicenter of Arab upheavals; however, we will soon examine how Nostradamus thinks developments in Libya may unexpectedly drag the world into another world war pitting Russia against America as soon as a dozen years or so.

Ever the “optimist” is he not? Moreover, Nostradamus was an Islamophobe.

We will entertain his horrific step-by-step jihad camel dung cake walk to thermonuclear WW III with the Russians with what I hope I can conjure as a positive alternative coming from the current regional Arab Revolution, if but Israel could take a bold lead to solve the Palestinian question.

We got through first month of a year I forecast in Predictions for 2011 to be filled with the first klaxon clang of alarm bells of unsustainable policies in economy, ecology, politics and social traditions. In the Southern Hemisphere, the Earth and Sky sends us a message in historic cyclones, monsoon floods crashing into, and inundating Australia. In the North, a string of record-breaking winter blizzards made January the snowiest on record in most cities along the Eastern Seaboard. The largest of these vast weather systems created a gigantic comma cloud that blocked out two thirds of the United States from satellite view, affecting one in three 300-million Americans with flooding rains, two-inch ice storms and 18 to 20 inch snowfalls.

I was recently on Whitley Strieber’s Dreamland show reminding him how the storm patterns of fact began matching satellite images created for the Science Fiction movie The Day After Tomorrow. This movie was based on his and Art Bell’s book The Coming Global Superstorm (1999). Roland Emmerich’s doomsday epic took their concept of a sudden superstorm transforming global warming into a global ice age. In my opinion, their foundation of imagination and research helped Emmerich create his most intelligent action packed super-apocalyptic blockbuster.

Emmerich films work when he forgoes illusions of being a scriptwriter and instead handily directs the excellent and thought-provoking material of others in that role, as was the case in Day After Tomorrow. In 2010 we were all doomed to see him once again conjure the spirit of schlock as his muse — as if he were channeling that greatest of Hollywood kitsch meisters, the late Irwin Allen — to spend a new budget high for a new blockbuster low: that laughable, visually CGI gluttonous end-of-the-world movie, 2012.

Anyway, the satellite image of the largest of eight-and-counting storms slamming the US every week since Christmas compelled me to remind Whitley Strieber on our last show of the apocalyptic blizzard-maker that triggered the new Ice Age in Bell and Strieber’s concept transformed into a Wagnerian Weather Channel shot in Day After Tomorrow.

Does the Ice Age commeth, and soon?

I would predict that it would be the triggering catalyst of the next jump in human civilization between 250 to 500 years from now. That is, if man-made tampering with the climate does not melt an inordinate and rapid flood of fresh water off Baffin Island and Greenland upsetting the great saltwater ocean current systems bringing on an early 100,000 year long winter to the world the day after tomorrow.

I wrote about this theme of “fire or ice” futures as far back as 1990 while living in a sweltering tenement in India outside Osho’s Meditation university/holiday resort. The work was published in 1994 appearing in the chapter The Second Hellrider: Earth Trauma under the sub-section A Greenhouse or an Icehouse Effect? in the book The Millennium Book of Prophecy. This book strove to divide 777 predictions coming from over 200 prophets recorded throughout ancient to modern history up to the 1990s. Their judgment of tomorrow fell into two categories: collective witnesses of doomsday and/or “blooms”-day, visionaries of an end of the world or a way to end world-ending stupidity to forge a golden future.

The conclusion of the prophets and seers was mixed about global warming either cascading into a future of warmth without end or warming triggered a sudden and unexpected age of ice. Fire may beget ice, but that is not made clear in their collected, augured witness.

I invite you to read the book and the collective judgment of seers therein. In my personal effort not to contribute to either climate-changing catastrophe, I for now no longer publish books made of dead trees. One thing I can and did clearly conclude from reading so many collective visions of a fire or icy future is this: both fire and ice spell famine.

Right now, the future leans to the sky going hot in blazes the grain belts of the world wizened to weeds. Nostradamus is not an Ice-Ager proponent in his prophecies. It would seem from his view back in the mid-16th century – a time suffering the first stages of another bout of the climactic phenomenon called the Little Ice Age — that the future after the year 1999 was hot with winds, famines wars and pirate (terrorist) raids.

Follow, therefore, his vision of the planets Saturn and Mars far beyond the year 2012 into the fires of a globally warmed future

L’an que Saturne & Mars esgaux combust,
L’air fort seiché, longue traiection:
Par feux secrets, d’ardeur grand lieu adust
Peu pluye, vent chault, guerres, incursions.

In the year when Saturn and Mars are equally fiery,
The air is very dry, a long comet:
From hidden fires a great place burns with heat,
Little rain, hot wind, wars and raids.

Here are the windows for climate change wars I described in detail back in 1994 in Millennium Book of Prophecy that the Pentagon finally reported as the main cause of conflicts in the future 11 years later. The comet may be a bearded star portent or a metaphor for a descending missile, shot by the desperate, falling upon the holder of dwindling resources they need to seize to survive in an ecologically impoverished world:

I have marked the first two dates as the next window for a war with Iran (see Iran prophecies). I mark the last three in bold font because they coincide with Neptune (God of Oceans) moving for a long generational transit through the sign of Aries (hot tempers, hot climates).

Those of you know, who have been reading my ten published books made of trees since 1987. Those of you who have followed my blogs on this web site posted and archived since 1999 know. Those of you since 2006 who have moved beyond paper books into the world of my self-published eBooks fashioned out of photons and electrons know my view about the 2020s.

Long after all this hubbub about 2012 comes and goes, the next I designate the next decade as the likely tipping point time of apocalyptic disasters caused by human abuse of resources and the climate that will cause supersystem collapse. In other words, the overtaxed supersystems of fossil fuel, systems of agriculture, the industry of finding and sequestering potable water, the network to transport our basic needs of food, water and power, etc., will start collapsing in the mid-2020s at the latest. If we do not change course in the next few years, there will be a great worldwide famine foreseen by Nostradamus, leading to a “Balkanization” of the world, a descent into chaos.

It may very well be that the year 2011 sounds the alarm of what is coming. If you heed what I wrote in Predictions for 2011 about the coming food crisis of 2011 and other alarm bells sounding the unsustainable and see what alternatives to famine and turmoil are possible, then you can play your part preventing the coming catastrophe of the 2020s.

Nostradamus may have foreseen the threat of civilization’s unraveling when in 2 Q75 he described a future where “bushels of wheat will rise so high, that man will devour his fellow man.”

Famine is not coming in 2011 or perhaps even in the 2020s because of a lack of food but from a lack of imagination and intelligence that sees the human race stupidly waste and mismanage its food stuffs, or lets free market play range free chicken with human hunger. Sooner or later the leaders of the G20, perhaps even in 2011 or 2012, will gather for a world symposium to create a new food price standard that can keep the agriculture business growing and profitable but not at the cost of social upheavals that undermine civilization. A free trade must be enabled that is also free of Darwinian, survival-of-the-fittest price hikes that people cannot afford. Price hikes that pile, as Nostradamus visualized, bushels of wheat stacked like hills while man cannibalizes fellow man because he cannot afford to eat.

The food alarm is ringing in 2011 as I predicted it would.

US wheat futures surges to fresh 29-month highs in late January 2011 as growing concern over food prices drove Algeria to order another large grain purchase on the world market.

Algeria’s government is trying to buy their way out of a revolution like in Egypt by purchasing in one huge order what was expected to be a third of their expected wheat purchase from US sources: 800,000 metric tons! This has pushed January 2011 wheat futures in Europe to their highest level since March 2008.

Other North African and Middle East nations threatened with upheaval have also dramatically stepped up their grain orders since the Tunisian revolution. US global wheat exports since the Russian ban last summer have doubled. The intensifying weather of climate change that caused the Russian ban has so far profited US wheat exporters because violent weather is stifling competitors, like Canada and Australia, the latter seeing much of its grain crop under water from floods and only good now for feeding livestock.

Taiwan and other Asian countries are also bracing for a rush on grain exports hiking prices to the levels setting their own populations out on the street Tunisian-Egyptian style in protest later this year perhaps. To prevent demonstrations, Taiwan will lower its wheat tariffs by 50 percent to stem the tide!

Soft red American winter wheat is scheduled for March delivery to Algeria and several other Middle Eastern nations. In January it was the most actively traded contract, reaching a high of $8.61¼ a bushel at the Chicago Board of Trade, eclipsing an intraday high set last August when a drought led Russia to ban grain exports. Futures ended up 18¼ cents, or 2.1 percent, to $8.56½. How much of this winter wheat will be human friendly rather than feed friendly depends on an early cessation of these record breaking weekly winter storms blowing their icy breath across the US grain belts. Though they dump feet of snow in eastern US states, they leave the winter wheat fields of Kansas and Nebraska freeze dried by polar windstorms sweeping away the snow pack that protects the wheat seeds from freezing to death.

In the opening 10 days of the Egyptian Revolution, food stuffs began running out because of the lawlessness and chaos — most of which was apparently orchestrated by the Mubarak Regime pulling its police forces away to punish the people for demonstrating against 30 years of dictatorship. The cynical aim only, was to make them yearn for law and order rather than yearn for democracy.

The people suffered but they have so far shown know sign of backing down. At the time of this writing, the Egyptian dictatorship had to flip on the Internet or see his Stock Exchange off line in darkness for another week continuing the Egyptian economy crash. Now that Internet is switched on, the social network that started this rebellion over food prices has enjoyed its largest crowds of demonstrators on the streets yet seen. The Egyptian working poor and civil servants are threatening a national strike to gain better wages to pay for food among other dwindling basics hiked ever higher in price. The food pricing issue that started this rebellion becomes a survival issue that takes it to a new level of peaceful resistance to the regime.

The growing spread of the Freedom Square revolution in Cairo to all classes of Egyptian society will face a showdown and soon. The military will take over an interim role of reform referee while aiming to save their power and perhaps see a new Mubarak emerge. Remember, Mubarak “was” the head of a military junta for the last 30 years. The junta will not relinquish power openly. The paternalistic power base in Egypt is as ancient as the Pharaohs. To succeed the democracy movement must keep pressuring the military regime to change. They will also need to ORGANIZE themselves into political parties and committees. STAY IN LIBERATION SQUARE! Do not leave Tahrir Square until you have democracy. Otherwise the army will occupy the square you leave, thinking reforms are now going to happen. Without the “heart” beating in that Square, the revolution will be systematically crushed. Let the social networks not just get them all to the meet ups in Egyptian city squares. The mob needs to become an organized movement, otherwise they give gravitas to a continuation of the military regime.

This revolution is about the begin its most dangerous and equally most potentially positive phase. I will call it the vacuum of political transition. In the next few weeks (indeed in the next few minutes, as I write this update for posting a few minutes before Mubarak is about to speak to his people) the mobs in the street could riot, regime could still roll the tanks over demonstrators, the military could experience upheavals within its inner hierarchy in several palace coups between now and especially sometime after February 23 through February 28 because of a very rare astrological conjunction that unconsciously influences people, perhaps on both sides of this revolution, to run out of patience and heed the temptation to do violence. By the end of February the revolution will spread across the Middle East threatening monarchies in Jordan and the Gulf States and dictatorial governments in Yemen and Syria. This conjunction in Pisces of Mercury and Mars will be the subject of my next post on the oncoming “Arab” Revolution.

Now I wish to write about another temptation to violence. There is a stubborn pressure ready to break the seams of earth rather than regimes and revolutions. We all must carefully monitor between now and February’s end: Bardarbunga.

You will all know that name soon. It is not an anagram for that elephant of child stories (Bardar=Barbar), but it is an elephant sized Bardarbung-a-hole in Iceland. It is a volcano at of the time of this writing experiencing a warm of earthquakes that geologists are convinced is lava (a lot of it!) seeking a way to the surface, big Bardar time.

This “Bardarbunga” is about to go BardarBING, BardarBOOM!

What are the consequences?

Well, prophetically speaking if what my oracle detailed in Predictions for 2011 about natural disasters and climate change weather “redoubling” after the violent year of 2010 continues to be on track, then the eruption of Viking volcano Bardarbunga will unleash an ash cloud twice as large and lingering than its much smaller neighbor with the even longer and unpronounceable Icelandic name, Eyjafjallajokull. The latter spewed a cloud of ash ten months ago, grounding all fights in and out of the Europe for weeks. Bardarbunga, the largest volcano of Iceland may do far worse when the coming Mercury-Mars conjunction will goad more than people to lose their temper. Mother Earth, perhaps, may blow her top at us?

A vast cloud river in the heavens swelled and seemed to break out of the confines of its usual monsoonal flood paths through the tropical burning blue skies across the northern edges of Australia as 2011 dawned. A 500-year drought in Australia’s outback at once transformed by sustained tropical downpours morphed into a 100-year “big wet” turning the sunburned Australian interior into a red and muddy sea. A wall of water literally arose like a tsunami fanning out through wide and once desiccated floodplains, carrying off farms, ranches and towns.

Brisbane in Queensland, along the Coral Sea, Australia’s third largest metropolis, was in the path of the car and house choked deluge. Brisbane, a town I had visited 17 published books ago in the late 1980s when on an Australian national book tour for my first best selling tome on Nostradamus. Landing at the international airport surrounded by subtropical bird sanctuaries, the surroundings had much of the same flora, fauna, mangroves and tropical smells of Mumbai, India, though free of the pollution, the crowds and general and squalid filth of South Asia. Coming to Queensland was a nice break from spending much of the 1980s off and on in India, living in an overcrowded, developing subtropical nation straining its lovely ecosystem.

Many houses in the suburbs of Brisbane were built on stilts. I was told by the cabbie taking me to my four-star hotel downtown, that stilted houses kept all the poisonous snakes from climbing in. Whether this was half true or half Aussie larrikin blarney, I am thinking the stilts performed two services, snake and flood infestation. As it turned out, the floods of early 2011 swelled through the low-lying western and eastern suburbs into thousands of homes. The irony is, the stilts may have prevented the deadly water and brown snakes from climbing in on drier days but caused greater “anguis” when rising waters made human habitations herpetological havens for waterlogged and hissing little “asps”.

My hotel, as I recall, was situated downtown on Elizabeth Street. I had enjoyed walking north to one of the three tight bends of the Brisbane River snaking through central Brisbane. From what I could see from aerial shots during the flood, my boulevard looked like it was under water. It made me wonder what happened to the descendants of that shark I enjoyed swimming in his hexagonal tank in the middle of the shoe and sports store wherein I finally found a digger’s bush had that could fit my huge head. (They apparently have big heads in Queensland.)

Probably the shark’s filles and fils are fine as aerial photos of the flood indicate Elizabeth Street 23-years after my visit was more high-rise dotted, high and dry. The water on the boulevard must have been a sheet of floodwater caused by heavy and relentless rain rather than upwelling beyond the floods of riverfront property letting slip marina’s full of pleasure boats downriver.

The weather satellites mapping the monsoon over northern Australia in the first half of January 2011 showed a huge tongue of cloud plunge down through the Queenslander and New South Welsh quadrants of the Great Australian Outback all the way south into the temperate states of Victoria and South Australia. While Brisbane and other Queensland towns began to dig upwards of 30,000 homes and properties out of rancid mud and find the bodies of a dozen victims still missing — whilst burying into soggy earth another 20 who had confirmed drowned — Victoria endured its worst floods since 1933.

Walls of water, kilometers wide, rolled across the northeast corner of the state inundating 62 towns. The State of South Australia was also pummeled with some of the reservoirs filled to bursting in the hills outside of the city of Adelaide, yet they held.

The impact of a monsoonal raid of rains reached far into the temperate south all the way to the island state of Tasmania. For all of you readers hailing from the Northern Hemisphere, that would be like a surge of monsoon storms out of Central America reaching all the way to Seattle, Washington, across into British Columbia.

It is estimated that damage caused to homes and infrastructure in the Australian flood disaster, especially across Queensland and Victoria, could cost as much as $30 billion.

This tropical and subtropical assault of sky rivers is not just an isolated Australian incident. While in the aftermath of the Brisbane floods, 200 police, many in boats, patrolled the inundated streets of for looters, over in Brazil, 700 people were buried alive in landslides from a juggernaut of torrential rains drenching the hill towns around Rio de Janeiro, leaving 14,000 homeless. Farther south in temperate climes of Brazil, near Santo Andres, a suburb of sprawling Sao Paulo, people clutched and hung onto their car hoods as life preservers for helicopters to pluck from the torrent. The Tamanduatei River running through Sao Paolo broke out of its banks.

Cross the Southern Atlantic from South America to South Africa and neighboring Mozambique and you would hear and see rains washing away thousands of homes and roads. South Africa’s Co-operative Governance Ministry reported 40 people drowned or missing in the flooding with seven out of the country’s nine provinces declared disaster areas.

State-run Radio Mozambique reported on Monday (17 January 2011) that 13 000 people had seen displaced from their homes by torrential rains and heavy wind damage with at lest 10 killed.

The cleanup in Australia has begun, but the people there look at more threatening skies darkened by storms. As I write this blog on 19 January 2011, the Australian Broadcast Company (ABC) reports are coming in from Brisbane of severe thunderstorms battering flood-stricken southeastern Queensland for two nights in a row, knocking power out for over 30,000 households stretching from Lockyer and Brisbane Valleys to Ipswich, the Gold Coast and Brisbane. Microbursts of wind clocking as high as 62 mph were recorded near Ipswich.

The tropical and subtropical rainy season is still young.

UPI.com reports, Queensland Premier Anna Bligh saying her state will remain on alert for more extreme weather in coming months.

“We took the unprecedented step of actually inviting the weather bureau to come and formally present to the Cabinet,” Bligh said.

Brett, one of my dedicated readers wrote back on Monday, “John, it looks like your 2011 Prophecies will all be fulfilled in the first two weeks of 2011!”

Brett is speaking about what I wrote in Predictions for 2011, in a chapter entitled “Alarm Bells Sound the Unsustainable”. Some of you might have read it already or heard me recently elaborate on Coast to Coast AM on 13 January about a dire set of weather predictions for the new year.

On Coast to Coast I recall saying, “I am usually not an alarmist.”

George Noory the host replied, “You call it as it is, John.”

I added, that though I often talk about scary things happening when dire prophecy and dire current events meet, I try to find a measured and balanced way of matching scary developments in the future with their rational solutions possible and empowered in the present. I try as much as I can to give you on Coast, or in books or in these blogs, a balanced view, a choice implied as to how you can do your individually small and collectively large parts in directing destiny down a more positive, life affirming future path by changing your actions in the present.

However, on Coast to Coast I was clearly sounding an alarm.

I am genuinely alarmed at what I see coming in 2011, weather-wise.

I spoke about my first documented prophecies from 2009 presaging Mother Nature sending us a message in 2010 with a global temperature rise was a part of a temperature tsunami making 2010 the hottest year on record.

It happened.

Then on Coast to Coast AM on 13 January and in Predictions for 2011 written and documented on 21 December 2010, I warned that the human race has not heard the message of natural disasters and rising temperatures of 2010. Indeed, less people believe there is global warming now than in 2009.

Nature will respond.

She will raise the violence of climate change, quakes and storms by 50 percent in 2011.

What Brett is talking about is the sudden and extreme amplification of just that intensification happening already since the new year began, just a short three weeks ago.

These floods described above and a spate of seven magnitude and higher quakes across of the world and the sudden and dramatic eruption of Mt. Etna in Sicily are only the beginning of what will be remembered as the year of the great flooding storms.

The storms befall the planet just as Neptune prepares to enter its home sign of Pisces in April 2011 where it will stay for decades. Because 2011 astrologically marks initial passage through Neptune (the Sea God’s) first and most intense degrees of its transit, I predict the Southern Hemisphere’s 2011 Monsoon Season like the northern hemispheric season to come, will be the most flood-prone and violent ever recorded in modern times.

We are not listening. The volume, therefore, roaring in flood waters, the shrieking of storm winds and the thundering tidal surges of cyclonic tropical storms will be turned up louder.

Mother Nature will try to unplug our ears with low-pressured tropical tempests and tornadoes of unprecedented fury. She will throw them spinning like a scythe deep into the temperate zones of north and south where such weather is rarely seen.

Will we listen to her message? Will we begin the Herculean tasks of weaning our civilization off global warming CO2 emissions in a generation’s time?

Mother Nature went red dragon Toruk mak tao blue Na’vi nasty across North America this week putting up a powerful wall of thunderstorms with hurricane force winds — gales of flash flooding rains for some, unseasonably early blizzards for others — and all spiked by lightning and dozens of tornadoes. It was as if early spring tornado season had paid states from the Great Plains to the Atlantic seaboard an encore in October.

Very strange. Very weird were the comments heard from New Orleans, Notre Dame, Chicago and Minneapolis to North Carolina.

The storm first made landfall through my corner of the United States, the Pacific Northwest, buffeting the area with winds and heavy rain for four days. Then it gained strength crossing the Rockies. Gulf of Mexico humidity colliding with arctic cold stretched a vast and curling phalanx line of thunderstorms from the Gulf all the way across the Canadian border to a curling low pressure center over Hudson Bay wrapping around one of the lowest barometric pressure readings documented outside of the tropics. Indeed, this storm of unexpected size and autumnal fury has gone down in the record books as the most powerful non-tropical storm to hit the United States since meteorologists in the late 19th century began chronicling the weather

How often in the year 2010 have you heard others or heard yourself comment on how weird the weather has been? How often has news reports from around the world used the terms, “record breaking” or “not known in human memory” or “unseasonably” when describing the weather of 2010 from its powerful blizzards early on to its triple digit and lingering heat waves of spring, summer and autumn?

How many 500-year floods inundating a quarter of Pakistan and displacing 25 million people do we need? How many more 500-year droughts in Russia scorching the wheat fields from Smolensk to Siberia with half-a-thousand major forest and brush fires, forcing the third largest grain producer to shut off all exports, must we shrug off? What further ice, fire and flood does it take for people to understand that one year cannot repeat 500-year this or 500-year that and be a normal year of climate phenomena?

How many major and lethal earthquakes in Haiti, in Chile, in China, and just this week off the coast of Sumatra carrying off 700 people in a tsunami do we need in a short span of a year to known our “Eywah”, or Mother Earth, is shaking with climate fevers and rage? How many more times will all airline flights across Europe need to be canceled for weeks because of a pall of Icelandic volcanic ash before we get it? Planetary “mom” is in a black ash, lava-eyed mood about us.

Mother Nature in 2010 is sending us all a message. Are we hearing it?

Kill Bill! Kiddo! The Climate Bill, that is.

President Obama, with what one would expect to be a Democratic majority full of tree-huggers in Congress, couldn’t get his legislation to limit fossil fuel use passed so the great American fart of Co2 emissions continues. In a few days the midterm US elections will produce a potential swing of the frustrated American voter to the corporate, anti-greenie right as a protest by ballot rendered to a seductive lover that after two years has turned out not to be the promise rich (now results poor) president they married.

China may have more green and alternative energy start-ups than America. Indeed, the Chinese may be the number one foreign market for watching James Cameron’s ecological myth and morality movie “Avatar,” but China became number one global fart in 2010, taking the gassy lead from “US” as the greatest industrial polluter of Mother Earth. How many mega Typhoon Megis slamming into Southeastern China, how many signs of the great Yangtze and Huang Ho rivers running out of Himalayan glacial headwaters, does one need to confront before you can see in the not-too-distant future the consequence of a manic plan to get carbon emitted rich quick? Must your new Middle Kingdom die quick?

Are we listening to our Mother Earth?

A comprehensive Pew poll released in October found that only 57% of respondents think there’s evidence of warming (down from 71% last year), and just 36% think it’s because of human activity (down from 47%).

When her children aren’t behaving and aren’t listening, what does a mothering goddess spirit do?

I’m writing this blog just three days shy of the one-year anniversary of documenting the following prophecy as my oracle’s answer in Predictions for 2010 on 1 November 2009:

“Talk of change in 2010 will get louder but actual legislative action will remain indecisive. We will do as our grandfathers did in the last fourth turning. This is one of four 20-year generational periods kicking off an 80-year cycle in American history, theorized by futurist William Strauss. A positive response to 20 years of crisis brings on 20 years of national ascent—the First Turning. This then is followed by 20 years of apogee, followed by 20 years of degeneration, neglect and corruption in government and society thus leading back again to a new global crisis, a new 20 years of the Fourth Turning. Crisis is the catalyst that turns the wheel of generations once again towards recovery and ascent and so on. The current Fourth Turning started much like the last in the 1930s with the worldwide financial crisis. The rise of totalitarian movements and regimes threatened democracies, leading at last to the Second World War. Whether this new Fourth Turning will slide totalitarian then slip into the Balkanization of civil society in Climate’s world war against us is still a destiny we can change but will not presently prevent.

“We’ve had the economic crisis. We in 2010 will appease and postpone changing ourselves until a new enemy crosses more than the border of Poland but invades across every border, bombs every city and town with its sky of fires, raises every ocean, parches every interior continent with decades of drought and casts a pall of global famine across the inhabited continents.

“The enemy of Habits rather than Hitlers in this war will be a harder sell for this Obama-the-FDR. We Americans can sometimes politely disparage our high fossil fuel energy excesses but it is a pretense. We are energy waste Isolationists, no less in denial of the high Heil Hitlerian dangers of pollution’s tyranny and the subtle warnings of our coming climate crisis than Isolationists of the 1930s were about ignoring the spread of Hitler’s fascism. Thus, it will take many more Pearl Harbor-like catastrophes of nature and famine to register the alarm, soldier the understanding of sacrifice, and see a new kind of victory never before sought or required of human beings.

“We are the soldiers of our bad habits against the earth. We must cry mutiny against our habits and mature into guardian warriors of the Earth.”

Mother Nature has declared world war on us and if we have not noticed the up-tick in temperatures, violent storms and seismic activity she will be forced to give us a real spanking as 2010 doesn’t wind down but winds up to its climate-climactic end.

(By the way, Saddam Hussein, the dictator of Iraq, intentionally set off the greatest oil slick disaster in history during the Persian Gulf War of 1991 spilling over 10 million barrels into the Persian Gulf from oil tanker harbor pipelines detonated in Kuwait by his retreating Republican Guards. Though Deepwater’s oily sheen stretched for a time across an area the size of Pennsylvania from late April to early July, now in early August NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmosphere Administration) declares 75 percent of the goo is gone. “Absorbed” to be exact. The corporate media eats up this report like anaerobic ocean bacteria tucks in tar for tucker with little to no skeptical inquiry. Also the FDA (Food and Drug Administration) chases NOAA’s happy spill of spin with their own, that all the vertebrate fish and invertebrate shell fish swimming in that dispersant rich toxic mix of “absorbed” oil still raining down on oyster beds, crab and shrimp make these “safe” to eat. Big business must go on, it seems. Get those Gulf fisheries back on net line harvesting the ocean’s oily gilled and bivalved bounty. Get those people back to work before region-wide gulf state unemployment influences their votes for the mid-term elections.

Thank you dispersant toxins for sweeping the slick under the watery rug of the Gulf ocean surface. I wonder if short term profit and political gain might postpone a serious appraisal about just what impact on human health eating hydro-carbonated marine animals will have in the coming decade. Heck, American’ts postpone tackling the oncoming Debt Bomb, why not delay a serious investigation into the effects of the dispersants in what will be a crude dispersant pestilence upon human consumers?

We have a habit of not facing our toxic problems (social, economic and ecological). It reminds me of a consequential prophetic outcome written in Century 5 Quatrain 63 of Nostradamus’ history of the future, when he augured the following: “There will be several plagues upon mankind.” Many of these pestilences implied to be man-made.

This brings me back to another similarity between the oil spill summers of 1979 and 2010. Itox in 1979 and Deepwater in 2010 share summers remembered for their record-breaking and extended heat waves across the Gulf and Mississippi River states. Did both spills somehow have a toxic influence on water evaporation in the Gulf of Mexico that lead to very hot summers across the eastern two thirds of the North American continent? The historic hot summer of 2010 spikes much higher than the record swelter of 1979. The temperature rises in intensity parallel the increased size of the third and first worst accidental oil spills in history in a body of water from where much of the subtropical heat cast over North America comes.

Climate made famished for water evaporation by hydrocarbon steroids?

There has never been recorded such a wide-ranging and lingering triple-digit heat wave across the states of the American South and Mississippi Valley. NOAA predicted a hurricane season to rival the storms crowding 2005 when Hurricane Katrina devastated the Mississippi coast and broke the decrepit levies around New Orleans. The first week of August 2010 is nearly over with nary but one minor Hurricane Alex on the books. What has dried out the Caribbean and Gulf areas like 1979? Is it coincidence. Is it a fortunate spate of off shore wind sheer cutting down the strength of the “canes” before they are “able” to murder the Gulf with winds, storm surges and rains? Is it the Gulf waters, and a lot more?

The 1979 season, like the first two months of the current Hurricane Season of 2010 had only seen one weak hurricane (Bob for 1979; Alex for 2010) briefly visit the Gulf. Both in mid-July. Unlike July 2010, the Gulf in late July 1979 did experience a gully washer torrent of rain across the Texas coastline from tropical storm Claudette making it one of the most damaging tropical storms on record never to reach hurricane force; however, no other hurricane entered the Gulf until Hurricane Henry around 17 September 1979. Henry went down on the record books as was a rare example of a storm entering the Gulf of Mexico and dissipating without making landfall. Was an oily film from the Itox spill blocking the full evaporation feast of moisture it needed?

Is it a coincidence that the last time the Gulf had suffered a scab of an oily sheen in 1979 the weather patterns drew dry and record-breaking hot. Moreover, summer 2010 like 1979, is also a year enduring a strong though currently diminishing El Nino climate altering heat-up of the Eastern Pacific equatorial waters. Nevertheless, perhaps the collapsing El Nino in 2010 has enough strength left to quiet down the Atlantic Hurricane Season like 1979 and oil slicks have nothing to do with it.

A far larger oil slick in 2010, coincides with an equally and far wider ranging, triple-digit heat wave across the Mississippi Valley states all the way north to Minnesota. These and even the Atlantic seaboard states sweltered with mid-summer temperatures in the spring months of late April and May. Is it bad luck only that the Deepwater disaster started on 20 April? Does water evaporate properly when under the skim of hydrocarbons? Can a large portion of the northern Gulf laced with particulated hydrocarbons dispersed from the surface to ocean floor depths in vast oil cloud plumes not have some impact on the watery engine of atmospheric evaporation pumping subtropical moisture far into the temperate zone?

The fossil carbon farts of oil and coal make a Greenhouse Effect trapping the sun’s heat in the atmosphere reflecting the heat back to earth. Move from air to water, from heat trapped to heat reflected. Could carbon slurry in its pre-exhaust form in the ocean inhibit enough natural water evaporation under an viscous greenhouse rainbow sheen to render a subtle altering of weather patterns to a hotter degree? My rhetorical questions are not science. My intuition might be imaginary. Then again, perhaps the future climatologists will find some correlation.

What I’m pondering is not scientifically proven. Not yet. I wonder though how much mucking with the oceans can tip a slight degree of evaporation across a large enough water surface to slightly alter the rpm of the climate temperature engine running the motor slightly too hot.

From heat waves to fires we go…

There’s fire in the sky mentioned in a number of Nostradamus’ prophecies distressing a future time. A line of heat waves drawn over the map line of latitude 48 is the subject of Century 5 Quatrain 98:

A quarante huict degré climaterique,
A fin de Cancer si grande seicheresse:
Poisson en mer, fleuue, lac cuit hectique,
Bearn, Bigorre par feu ciel en destresse.

At a latitude of forty-eight degrees
At the end of Cancer (22 July) so great (is the) drought.
Fish in the sea, river and lake boiled hectic,
(Southwest France) in distress from fire in the sky.

I wrote the following interpretation 13 years ago for Nostradamus: The Complete Prophecies:

Nostradamus warns us against creating a future drought of biblical proportions that will burn a swath across latitude 48 in the Northern Hemisphere. Drawing a line across that latitude on a map, we touch on nearly all the world’s chief grain belts. Today’s amber oceans of wheat stretching across North America and the Soviet Ukraine revert to prairies and inhospitable steppes in the next century.

[Note the] quatrain Indexing Date: “Q98″ = 1998? In my last Nostradamus book [Nostradamus: the New Revelations, 1994] I correctly interpreted the increase in global warming after the mid-1990s when the dust from the eruption of Mt. Pinatubo [1992] that slightly cooled the world had cleared the skies. With this interpretation in mind, we can expect a wave of global droughts and heat waves by July 1998. From that time onward global warming steadily kicks in, disrupting weather patterns and the climate conditions needed to grow grain, start to shift hundreds of miles north of where they are now.

The year 2010 visits upon Russia the worst drought, brush and forest fires in 130 years of recorded weather history. The Indian heat wave before the Monsoon came in June killed hundreds if not thousands across South Asia. The US had endured sustained and historic bouts of triple-digit heat waves east of the Rockies starting since mid-spring.

Yesterday, the Russian Federation announced that all exports of grain will cease due to the crop damage caused by 2010′s sustained spring and summer droughts. Flames devour Forest and brush fires have become Russian wheat field fires. Prime Minister Vladimir Putin banned all grain exports for the next 4.5 months so his country can at least feed itself.

Russia is the third largest exporter of grain on this hungry and overpopulated planet. Russian fields of desiccating grain lie mostly along Latitude 48.

The quatrain’s indexing “98″ bears a second look. In 2001, a United Nations commission on climate changes declared that the 1990s were the hottest years on record in the last millennium. Climate science reports the tropics are expanding nearly 600 miles into once temperate zones demarcated by the tropics of Cancer in the north and Capricorn in the southern hemisphere. The Science Times reported that temperatures in 1998 shattered global temperature records. Since the spike of heat in 1998, every year since then records a hotter mean temperature than all the years before 1998 and the year 2010 is poised to shatter heat records of the hottest year of them all — 1998!

Back in November of 2009, I forecast the following:

“Be prepared for cold and snow filled winters to suddenly shift into greatly warmed meltdown floods. Great torrential wets will presage land-mummifying droughts in Australia, and the interiors of all inhabited continents in 2010. The only constant theme threading through next year’s weather forecast: extreme.” (Predictions for 2010)

My oracle described 2010 as the year Mother Nature would send a message: she has declared war on all that we mindfully and mostly unmindfully do to upset her natural balance. In Predictions for 2010, I described in detail what would be coming, where and when. I warned that immediately after the first day of the new year you would begin to see a dramatic uptick in natural disasters of climate and earth. Here is what has already happened in the first two-and-a-half months as primarily reported from earthweek.com with additional details I added from my own direct experience and what I gathered off the news wires:

JANUARY 2010–Week 1

The Great Northern Hemispheric Chill. The year 2009 goes out as the world’s tenth warmest year since modern global records began in 1880 with record cold snaps and blizzards across the central United States, across Europe and Asia. The arctic blast reached as far south as the tropics.

Tajikistan rocked by New Year’s weekend quake. A 5.3 Richter scale temblor in the Hindu Kush mountain range left at least 20,000 homeless.

The First Tsunami of 2010. On January 4 a 7.2 quake caused a deadly tsunami flooding the south facing shorelines of Rendova and Tetepare in the Solomon Islands with 500 homes damaged or washed away.

JANUARY 2010–Week 2

Monster Cyclone in the Indian Ocean. Cyclone Edzani reached Category 4 strength producing waves three stories high about 600 miles south-southwest of Diego Garcia. It is fortunate that Edzani remained far out at sea. If it has landed on the coastlines of Madagascar or southeastern African coast it would have inflicted considerable property damage and loss of life.

Northern Californian Quake (Jan. 9). An offshore jolt of 6.5 magnitude damaged hundreds of homes in and around the picturesque coastal towns of Eureka, Fortuna and Arcata, California.

The Great Haitian Earthquake (Jan 12). The worst recorded earthquake in Haiti in two centuries, a magnitude 7.0 temblor, pulverized the capital Port-au-Prince and the surrounding towns rendering a third of Haiti’s 9 million people homeless with the estimated lost of life approaching a quarter million. A number of powerful aftershocks in Haiti, along with moderate-to-sizable quakes rocked and rolled the Caribbean region in the coming weeks.

JANUARY 2010–Week 3

Haitian Aftershocks continue. The worst was a magnitude 6.1.

China’s Northeastern Coastline locked in by Ice. The Bohal Sea chilled to its widest coverage and thickness in 40 years.

Midsummer Night’s Snow Storm. In the peak of the Southern Hemisphere summer, Australian mountains in Victoria and New South Wales were dusted with snow, while…

Cyclone Magda hits Australia. Magda visited the Kimberly Coast region of Northwest Australia. It is the third major cyclone of the November-to-April Indian Ocean Cyclone season. In Predictions for 2009 I correctly forecast a powerful series of Cyclone seasons continuing.

Mexico visited by Violent Winter Storms. I cannot recall whether this happened in week three or four of January. Not long after my return from Mexico City in mid-January I saw a news photo of the very same freeway I took to the international airport under six feet of water from unprecedented January floods in the city. I personally experienced the opening cold snap hitting Mexico. It was the talk of the town. It also drizzled the night my hosts took me out to dinner, one of them shaking his head saying, “It never rains in January in Mexico City.” Actually, these meteorological phenomena though rare are not unprecedented. Below I will explain how climate change is altering our memories of what real winters used to be like from Mexico City to Minnesota to Manitoba.

JANUARY 2010–Week 4

Cyclone Olga floods Cairns, Australia.

Waves of Blizzards across North America (Dec. through Jan.) The times of each blizzard pass in my memory like a whiteout blur. I know they began in early December 2009 in North America. I recall a particularly bad week was had in Europe at the end of January.

FEBRUARY 2010–Week 1

Greatest Snowfall in Washington DC’s recorded History. Not since the American capital’s creation has so much snow fallen. The fools in the Congress cried, “Where is global warming?!” In my article dated 7 February (The Global Warming Washington Blizzard), I explained that a warmer climate atmosphere far more saturated with moisture than normal would endure record-breaking blizzards and snowfall in the initial decades of the coming climate change. Enjoy them. In ten year’s time you will be missing the snow piled and pressed against your window.

FEBRUARY 2010–Week 2

A New Island rises near Iwo Jima in the Pacific. Japanese vulcanologists predict the current explosive clouds of ash from a submarine volcano rising 300 feet above the ocean surface herald the birth of a new Iwo Jima (sulfur island).

Taiwan Quake. A sharp submarine temblor of 6.4 magnitude off the east coast of Taiwan caused landslides and injured dozens.

Mexican Quake. A 5.7 magnitude quake jolted the Oaxaca Pacific coastline of southern Mexico. It was felt as far north as Mexico City. When I was in Mexico City in mid-January doing a press conference for the release of History Channel’s The Nostradamus Effect in the Central and South American television markets, I was asked if Mexico City would suffer an earthquake soon. I answered, “yes.” I hope this Oaxaca temblor was it, though I think worse is coming later this year, in the summer months.

FEBRUARY 2010–Week 3

Caribbean Region Keeps Shaking after Haiti. In the month following the Haitian temblor there were at least two quakes of 6 magnitude or just below in the Caribbean region that were not aftershocks from Haiti. Earthweek reported, “Some of the strongest activity in nearly four years at Montserrat Island’s Soufriere Hills volcano sent ash soaring high above the Caribbean as clouds of super-heated gas and debris cascaded down the mountain’s slopes.”

Antarctic Rain Patterns Shifting South. Scientists pinpoint change in rain currents that will deepen Australia’s crippling droughts for the foreseeable future.

Tropical Cyclone Gelane. Brought strong winds and heavy rains to Mauritius and Reunion Islands in what is becoming one of the more active Indian Ocean Cyclone Seasons in recent memory.

FEBRUARY 2010–Week 4

Aftershocks in Haiti and moderate Quakes hit central China.

Blizzards continue to Visit North America, as the Canadian Permafrost Melts. Earthweek reports, “The permafrost around Canada’s James Bay is retreating northward as the frozen ground responds to a warming climate, Canadian researchers say.”

MARCH 2010–Week 1

8.8 Chilean Quake and Tsunami Catastrophe. The Chilean coast 200 miles southwest of Santiago rocked with one of the largest quakes ever recorded, actually showing the earth’s rotation by a few thousand milliseconds and altering the Earth’s axis by three inches. The temblor sent a Tsunami across the Pacific Ocean with little damage. However, a tsunami inundated and shattered towns all along the Chilean coast around Concepcíon sending houses and fishing vessels 2.5 miles inland in places. There are over a 1,000 dead and missing.

6.4 Quake rocks Taiwan. Earthweek reports: “A sharp quake and four subsequent aftershocks jolted much of Taiwan on Thursday morning, with the strongest causing at least 12 injuries. Fires broke out after the initial 6.4 magnitude jolt, including a smoky blaze at a textile factory in the southern city of Tainan.”

Volcano Erupts in Costa Rica. “Residents in communities surrounding Costa Rica’s Irazú volcano briefly panicked as the mountain produced a series of 9 tremors over a 30-minute period.” (Earthweek)

Vast Ice Berg Collision in Antarctica. “A collision between a massive iceberg and the mouth of an Antarctic glacier broke away another huge chunk of ice the size of a small country.” (Earthweek)

As We Freeze in Earth’s North, the Southern Earth heats up. Earthweek reports: “Global warming continues unabated south of the equator despite a bitter Northern Hemisphere winter that has provided a jolting reminder of what winters of yesteryear were once like, according to climate scientists.”

What Earthweek says is true. We look upon these cold blizzard events in the US or January rains in Mexico City as something new when indeed they are new to many of us just coming into adulthood, and those graying baby boomers old enough to remember but are encouraged by our short-term thinking societies to forget. One-and-a-half generations have been born since global weather patterns in the late 1970s began their aggregate climb in temperatures producing more moderate and warmer winters. I predict a new upsurge of climate change will come in 2010. The last significant jump and speed-up of climate change happened in 1998 when global warming began its current string of record-breaking years of higher temperatures. We have forgotten what winters in the Northern Hemisphere from your back yard to Mexico City once were like. Decades of warmer winters have made us forget. It is also convenient to forget; otherwise, you would have to change and stop playing the part of the overwhelmed citizen your overlords wish you to play.

MARCH 2010–Week 2 (up to 12 March)

Major Chilean Aftershock. A significant 6.9 temblor hit Chile the day its new president took office. The epicenter was Rancagua, 90 miles southwest of Santiago.

Lights out on Venezuela’s Lightning Light Show! Ever since the beginning of European colonization over five centuries of one of Earth’s most amazing lighting shows where the Catatumbo River empties into Lake Maracaibo have been recorded. For an average of 160 nights a year as many as 20,000 strikes hit the area each night. This year’s unusually strong El Nino (the ninth strongest ever recorded) may be the cause for an unprecedented blackout lasting two months and counting.

Rare Tropical Cyclone appears off the Coast of Brazil. The forming storm called “Invest 90Q” is only the seventh subtropical or tropical cyclone to form in the South Atlantic basin in recorded history.

Madagascar Flooded by Cyclone Hubert. Torrential rains and landslides that destroyed hundreds of homes, displaced 32,000 and killed at least 36 people inundated the deforested coastal mountains of the island nation.

Icelandic Volcano lying dormant since 1823 is about to Blow. Earthweek reports: “The Icelandic Meteorological Office said that the shaking felt in communities near Eyjafjallajökull glacier was due to magma flowing at full speed into the volcano… In 1994 and 1999 a series of tremors was detected in the area — believed to have been caused by magma intrusion deep inside the volcano. The Civil Protection Department was maintaining an alert for the mountain due to the unrest.”

Stuck in the Ides of March’s Nor’easter Storm

Earthweek ends its reports every Friday. The Ides of March, the midpoint of the month, passed yesterday. At the time of this writing four days following last Friday, the Atlantic Northeastern states are witnessing one of the most significant Nor’easter storms since 2006 with some areas already buried in the last few weeks of snowfall now melting and drowned in three days straight of 3 to 5 inches of rainfall. Flood watches are still in effect along the coastlines from storm surges and inland too from swollen rivers bursting from their banks flooding thousands of homes and businesses across New Jersey, Connecticut, Massachusetts, New York, Long Island and Maine. Hurricane force winds visited JFK airport and days of sustained 50 mph winds across New England knocked out the power to half a million homes over the weekend.

Perhaps the most ominous message my oracle has given in Predictions for 2010 is indeed bearing down on us. Mother Nature is rebelling against our abuse. There is developing a highly accurate seer synchronicity in my almanac of annual weather forecasts. I will therefore continue giving monthly reports matching events with prophecy.
